Fannish stuff
Nov. 7th, 2003 09:17 pmFirst off- The Clone Wars (animated short series). I didn't hate it. Obi, I could lick to death. Ani... eh... not the best... and the first chapter seemed to have a lot of things stuck in to try and get us all conntected to it... like beating up the droids (poor widdle droads!) and the Anakin/Kenobi rift growing as BOTH Obi-Wan and Yoda don't want him to go on the mission as they doubt his ability to handle it (not so much where skill is involved) and the damn Emperor pushes him into it. And I was a little angry that Obi had a lovely reflecting moment and uses it to doubt his master. Grrr! My Obi would *never* doubt Qui-Gon's skills! Grr! heehee But in all, it was certainly cute and interesting and filled the void until movie 3 comes out!!!

GAH!!! Another HORRIBLE picture of Thewlis!!! *cries* And Sirius' poster... ick. And I'm not getting used to those prison stripes- WAY too American. And Snape protecting the kids?! I'M SORRY! I have that shack scene memorized and there's no WAY he'd be protecting them! Scared to death that Lupin might kill him, yes. Pushing them back out of the way so he can have a clear shot to stun Lupin, yes. But this is not canon and if he goes and tries to save their asses so nobly like this I'm not going to enjoy that scene at all! *sniffles* I have a feeling I'm not going to enjoy the movie very much. But it's okay. I can always re-read the book to hear the way it's supposed to have happened. And I'll just remind myself it's one guy's interpretation. If I had my way, the movie would be 10 hours long and there would be romantic music playing in the background when Remus goes and embraces Black like a brother. *G*

Date: 2003-11-08 03:54 am (UTC)I also agree that *The Hug* should be the highlight of the movie, as it is in the book, and I would love for it to be perfect too, music and lighting and everything...just perfect!

Date: 2003-11-08 04:17 am (UTC)Exactly... from memory (so it might be a little off) I believe the quote is "There was a mad glint in [Snape's] eyes that Harry had never seen before. He seemed beyond reason."
Now, he did THINK he was saving Harry from "a convicted murderer and a werewolf". He says to Harry(again, I might be a little off, this is from memory) "Like father like son, Potter. I have just save your neck. You should be thanking me on bended knee. You would have been well-served if he'd killed you! You'd have died like your father, too arrogant to believe you might be mistaken in Black" But he says this in order to get Harry to move so he can aim at Black. Again, it is a rage-filled sort of saving. The saving sort of goes along with his revenge- it's the revenge that's foremost in his mind. He doesn't jump in front of them, prepared to sacrifice himself to werewolf Lupin to keep the kids behind him safe. No. Um... that's just a big fat no. And there's plenty of evidence of his hostility all the way through and at the end, you're right. This just... doesn't sit well with me.
Not to say he's not noble and doesn't try to save them at times... like HP1 muttering the counter curse... or much of HP5 working for the good guys (supposedly). But to throw himself in front of the trio to protect them with his life... that's too dramatic a thing for Snape to do. He's too obsessed with the situation in a personal way in HP3... and he's supposed to be unconcious at that point, anyway! Ug... I hope they don't destroy the shack scene... I hope it goes just like in the book... I hope that the fact that he's conscious during Lupin's transformation doesn't mean they butchered the shack scene!!
I also agree that *The Hug* should be the highlight of the movie, as it is in the book, and I would love for it to be perfect too, music and lighting and everything...just perfect!
heehee! I swear- I've said it before and I'll say it again- if they cut out that hug I will NOT be a happy fan!!! Even if it is Thewlis... my boys have got to hug. I don't care how it looks to American audiences or whatever... they've just GOT to hug! They're friends! And lovers! *G* They'd totally hug. And it'd better be a good one if it can't be perfect! LOL

Date: 2003-11-08 09:47 pm (UTC)I'm just really having problems with the new characters. Problem is, I've read/listened to book 3 at least 50 times now and know it and love it so well... more than the other books... so I don't want to see this turn out as a terrible movie. Little additions and changes are okay... but making an unconscious character conscious and doing something he'd never do is, um, not sitting well with me.
The tatoo... I read somewhere that it is a variation of a symbol that means something... but I don't want to dig up the posts and find it. That was, like, 5 or 6 months ago. It means his name, I think. I dunno. It's... interesting... I'm not so worried about it since it doesn't really go against the canon, like his short hair does. But I love Gary Oldman and have confidence that he'll play the part well. I'm just... worried about Remus since he's my favorite character. And my favorite scenes are in that book. I don't want them butchered. You're exactly right. I will be biting my nails... I just have little faith in the director and new actors right now... that's my problem(and I just can't get used to so much muggle clothing and Draco's new hair). Hopefully that will change once I get used to seeing the trailer next week! :-)
Oh, I completely agree. I know I'll be crying during some of the Sirius parts in the movie, knowing what happens to him in OotP. *sniffles*

Date: 2003-11-08 10:06 pm (UTC)Yep, movie's going to be released in June... but the trailer's out already. You'll notice there's nothing big that takes special effects like Quidditch or a patronus in the trailer.
I'm SO looking forward to the trailer, though! Even if I don't like the "something wicked" refrain in it.
As for Draco... I can't wait to see him beaten up by Buckbeak! WHOOHOO! Especially with that hair. LOL! Apparently all the Slytherins have snake rings and tie clips this year... the kids decided they were gifts from Lucius. I'm happy about little touches like that that have been added. It's the big things I'm worried about!
Pam Ferris is a lot of what I imagined Aunt Marge to be... especially her voice and general look. It's not exact... but it's close. And I think she looks a lot like the Vernon and Dudley they cast. I think she'll do a good job. *crossing fingers* Even if she's not exactly what I pictured either.
