Wrote a very short Star Wars story tonight. Just felt like doing something very un-challenge related :-) It's an Obi-allergy fic, too, so a little different than my usual. And it's finished, too, so already that's MUCH different than my usual!
Finished watching Dinatopia(for the 6th time) and started The 10th Kingdom(for the 20-somethingth time). It's about 7 hours long, without commercials. I love it to death, I really do. It's brilliant. Simon is my god when it comes to writing. I've honestly never seen more creativity in a realistic fantasy story. *snuggles Simon* Too bad his screenplay for Dinatopia was butchered by editors and execs. I wish I could have read the original. I bet it was brilliant, too :-) Well, actually, Baz is high up there on the creativity scale, too, now that I think of it. Ah, but I'm a writer so I've got to feel more of an affinity with Simon, I think.
And no one's probably still reading this post, so I'll just shut up now. Maybe I'll try to go to bed early. Eh... but it's only 5:30... I dunno... we'll see. I couldn't get my lazy boyfriend to go out with me tonight... or even to stay in and watch a movie. So I'm pampering myself with Simon's fantastic story. Mmmmmmm! And I've GOT to love the wolf! *snuggles Wolf*
Anyway... um... yeah, Star Wars fic- short, but a little funny- posted on sneezefic

Date: 2003-10-25 05:39 am (UTC)And Down with Love... I had a craving tonight to watch that again... there's just something about it that makes it so special... wait, it's Ewan. That was easy. *G*
The LotR tin of popcorn... ohhhhh! That's not bad for $10! Was it pretty? I have no self restraint these days LOL!

Date: 2003-10-25 05:46 am (UTC)The popcorn tin was pretty nice. I'm thinking I'll probably buy it when I take my DVD's back on the due date. It had a fairly sizeable pic of Legolas on it, along with a collage of some of the other main characters like Aragorn and Frodo, plus the TTT logo. My willpower will only last so long *G*

Date: 2003-10-25 05:54 am (UTC)10thK- Yes, the 3-disk set is the long version. Yay! That should help plot-wise. They cut a lot out of the other version. I didn't think the production value was too bad... but maybe I have low standards. I like when things are real rather than all digitally added, no matter how cool they look. If I can actually reach out and touch it then it feels a lot realer to me. And the opening credits won an award or two I think. I just REALLY admire the movie for being able to create a beautiful fantasy world and tie SO many faerie tales into it so well. I'm a sucker for faerie tales.
Wolf- yeah, the chap grows on you. But it took me a few hours for that to happen. He's, well, a baddie, after all :-) But I loved Virginia and Tony. Virginia kicked some serious ass :-) And golden retreivers are my favorite dogs in the whole world.
Trolls- um... there are about 3 parts of the series that I have a hard time with, and they're one of them. Yeah. Um. You get used to being annoyed with them so much that you stop noticing you're annoyed after the 7th "Suck an Elf!"

Date: 2003-10-25 06:26 am (UTC)And yeah, I liked the opening credits. But I can't wait for the real plot to emerge and I hope that it eventually gets away from the hyperactive antics of the Trolls, and Wolf and settles down a bit. Frankly, the first hour was very annoying and exhausting to watch, and I doubt I'd watch it again, even if it gets better later.
They really say 'Suck an Elf'? I could have sworn I heard 'Elf' in there somewhere, but I thought I was just imagining things due to my overwhelming Legolas obsession :)

Date: 2003-10-25 06:34 am (UTC)Yes, LotR special effects, etc. are certainly a lot better than most I've seen. And I don't have a problem with it when I watch it. I just... like to know things are real. And in LotR they *feel* real. In SW not as much(I will always be a fan of the original Yoda, no matter what Frank Oz says!) And while the HP Quidditch scenes are better... they still don't feel "real" to me.
But they're redoing the Narnia chronicle movies with (probably) the same SF company and I'm a little worried that nearly all of it will be digital. I dunno... I like to know that two people are really in the same room acting together or that a being is actually real...
But I do understand what you mean. It's hard looking back at things (like made for tv movies in general) and comparing.
Plot-wise. Yes, it does pick up, certainly. Though the main plot is Evil stepmother wants domination and them trying to stop her and return the prince to his body. And the characters (even the annoying ones) get better. There's at least a 2 or 3 hour stretch in there where it's completely troll-kid-less. Ah... it's a nice section of the movie *G*
And the humor picks up, too. And yes, "Suck an elf" is their catch phrase *shudder* They're supposed to be unlikable, though. LOL
