Just have to say a huge YAY! about all the happy Emmy winners!
Lots of my favorites (like Six Feet Under) didn't win, sadly. But there were some surprising winners I was very happy to see!
First off:
Lead Actor, Comedy Series-
Tony Shalhoub, "Monk," USA- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He TOTALLY deserved to win that, especially compared to the other nominees. He does such a fantastic job on that show!!!! It's great to see him win... now I wish I'd seen that part of the awards show to hear his acceptance speech! *sniffles* Go Tony!
And then:
Lead Actress, Miniseries or Movie-
Maggie Smith, "My House in Umbria," HBO- YAY! Go Maggie!!! I didn't see it, but I saw commercials for it and it looked spectacular. I wish I got HBO at home so I could have seen it!
Reality/Competition Program -
"The Amazing Race," CBS- Again, totally deserved to win compared to the others. They did a great job with that season!
Variety, Music or Comedy Special-
"Cher: The Farewell Tour," NBC- aaawwww! I'm happy about that, too *G*
Miniseries-
Steven Spielberg Presents Taken," Sci Fi- I taped it all... I've been meaning to watch it. It looks really good
Variety, Music or Comedy Series and Writing, Variety, Music or Comedy Program-
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," Comedy Central- YAY!!! VERY happy to see that! They have some of the best comedy writers on tv... and I'm not just saying that because I'm ultra liberal, but because I really enjoy watching that show. There's such a great dynamic with Jon and all the correspondants and delivery of each and every joke is wonderful. But Jon is exceptional. I thought I'd be sad to see someone take Craig's place, but I'm not. I love Jon. He's fantastic. I'm VERY happy about both of its wins! Very much deserved!
Supporting Actor, Drama Series-
Joe Pantoliano, "The Sopranos," HBO- Okay, I'll admit, I've never seen him on The Sopranos. But he 1-sneezes in The Matrix and 2-guest starred in a Highlander 1st season episode(Deadly Medicine, heehee, the one I named the Snape, Sirius/Remus story after) and 3-rocked hard in Memento and I managed to catch his acceptance speech. I LOVE this guy to death. And am soooo happy he's getting his own series this fall. He's such a cutie.
I was happy about a bunch of others (like Tyne and Debra and Wayne) but these were the ones I was bouncing up and down about *G* heehee! Very happy some of my favorites actually won for a change. Yeah, I know. I have weird taste.

Date: 2003-09-22 06:30 pm (UTC)I used to be able to watch those things... back when it was "new" to me. But now every year it's the same and watching isn't fun at all. I like watching the oscars for that musical number they do at the beginning, but that's about it.

Date: 2003-09-22 11:20 pm (UTC)Now I just compulsively watch the Oscars and spend the months beforehand catching up on all the odds and frontrunner gossip. You can darn well bet that I'll be glued to the TV this coming March for that telecast...and if a certain movie doesn't get best picture, you can darn well bet that I'll be screaming and throwing things at my tv! *G*
I'll be glued to it in March 2005 as well. If rumors are true and the cards fall the right way, we may see Orlando up for Best Supporting Actor for Troy! *crosses fingers and starts praying*
