WHOOHOO!!
I solved another Monk episode! This makes two in a row now, I think! I ROCK!
I'm actually a geek... I wrote down all the details and clues and all... I'm hopeless LOL. But I DID come up with the answer during that commercial break- fairly easily, actually. Just ran through my list and BOOYAH! I'm very proud. LOL
It's the little things, you know?

Date: 2003-08-02 03:57 am (UTC)I adore the old one- Tony's my favorite. And Collin. I've seen every episode several times :-)
I love Monk because it's a nice, humorous detective show- not like those cop dramas. They're fine, I just don't knock myself out to watch them. And I simply adore the main character in Monk(er, which would be Monk). I'm pretty damn anal about things... not quite OCD, but not too far off. So it's nice to see a character who's not afraid to spend time straightening a picture frame. Grrr! Crooked picture frames are so annoying...!

Date: 2003-08-02 04:44 am (UTC)Usually I just can't figure out that last connection... it's so annoying. But I think the writing it all down thing helped :-) Then again, I get the benefit of camera angles and things that Monk doesn't have. heehee
I'm not too fond of the Drew Carey version... it's just not as good quality-wise IMHO. And the games aren't as varied. And the constant Drew jokes get annoying. But the concept is indeed very lovely and there have been a number of moments that I died laughing over in the new one, too.

Date: 2003-08-02 01:41 pm (UTC)Just wanted to let you know, I only have about 15 mins left on my Highlander download! Woohoo!! *bounces* *lol* A month after I started downloading it...
And, I'm very sorry about the lack of email. Uni has started again and I'm tired and busy but basically disorganised and lazy. I'm sorry! There will be an email shortly, though. After I watch Highlander. Which would probably be tomorrow night. So tty then!

Date: 2003-08-02 06:10 pm (UTC)Sounds about as bad an idea as the Highlander Rock Opera they tried years ago... though it's a much different sort of thing.

Date: 2003-08-02 06:06 pm (UTC)Anyway... I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think. *she says nervously, hoping you don't hate it TOO badly*
I've never seen that particular episode of Buffy- though I remember the hype around here when it came out and it looked like a fantastic concept for the show. While I don't follow it or angel, I have seen a number of episodes and must admit that the humorous episodes have been the ones I liked the best- from the standpoint of a not dedicated fan. I've always wanted to see that, though. Hopefully you'll enjoy it, too! :-)

Date: 2003-08-02 06:00 pm (UTC)Monk- yep, it's a show about an ex-cop who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and about a hundred phobias who now works as a detective. And his attention for details usually finds him spotting things others miss. It starts Tony Shalhoub who was on 'Wings'. I dunno if you get that over there either. Anyway, I suck at solving the crimes. It's a great show though.

Date: 2003-08-04 07:56 pm (UTC)And I agree about the way they treat the OCD... I think Sherona's presence as a nurse and friend, and the fact that he slowly works himself up to leaving his house and starting to solve cases contributes to that. Whereas in "As Good as it Gets" he did have an outside factor which pushed him, but didn't have as much progress because the motivation wasn't quite as high until you get to the very end. So he was extreme and we had to just accept it without really understanding why or how. I dunno. Monk's just great as a mystery/comedy and I think the success is in the fact that the character knows he's extreme(can see that he does things people find are funny) but doesn't necessarily want to do anything about it and has Sherona to help him out there. Afterall, it is the attention to odd details that help him solve cases :-)
Wish it were still on network so you could see it! I was very happy when they showed it on both- then I could watch it over and see the things I missed :-)
