Ah... if there's one think I love about the Star Trek series (apart from brilliant characterizations) are (the) Q :-)

"Captain, this ship will not survive the formation of the cosmos!"
Seriously, now, how many series can have a line like that and have viewers actually worried and not laughing? heehee Okay... so maybe I laughed a little.

Just finished story 2 in my Obi-torture series. LOTS of angst... I need a nap before I can finish editing. Lots of angst... definitely heavy... looking forward to an eventual return to fluff in story 3

Damn, but you're a quick one. LoL. Reading that woke me up - I feel like the dog at dinner time, when the kibble hits the bowl. Fic? Fic? Ficficficficfic...Now, time to continue this process with a cold shower, then it's back to the chemistry mines - as it seems that wishing Avegadro had never lived (or never discovered his evil number) has failed me, yet again.

Looking forward to the abundant angst...

Well, at least it's fun saying 'Avegadro'. Think how horrible it would be if some person with a really ugly name came up with it.
But I'm one to talk. I think chemistry was my worst subject EVER. Except maybe AP physics in high school... which is sad because I aced regular physics. I really, really admire chemistry as a science- the balancing equations part especially. I just can't seem to do it.

Maybe that's why I like Snape so much... able to actually do that kind of thing...

As for the fic... gods it's a depressing one. Good, I think, but much more depressing than I'd anticipated. I'm about 10 times more nervous about it than the first-LOL! I think I might try and finish the third one, then post both together. But we'll see how I feel when I am done editing and more awake :-)

And if you're technical about things... apart from Enterprise(which could still involve them somehow), Q have popped up in all the other Star Trek series... it's a nice consistancy for such a great alien, er, race.

Of course, there's really no beating John DeLancie... and I love his little attachment to Picard :-) Even in his appearances in the other series he mentions the guy *G*

It is! I mean, they've gotta have their fun, right? Can't have that kind of power and not abuse it. :P

Freaking too right. That man is brilliant. And the flamboyance certainly doesn't help if you're trying to see him as straight. But who the hell would want to do that? (Lol! Best scene! Mmm... eyelinerandprettyboysandcurtwild...)

Oh, your icon- just noticed it. It's killing me :-) That's, um, the one from The Gamekeeper, yes? Gods I'm sad. LOL

And really, Picard is just too sexy to resist. If I had those powers... yeah... and Q doesn't really seem to have the er, moral restraint that would make him want to resist abusing it *G*

As for Q's flamboyance- LOL You're so right!
It makes too much sense to want to see him as straight. The other Qs aren't remotely as showy, even if they have similar mindsets about things.

Exactly! And why would he want to when Q can string him along? Gotta amuse yourself when you're a higherbeing-type somehow. ;)

It's like a big neon sign flashing over his head. Especially when you compare him to the rest of the Qs. I always loved him, though. Good to have some flavour on the slightly bland and institutional starship.

LOL, the fact that I can identify which episode it is just by Daniel's adorable little sneeze makes me a SG-1 geek? LOL If I knew it was so easy... ;-) It's my favorite, though. LOL I'm so sad :-)

As for Q- that's very true. And not that Picard is bland either... but with the Shakespeare and the "wanting to read and relax on vacation" bit... well, a little spice in his bland existance is, er, nice too *G* But I've always liked how he acts in relation to the rest of the crew- they all have their little things with him... like Data and the laughing, for example. He really brought a LOT to the ship each time.
And you're very right. The other Q's seem very conservative in comparison (even for all-powerful beings, which is hard to believe, but there they are!)
