This was great! Your descriptions of Archie's simultaneous pleasure and embarrassment rings true (I'm not surprised, though; I think all of us with this kink has been there), Horatio's anxiety over not sneezing and making a scene feels just right for him, and that last segment started out adorable and then got very, VERY hot. Those last few paragraphs in particular are glorious and make me wish you'd continued for just a little longer (though I completely understand why you stopped where you did).

Also, this line?

"And it wasn’t as though Horatio could catch a cold by sheer strength of will, though goodness knew if it could be done, the courageous and resourceful Horatio Hornblower would find a way to do it."

Damn if I kind of don't want to see that become a reality somehow. I mean, there's the usual "deliberately getting cold/wet and hanging around sick people" way, but I'd be more than happy to see some of my favorites will themselves sick just by concentrating. Alas, Hornblower's not that kind of show, but it's nice to think about.

I do have one little quibble, though: Horatio and Archie served with Simpson on the Justinian, not the Indefatigable (he was only with them on the Indy after the Justinian sank, and got killed a few days later). It's a small part of an otherwise lovely story, but I figured I'd mention it for future reference. Because lord knows there's probably a few more Hornblower requests coming from me in the future...
