Ohhhh I'm thinking bad thoughts again *G* LOL

Just watched 'Rowing with the Wind' which I bought on DVD because I was mad at missing my opportunity to tape it from TV. Though now I'm QUITE glad I bought it. It wasn't the most inspirational movie I've ever watched... and there were parts I was a bit confused by (whole bits of Italian without subtitles... and a random giraffe in the middle of a house) but on the whole, it was very good. Historically probably crap. But very good.

I've always love Lord Byron and the Shellys and this was an extrodinary look into yet another side of them. Hugh Grant was very good- I actually have really always liked the guy. Not to say he's a favorite... but I suppose I'm a closet Hugh Grant supporter when it comes down to it. And the women were both passable. I expected slightly more from Elizabeth Hurley but she wasn't bad by any means. And Lizzy McInnerny was very good as Mary. The Monster (Frankenstein's monster) was terrible. I wasn't happy with that... but I guess it's hard to play a figment of someone's imagination with a lot of credibility, especially when you're supposed to be a hideous murdering monstrous figure of someone's imagination and have full lines of dialogue.

But Valentine Pelka. Oh, I was pleasantly surprised by him! I've only seen him in Highlander... and in Ivanhoe. So this was a treat for me. A little... less dramatic than I'd wanted at times. But at other times I could just soak up his emotions. Ohhhh and his voice! Every so often I could hear a bit of his other characters in his voice.. that strong, commanding, maddening sort of way of talking. Oohhh it was delightful.
Oh, and the nudity! There's a bit from several of the women. But Velentine gets three separate naked scenes, which now I'm glad I saw on DVD and not off the TV! It's tasteful during the "before sex" scene (there's no actual sex anywhere in the movie, which surprised me with that lot!) and there's a LONG scene with him in the ocean naked... then he comes strutting in afterwards, dripping wet and nude. Oh, the man is wonderful *G* I like how natural it was, too. They didn't try to show it off or hide it. It simply was. Oh and my Valentine was lovely *G*

The poetry and general ways of thinking were nicely integrated- though I would expect as much for a movie about two of my favorite poets *G* And now I'm having terrible thoughts about Byron/Shelly RPS. I've never done RPS. I'm a little scared of it. But at the same time... well... Byron and Shelly look SO fricking handsome all drenched and Valentine's coughing through part of the movie and they're just such GOOD friends! And they're dead and, well, it's really be basing it off fictional accounts of real people more than the real people themselves. So maybe I can work up my courage to do it... we shall see. Valentine's just TOO cute all wet... and hunched over coughing and ill. Awwwwwwwww! And naked. He's damn good naked. LOL
