I just need to bitch a moment to let off some stress...
I've been programming for 4 hours straight(which is nothing) and just attempted to compile my lovely new java classes when suddenly my computer says "Java? What the heck is that? Compile? Why would you want to compile and run your code?"
AH!!!!!!!! I tried moving directories and redoing batch files and still nothing! Which is weird because two days ago it would compile anything for me. If I'd given it a cupcake it probably would have compiled it into java code for me.
After completely freaking out for half an hour, I finally realize that for some reason, SOMETHING installed a new version of java- so instead of 1.3 now I'm running 1.4 (which I did NOT want- I didn't want to upgrade to right in the middle of my thesis work, as you might guess)
Anyway, I redid the batch file and it seems the culpret is my new video driver that I downloaded yesterday. Every so often my compute decided to go all pixlated and green and blue striped. I downloaded a new video driver yesterday which supposedly fixed the problem. But oddly enough, it also installed a new java version for me?????(I don't know much about video drivers, but I hadn't expected them to need up-to-date java!) I really don't get it, but it would have been REALLY nice to have been notified, I'll tell you that! LOL
Growl... time wasted... very frustrated with Microsoft for not telling me what was in the download before I downloaded it. LOL And stupid me, I should have realized I had a brand new folder with a completely different name sitting right in front of me.
Gah... On a happier note... I subscribed to two Wolf's Rain lists in hopes of finding some discussion about the ending of the series (which I don't really understand still) but nada. One is a slash list, though. I'm SLOWLY working up the courage to come out of lurker status on my SBRL list and the Wolf's Rain one and post this cross-over fic. I'd like to know what people think about it, I really would... but I'm SO damn nervous. I'm such a loser lurker. LOL! *hides in corner, hugging fic to chest*
And on a happier and less nervous note, I started another "Remus in Heat" story tonight (the one with Snape) but have decided just to have them yell at each other rather than actually have sex. YAY! *throws confetti* Now Sirius won't have to get mad at Remus for cheating on him with Snape. Which is good. I'm sure the sex would have worked out fine, but I don't know if I could have lived with what it would have done to my perfect little Remus/Sirius pairing. :-)
Of course, slashing Remus with another wolf didn't seem to do anything... but still.. we're talking about Snape here. Besides, the yelling is fun. And making Severus call him a "Poof" is fun *G*
Of course, I'm still nervous about posting this series to a list, too.
I have a horrible feeling "in heat" stories get a bad reception or are trite/overdone in the fandom, though I've only read one, myself. *shrug* I'm still nervous.
