Harry Potter story posted
Oct. 30th, 2003 04:11 pmI posted my recent allergic!Harry story to lotrhpsneeze. It seems to have posted to the group fine, but I haven't received it in e-mail. Which either means Yahoo is doing something weird or that something I did didn't work. I hope it's not just me.
But anyway, it's short and probably will evoke a lot of sympathy. And it's not just Harry who sneezes in it... I was trying to figure out if I should warn on that level, but decided spoilers weren't a good idea since the fic was short enough. But you'll understand when you get to that part.
Anyhoo... it's posted. It's short and sweet and was a nice, relaxing thing to write. Another fuzzy G-rated story :-) LOL Poor Harry...

Date: 2003-10-31 05:44 am (UTC)And poor Harry! Passing out from too much sneezing!
But glad you liked. :-)
Thanks... I just spell them like I hear them in my head, is all. Though I make Harry's a variation of his father's (or vice-versa) on purpose. Not exactly the same, but some of the same structure/sounds.

Date: 2003-10-31 07:05 am (UTC)I don't know why it never occurred to me until now that Hogwarts would have access to all the standard commercial pharmaceuticals available to the rest of us Muggles. It's easy to forget they even exist when you get wrapped up in Wizarding World stories...I expect potions now, but never even thought of pills...and this coming from a newly licensed pharmacist! Go figure *G*

Date: 2003-10-31 07:15 am (UTC)Well, I like to think that they were "magical" pills in their own right. But it's a common non-magical allergy, so I wouldn't put it past them. I just don't know of any allergy meds that work *that well* for such a strong allergy. So my guess is that they were magiced-up (is that a phrase?) a bit to be more effective.
But, given Ron's doctor vs. healer comment in book 4 and Mrs.Weasley's comment about muggle remedies, I can't imagine it's a common occurance to give pills and the like.
Methinks I give this WAY too much thought. *G*
Anyhoo... glad you liked the story, even it if was short and cute and sweet and goody-goody of me. Need something to balance out the Weasely twins taking each other in the shower scene I'm working on right now *G*
Ohhh and I love Snape. Poor boy. I don't give him *any* breaks in his days at Hogwarts. And well, he went to hospital alone, Harry should have to, too, darnit! heehee Didn't count on Harry actually fainting though. Yeah... just a *little* bit of empathy- which, oddly enough- is the theme of the story and the point of the potion as well. Transferring feelings... being able to change others' emotions/wellbeing... heh heh.
Um, yeah. I give this WAY too much thought. *hits self in head* Tis only supposed to be a light little fic...
