Nov. 7th, 2003 09:35 pmJust some HP3 ramblings...
I find it very interesting that, in doing the promotion for HP3, they are revealing that Remus is a werewolf, right from the start. That was such a huge secret in the book... though nermal's stories ruined that for me (my own fault for reading them! LOL!) But they don't seem to be revealing that Sirius is innocent. So maybe there will be elements of surprise kept in there for the movie audience who aren't devoted readers. This is interesting to me. I can't imagine they could have kept Remus' secret, especially if they're releasing toys and such for the movie. But I expect that we'll be able to purchase Padfoot plushies as well (Actually, I DEMAND it!) so it'll be interesting to see how long the 'general public' can go without finding the secrets about Sirius out. It seems that they are hyping him as a criminal- especially in the trailer. So I'd like to see how long they can keep it up :-) Sooooo hard when the book's out there and people have read it even years ago. But I would have thought keeping Remus' werewolf condition secret would be slightly easier than Sirius' innocence... at least at this stage of the game.

Date: 2003-11-08 04:21 am (UTC)Johnny Depp would certainly have been great... especially since he can fake the accent well enough, though he wouldn't have been considered given his nationality. But he doesn't quite fit the Sirius in my mind. I really don't know if anyone could, though.
Thewlis looks like he might be able to come close to my idea of Remus... but he looks damn horrible in every official picture I've seen him in movie-wise. Just... ick... it'd better just be that he's not photogenic right now. *sigh* Ewan's always lovely in pictures...

Date: 2003-11-08 07:47 am (UTC)I'm sure it'll be good, but I cannot stand remakes of my favorite movies when the originals are so special to me. I don't understand this trend in Hollywood and their need to remake movies that are already incredible. Aren't there enough poor movie ideas that get cast away or enough stories that beg to be movies that never make it? Or fantastic indie movies that never make it to real theaters? When we spend out time re-making movies that were perfectly find before-hand. GRRR! I'm sorry, I know the beauty of the story is that it's open to so much imagination. And there are so many ways to go with it... and I'm sure they'll do a fine job. But... I love the original. And I don't like the thought of another one. *pout*
