Rocky Night
Oct. 31st, 2003 02:32 amRocky Horror was... interesting. I didn't dress up (which is always difficult to explain when you're not a virgin) But we met up with a few friends, and then a few more random ones, and we had a good time. It was a nice way to spend part of Bush's "Protection from Pornography Week" *gag*
Theme tonight was glow-in-the-dark night, and they did an excellent job with that. Lots of black lights, glowing stickers on people, those little wands/bracelets kids wear out trick-or-treating, etc. Sometimes the blacklights interfered with the action on stage/floor, though. I've a feeling they didn't do enough run-throughs as they should have. They had a group of belly dancers perform last year. This year they had several fantastic drag queens. Damnit, I wish *I* could dance that well! And some of the moves- whoa! I was highly impressed, while trying to explain to friends that there were specialized techniques for not showing one's cock beneath one's dress. They were rather distrubed at how turned-on they got by watching the drag queens perform so well. Oh, and I had to keep reminding boyfriend that they were *ladies* not the cheep pole dancers at the strip club. Show some respect! heehee
The movie was all right... the cast was pretty damn good. The virgin-antics sucked much. And they forgot to explain the point of the underwear run so only about 20 people participated in it... and no one went naked! *pout* The transvestites working the auditorium were terrible. Hardly spanked, didn't bother giving out cirtificates, barely knew the proper lines to shout out half the time. No one said a few of my favorites *sniffles* But worst of all, they showed a version without the 'Superheoroes' number in it! GAH! What the heck?! That's not right! My boyfriend and I really get into the "Stumble-stumble-fall" part in that song. It's one of the few lines that he knows. So I was highly depressed when suddenly the house was gone and the ground spinning and it was over! :-(
It seems the club at my uni do a really goo d job with some things and not others one year, then the next year they practice what they did wrong last and improve only to mess up on the things they did well before. The lighting was terrible, sound was even worse. But decorations, sets, and costumes were fantastic- especially incorporating the theme.
Anyway, I had a good time, then came home and watched Survivor. Holy... wow!!! I was *not* expecting that!!! I love that show. It never fails to impress and surprise me. And I'll say it again, I love Rupert and I want him to win it all!

Silverelf here. Too lazy to logout lol
Date: 2003-10-31 08:02 am (UTC)I wish I could talk about going to RHPS, but as I've never BEEN {they only do it at one theater, and it gets sold out a month in advance. You thinkg I would learn to buy tickets in August. Argh.} I can't compare stories. Sob. Maybe next year.
But yes. Spoil me for Survivor? Pleeeeeeeeeze? :D

Date: 2003-10-31 08:19 am (UTC)Yeah... nice thing about living in a liberal college town. They do it at least twice a year only (sometimes 5 on good years) and we've got a whole club of about 30 people who put it together. Tickets are $3... only had a few sold-out shows ever because seating's insane. It's really a lot of fun. I enjoy being wild and having an excuse to flaunt myself sexually in public once a year :-) And I'm slowly learning the lines. I've got maybe... 25% of the lines down by now. Which is hardly any. But it's still fun to pelt friends with rice and shtuff :-)
OK... so, SPOILERS FOR SURVIVOR! (I wish I could just beam my video tape over to you!) No merge. Not even *close* to a merge.
Drake and Morgan went to their immunity challenge- 5 members in each tribe. Then all 6 evicted tribe members walked onto the beach and stood separately. They're a new tribe, and they call themselves The Outcasts. All THREE tribes compete. If either Drake or Morgan or both are defeated by The Outcasts, then they go vote out a member, and the Outcasts vote a member back INTO the game into one of their tribes in the empty spot!
So, all three compete- the competition is one of speed and skill. One member: races across the beach and back for a flag. Then burrows a hole in the sand under a bamboo fence to get into a chamber and untie a second tribe member. Both dig under the sand to a second bambooed-off chamber where there's another member or two. They untie and gather wood in the chamber, fastening the wood together with bits of cloth to form a pole and retrieve two keys that are outside the cage. Then they unlock the door and move to the last chamber where they must retrieve another key by building a really long stick. The first tribe with all members and flag out wins.
So, fueled by vengence, The Outcast tribe wins! So BOTH Drake and Morgan go to tribal council.
Drake- Rupert and the girls asked Jon and Shawn to say why they wanted to stay- each had 2 minutes. Then they went to tribal council and rehashed it all for Jeff. Then they voted and Shawn got sent home 4-to-1 (Shawn voted for Jon, obviously) So he's gone.
Morgan- Osten(sp?) gives up and lies down his torch- first time EVER that anyone has voluntarily left! Jeff almost laughed at him. They didn't even vote. Jeff just asked and he said "I want to leave, my body's had it" and he left. Wow. So he's gone (finally, his whining was annoying me)
They stopped the show RIGHT after both councils. So we don't know who's going to be coming back into the tribes. The Outcast must vote two people back into the game in the next episode to rejoin the tribes.
So next time should be interesting! I like Skinny Ryan the best, but I know he's got no hope compared to some of the others that were voted out and are now in The Outcast tribe.

Date: 2003-10-31 08:11 pm (UTC)Aww, RHPS sounds like so much fun! Like I said, I wish they did it around here. They might do it more out in Vancouver/Robson area, but I'm not sure if I would be willing to go into a heavy crime area just to see the show. We'll see though. Hee. Sounds like too much fun.
Ok, now onto Survivor!
My first reaction when reading that was OH MY GOD ARE YOU KIDDING?! That's insanity! You know, the more I watch this season, the more and more I adore it! It's so original and twisty! My entire family watches the show, and we all sit around afterwards talking about it. So last week we were all talking about what's going to happen when they merge, how they figure Rupert will be the first one voted off because he's so strong and so on. But having the ones voted out come BACK is just incredible! And I bet it makes them feel damn good to have another chance to compete. That's awesome. Did any of them dres better this time? *g*
I'm SO glad to hear that Osten got voted out. He was just ANNOYING after the first three episodes. I'm halfway thinking that his body wasn't falling apart, he was just tired of losing. And I guess if he 'voluntarily left', then he wouldn't consider that losing in his book. He could say 'Oh, I didn't get voted off, I left.' Yeah, right Osten. That makes you seem like a big ol' manly man. But I'm a little confused. Do Shawn and Osten join the Outcasts now, or do they just go home? Hmm..
SKINNY RYAN! Skinny Ryan was the BEST, aside from Rupert. I absolutely adored him. But you're right, he wouldn't have much of a chance against some of the others. Wouldn't it be funny if he came back and lasted until the end though? Now THERE would lie a plot twist!
Why oh WHY do I always miss it when something GOOD happens? Grr, argh. The night that Rupert was sent to the other tribe, I was on the phone to my fiancee and I forgot that it was Thursday night! Heh. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be able to find someone who has them on tape. I hope!
Thanks! :)

Mine, too! I was about to leave for Rocky when the episode finished and my mother phoned right away, I had to beg her not to tell me anything as I'd taped it and was watching it later.
And they say tv tears families apart! Ha!
Rupert- well, I love the guy to death and I didn't want to see him leave- but I was darn surprised he wasn't gone last week! That was some good scheming on his part. And this week he YELLED at Jon for voting for him. BIG arguement. And I was reallly surprised it was Shawn who went home! I really dislike Jon bigtime.
But having the ones voted out come BACK is just incredible! And I bet it makes them feel damn good to have another chance to compete. That's awesome. Did any of them dres better this time? *g*
Usually they send the voted off people on some sort of trip or something so that they don't go home too early (so their friends/family don't know they've been voted out early) So this time they kept them around- apparently they were living off rations as well- very low protein diet and such (whoo, lucky them!) so they didn't have an advantage over the others. I don't remember their clothes, now that you mention it! I think they were wearing different things from when they were on the island (I don't remember Lil's boyscout uniform) but I could be wrong. That detail is fuzzy.
I'm SO glad to hear that Osten got voted out. He was just ANNOYING after the first three episodes... And I guess if he 'voluntarily left', then he wouldn't consider that losing in his book.
LOL! You have a point! Actually, Jeff talked to him about that. Jeff asked everyone what they thought of it and the other four said (paraphrased) "Damn right I'd never quit like this! But I respect his decision" And Jeff turned to Osten and said "Listen to your tribe! How can you quit like this?" To which Osten says "Yeah, I suppose you could call it quitting. Sure, I'm quitting. But my body's a temple, it's like a car that's run out of gas. And it means more to me than a million dollars."
Wow. At least he made Survivor history in his exit :-)
But I'm a little confused. Do Shawn and Osten join the Outcasts now, or do they just go home?
From what I gather, they just go home. Jeff said "go home" about six time in reference to them being voted out. I think he was trying to make it clear. But you know survivor! I think they do go home, though.
I just keep thinking how much longer this season is going to be now that they're doing this! Every week someone goes home... and though 2 left this week, two come back next week!
I'd LOVE that! They were talking about him earlier in the episode, before they knew about the Outcast tribe, about how he was so skinny he'd be dead since they were all losing so much weight (Morgan STILL cannot figure out how to catch fish. Even though Rup showed them, they tried and failed several times in this episode and then complained about how they wanted to eat fish)
I hope!
I'm sure *someone* must! Every season I end up missing one of the good episodes. I missed the merge one year, and missed part of the last episode another year. But I'm sure- at the least- they'll show all the good moments on the recap next week- otherwise people will be very confused as to what happened if they hadn't seen it!
