Making me feel guilty
Nov. 4th, 2003 07:10 amAn article from CNN about how many sites are frozen in time or not updated enough. REALLY sad to think that I contribute to this by having at least 18 of these frozen-in-time sites/blogs right now. Yikes!!!
I finished work, BSed an e-mail to advisor, and am taking the morning off to sleep and take pain meds. Yay!
Most exciting moment of night: Cat chasing a moth all over my bedroom, finally taking a leap off my dresser and pinning it to the ground where he proceeded to chew, spit it out, and pat it around the floor until it stopped moving.
Second most exciting moment of night: Watching Kizuna 1-3. Interesting. I don't quite know what to make of the pairing... but I'm certainly digging the hurt/comfort relationship. Though the dominance/submission vibes are curious. And the sex is lovely *G* Weird, though. Not quite sure what to make of it, still. I think my problem is that there really isn't anything BUT a story about their relationship. Not much of a plot... (there is a little, but it's not as much as any other anime I've ever watched) just them... and tension... and sex... and worry... and making up... and protesting followed by quick advances. Don't get me wrong, the guys are wonderful... I think I just need more than relationship advancement to string an episode together.

Watching Kizuna 1-3.
OMG! Where did you get your hands on #3? 1 and 2 were released here commercially (and they did a really bad job with the DVD IMNSHO...hardcoded subtitles with really bad timing so that you couldn't follow it well unless you had at least some fangirl-level Japanese, no menu to speak of...) and #3 was supposedly fansubbed for ShoujoCon, but I hadn't seen anything about #3 being available anywhere, even through fansubbers. Ooooh! I love love LOVE Enjouji and Ran-chan and Masa, and Kei kind of grew on me too...I've been trying to read the manga, but my language skills aren't up to meeting the challenge yet.

Date: 2003-11-04 09:33 pm (UTC)1&2 were very hard to follow dubbing-wise. I don't know if they were DVD-ripped or fan-subbed, but they were terrible. They'd start a sentence and then finish it on the next 'slide' more times than they wouldn't, when it was easier just to show them all at the same time. And they'd put the dub up long before anyone even spoke.
#3 (an OAV, just to be sure we're talking about the same one) was adorable. The art was better, also. But the quality of my version was terrible (improved a little of the ways through it) I'd be happy to put it online for you, though! Just drop me an e-mail to remind me.
I liked #3 for its angst (a lot about how the accident furthered their relationship) and humor.
And I love the boys to bits. Well, half the time I was to slap Enjouji for pushing Ran into having sex... but Ran oddly doesn't seem to resist for too long... and once I got to #2 I started really like Kei... the Masa flashbacks with him were adorable. I could see a LOT of potential for the manga... there's a lot of deep emotions and things hidden under the surface that it seems these were based off of but that couldn't be fully explored in the eps. But all the characters are lovely... I just need something more than just that, plot-wise, I think. But I really did like them... a lot... 'specially Ran :-)
Anyway... if you want me to put #3 online for you- again, warning, it's not the best of copies, just drop me an e :-)

Date: 2003-11-04 10:49 pm (UTC)I'd only just heard that there was a #3 about a year and a half ago and hadn't heard anything about it. I'd LOVE to see more about their relationship. I've managed to figure out bits and pieces from the manga...and...*blinkblink as lightbulb goes on* *runs to do a search*...oooh! There are manga translations up! http://ook0.tripod.com/kiz.html I'm thinking I need to sit down with my manga and the translations and have fun! ^_^ But...umm...yeah. Anyway. -_-;; Yeah, I did adore the characters and getting to see more of them would be lovely! Thanks in advance!!! I'll drop you an e-mail after class tonight.
