I just watched the Fake OAV. Awwwwww! What adorable guys *G*
But right from the start I felt huge Remus/Sirius vibes coming from it. Which only intensified as I watched. WAY too many similarities. And when Dee jumped on the motorcycle...
Of course the characters were different enough for me to like them in their own rights. And I do. They're quite adorable. It just felt totally Remus/Sirius and I hadn't really expected it to. Not that that's a bad thing by any means ('specially with Dee sneezing there at the beginning and Ryo taking care of him halfway through and the kissing *sigh* I was in heaven- not 'Starlight Heaven', mind, but close, LOL)

I was slightly confused by the language thing... it's just really odd to be listening to Americans staying in England speaking in Japanese while I'm reading English subtitles. And it's *really* weird to hear a Japanese-hater speaking in Japanese about why he hates the Japanese. Very odd. I kept having to remind myself what language each one was supposed to be speaking :-) Though I wouldn't have traded Seki Tomokazu's lovely voice for a more accurate dubbing *G*

Anyhoo, I adored. Lots of cute, warm fuzzies. I just would have liked to have seen them get it on at the end. But, eh, I can't have everything. And the kisses and sexual tension were excellent. But the taking care of each other/saving each other vibe was even better. They so totally care for each other *snuggles the boys*

Oh my goodness, Fake is without a doubt my FAVORITE Japanese animation/manga. The manga moreso though, because that's what I got into first. Dee and Ryo are just... Yum. Rawr. *g*

Heh. In the manga, Ryo is the one to get sick, and Dee takes care of him. *big grin* I love it so. And Bicky is just adorable. ^-^

Anyway, just wanted to say that. I highly reccomend reading the manga. Much lovely snogging. ^^ Yum.

Awwwwww! TG is SO going to have to splurge on manga when she gets her next paycheck, that's for sure! I was going through a few pics taken from it a little while ago... ohhh very lovely snogging indeed!

They just have wonderful chemistry... it's not quite a relationship... and yet neither is really struggling *that* hard for it not to be. It's very cute. And the secondary characters, well, they're certainly interesting enough on their own as well. Rose is, whoa, very easy on the eyes. The kids seem like a lot of fun. Though I'm still a tad unsure about J.J. LOL

But Dee and Ryo... ohhh... very yummy! The problem with OAVs is that they're much too short for my liking! Yes, going to have to splurge for the manga methinks.

Yes. The mangas are worth it. Just buy them one or two at a time and it's not TOO horrible. There are only four issues of Fake out, but the fifth comes out in December. And they're so horribly addictive. I must have read the Ryo-is-sick-and-Dee-looks-after-him bit about a thousand times lol! It was SUCH a lovely surprise. The poor baby.

They DO have wonderful chemistry. They get along without being too sugary about it. I mean, they're really close but they have disagreements and they banter. Which is an important part ot a relationship. Or a soon-to-be relationship (we hope. Hee) They just work so WELL together. I enjoy it immensely. Though you're right about J.J. He's iffy. Heh.

They're only $10 on amazon... and less if you buy multiples (they have a deal with it and Gravitation mangas, which I want as well anyway) So I think I really will. I might just save up and have an anime splurge day where I don't feel guilty about buying any of it. :-)

I know I'll thank myself later. And you're right. They are very different people- and their banter and the tension between them is very crucial to their relationship. But the caring's there too- without being too sweet, you're right. *G* I really like 'em :-)

I watched the 1-hour OAV
Twas very cute and then some! They head off for a vacation alone together, get caught up in a murder investigation, get their party crashed by the kids and J.J.... probably the standard :-)
I'm totally buying the manga now *G*

Ooh, isn't Fake the cutest? I love the OAV and the manga... The OAV for Seki Tomokazu and the manga for being just too damn cool. I thought the Japanese language conundrum was a strange one as well, but it doesn't really take away from the OAV.

I need to get my hands on the third manga. Maybe I'll do that next time I'm at the book store. I need to see if the second Naruto is out, anyway...

Is it really sad when you can identify the Seiyuu by his sneeze? I had *no* idea it was Seki Tomokazu in the role until that sneeze- which I feel stupid for not knowing because I've read through his bios enough times. But I was thrilled to find out. That must have been the reason I bumped it up on my "need to watch" list.

Anyhoo... I think I'm going to have a "splurge on anime" day next packcheck- after I get the rent and bills paid for the month as well. I just need something to cheer me up and make me finish this darn thesis! LOL

I have never read Fake. What's it about? I can gather that it's a YAOI manga, but what's the plot?
Also, I have a sort of odd question. Where do you find the subbed Animes? I haven't been able to dig them up, as the only site I'd ever heard of in off line now, it seems. I'm dying to watch Gravitation. Thtanks, Gayle

Fake is about two cops, one is half Japanese and his name is Ryo. Dee is his partner in the workplace who's one ambition it seems is to get into Ryo's pants. Ryo is kind of in/out the closset, so it's funny to see them kissing, and Ryo debating it in his head. They solve crimes along with these two kids that they are looking out for. The first manga is really good cuz Ryo gets sick and Dee looks after him! It's too cute!

Where do I find mine? Off Kazaa. Yes, I know, I'm terrible and illegal and all. But I buy most of what I download either before or after and just like a digital copy for myself(er, usually for making fan music vids with) Anyway, that's where I get mine. I use it to feel around and get a taste, then I go and spend all my money anyway *G*

Amazon.com does have *a lot* more anime than I would have thought. www.deepdiscountdvd.com was recommended to me-and they seem to have good prices on some things (I'm certainly buying DVDs from them over amazon.com)
Lots of video rental places have stuff... just none of the places near me because I live in the boonies.

And Annalisa seems to have given you a great description of the show, so go with that *G* They're NYC cops- the OAV involves one particular case of theirs while they're out trying to have a vacation together(away from the kids and the boss) Lots of kissing and lots of Dee(I still think "Ken!" every time I hear him talk)'s attempts at getting Ryo into bed. *G*
