Well, I finished everything I had intended to finish by the dry run today. It's not heavily tested so it will probably break BIGTIME when we try it out and there's no way for me to restart it remotely. So all I can do it hope there are no huge problems that make the system crash. Maybe I'll burn it only CD juuuuuuuuuust in case...
BUT point is, YAY! Finished the draft of the implementation! Boyfriend's going away this weekend, so I plan to spend it renting movies in celebration and setting to work on actually writing the damn thesis :-)
Anyway.. I'm off to bed... boy my hands and wrists HURT from typing. But I need a hot shower and sleep. Meeting is in five hours. *crosses fingers*
Yeah, I know, TMI :-) But hey, I've been bitching so much I thought happy news wouldn't hurt, right? Go, read story if you want something more on topic *G*

a fix to your virus problem
Date: 2003-08-21 09:21 pm (UTC)Sorry, I know I am posting my response to the wrong section but I wanted to make sure that you got this. I too got the same virus or worm. I went to check e-mail yesterday and I had 180 messages. All the same, wicked screen saver or "Details"
I had to break down any buy Norton Anti-virus since McAffee didn't pick it up. It is called "So Big.wmf if I recall. You can read about it on the symantec site or on trends.com
Once I eliminated it, I had no further problems. You can download the fix for it.
Congrats on all the work you have finished and all my best wishes are with you. Happy thesising.
Take Care

Date: 2003-08-22 01:46 pm (UTC)In short, I am sorry. I was just trying to let you know about my experience with this stupid thing. I thought I was being helpful, but it appears that my post was an insult to your intelligence. I didn't mean this. I'll just mind my own business from now on.

Date: 2003-08-22 06:19 pm (UTC)No, you didn't insult my intelligence, I'm glad you were looking out for me. msn and cnn are the only news sources I ever read(never watch tv news) that's where I heard about it. Plus two of our lab computers were infected relatively early on. Sorry that you were too.
Re: a fix to your virus problem
Date: 2003-08-22 06:25 pm (UTC)"One tactic that recent viruses seem to be taking is to arrive in your mailbox disguised as a bounce message from an email you never sent. The idea is to make you wonder, "I didn't send that -- why did it bounce back to me?" Depending on where the virus picked up your address, it may even appear to be from a mailing list that is similar to something you already subscribe to. The entire point is to entice you to launch an unsafe attachment, to satisfy your curiosity and/or irritation.
Don't be fooled! The bottom line is, beware of attachments. Anything with an extension like .exe, .com, .bat, .pif, or .scr is
probably a virus. Even something that appears to have a safe extension may have a 'hidden' extension, such as readme.txt.bat."
