Summary: Horatio comes down with a most terrible head cold right before he is supposed to be hosting dinner with his officers. He takes desperate measures to meet the obligation.
Notes: Written during my 12 Ficlets in 12 Days in 2018-19 project project for wig_powder

I am not the best at things like plot or comedy, but I ended up having a fun time trying to write this to fit your excellent prompt. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh God, Horatio being so out of it he isn't even aware he's sneezing...I didn't expect that, and that's adorable. I can't imagine how embarrassed he's going to feel when he comes back to himself, though.

Well, in my mind, Bush makes absolutely certain the other officers will not breathe a word of it, not even in private among themselves. And Horatio is so very out of it he won't remember a thing in the morning. As for Bush... in my slashy world, he tells Horatio about it some day--perhaps on a day when Bush is under the weather himself but knows better than to combine spirits and whatever remedy the ship's doctor administers. But it's a day far into the future when Horatio has other things on his mind and won't be altogether too horrified at a fresh embarrassment. Until then, the night will be just a confused blur... and he'll probably spend the next day in bed recuperating whether he means to or not.

Anyhoo, I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Humor really isn't my strong suit (I'm never quite sure if what I find funny is something someone else will). So I'm really glad you liked it and poor, adorable Horatio. YAY!
