More Reality Programming
Sep. 13th, 2003 02:01 pmJust thought I'd mention this all in one post
The Joe Shmoe Show- I'm addicted. It's a little, er, raunchier than I like, but it's on Spike TV for men so it makes sense. I loved the Truman show... and that's what this is. And I think Matt's adorable. I really love the concept- it's like something I'd try and do. Though I feel horrible for the guy and hope he gets something in the end. Still, I really like this show.
For Love or for Money- I acutally don't mind Erin, and I was very happy with the way it turned out. I'm glad she chose who she chose and I was ready to kill him when it seemed he was going for the money- LOL! I'm happy it's over and it turned out well for everyone... except for Rob.
Bravo Series on Reality shows- Bravo had a 5-part series about reality shows last week (they will most likely repeat this sometime) I taped all episodes. I really liked it. Especially yesterday's when it looked at shows in other countries. GODS I wished I lived in Sweden now! SO refreshing to get away from the srot of values America broadcasts on the airwaves. We can show violence but ohhh, a little bit of swearing or sex is against "family values" and all those bloody other Christian concepts that mean nothing. Gah! ANYWAY, point is, I liked the first Big Brother(modelled after the other countries' version) and now can't stand it with all the changes they had to make for Americans to like it. LOL! I think I need a break from America's petty little ways, I really do. Looking at the culture and attitudes in Sweden and Holland and even the UK was SO much more along my lines of thinking and enjoyment. I think I need to learn Swedish now... LOL
It was a great series. I learned a lot. And I enjoyed the interviews and behind the scenes stuff. I' a reality show nut, but within reason. There are plenty of reality shows (like Temptation Island, that hotel one, and Fear Factor) which I WON'T watch. Can't stand. Still, Bravo's series was great. And it was fun to count how many promos for 'The Restaurant' aired during it! And incidentally, it was interesting to see that the concept for The Restaurant had been done in the UK and South America and other parts of the world for years (with different establishments and things) Interesting!
The Family- I'm watching the marathon now. Now this is a show where you love to hate EVERYONE. I guess for me it's just a strong look to a different culture/lifestyle. They're soooo picky about what they wear and eat and blah blah... I have been following this show since last year when it started to air and I just want to see who finally wins! I've seen through peisode 5 or something.... I'm so glad ABC family's reshowing it all... I want to find out who wins and who gets to go back in from the group of those kicked out of the fortune, etc.
OK, that's enough. Anyway. I have a HUGE new respect for reality programming after watching that Bravo series. I'll say that much!
