Untitled SW Short
Nov. 14th, 2003 08:14 amI was sifting through all my unfinished stories while trying to be brilliant with my research... and came across this piece from three years ago. I don't believe I posted it anywhere as it's a short PWP that I had anticipated being a full fic but it didn't want it. I thought I'd share anyway. Just a warning... it's terribly dialogue-driven. And nothing happens. LOL!
OH! And if anyone has any more Legolas-and-the-bush bunnies for me, I'd GLADLY accept them! I have an idea of how I want to end the series... but I want to be sure I'm out of all interesting combinations before I end it.
Anyway, back to the Jedi boys. This story is... I dunno... PG? With maybe implied PG13 stuff? I'm terrible at rating things. When you start to think Slytherin gang bangs and twins jerking each other off is the norm, ratings tend to get screwed up in your mind ;-)
Untitled Qui and Obi short-
“eehhChishh! ehiihshh!”
Qui-Gon sat down on the edge of the bed, placing a box of tissues next to him. He reached over and stroked his Padawan’s forehead gently. “Well, that settles it, we’re staying home today.” Shaking his head, Obi-Wan tried sitting up, but Qui-Gon eased him back down. “Oh no you don’t.”
“The reception is tonight. We need to help prepare. We—“
“The only thing you’re going to be doing is staying in bed unless you’d rather I escort you to the healing dome. Those are your choices.”
Obi-Wan sighed, rubbing his nose. “I am not sick.”
Laughing. “Sure you’re not. You’re just running a temperature and sneezing every two minutes. That’s perfectly normal, right?”
Obi-Wan grumbled, crossing his arms. “It’s sniff, sniff, just the sniffles.”
The only time Obi-Wan was disagreeable or even remotely refused to follow orders was when he was sick. Knowing this fact well, Qui-Gon shook his head. “Perhaps it is just the sniffles now, but you know how many times we’ve been through this. Sniffles turn to sneezes, then to a head cold, then the fever kicks in with the aches and chills and altogether miserableness. I do not want the whole contingent catching cold, and I certainly do not want you running about with the preparations. If you’re no worse by tonight, I’ll consider letting you go to the reception. Otherwise,” he said, adjusting the covers to tuck them to the sitting man’s waist. “You’ll be staying right here and taking care of yourself. All right?”
Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow and gave a smile. “I’d rather if you took care of me.”
“Ohhh, would you now?” He caressed the young man’s cheek. “Master Qui-Gon gets to play doctor, hmmm?”
With a sly smile, “Or nurse.”
Qui-Gon grabbed a spare pillow and hit Obi-Wan upside the head with it.
“Not very nice!” Obi-Wan explained, righting himself with a pout. “ehhhishh! ehhhChish! Sniff! Taking advantage of the sick.”
“If that’s what you call taking advantage, my Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon said softly, a hit of playfulness in his eyes. “Then I think the Master will need to teach his Padawan a lesson on their day off.” He dove beneath the covers.
Obi-Wan smiled a moment, then gasped with pleasure, throwing his head back. “I think I like this lesson,” he whispered. Chuckling, “Will there be a test involved, Master?”
Qui-Gon’s head poked out from beneath the blankets. His hair was messed and clung to the blankets from static. But his face wore a bright grin. “Undoubtedly. Best to practice as much as you can for it.”
And accordingly, Obi-Wan slipped entirely beneath the covers as well to make full use of staying home a day with Qui-Gon before the full extent of the illness sank in.

Date: 2003-11-14 10:08 pm (UTC)It was really cute how Qui Gon knew exactly how to act with Obi Wan, and we all knew that Obi wasn't gonna get to go, but Qui Gon appeased him by giving him a maybe. I know that's how to shut me up, just give me a maybe. lol.
I loved this, it was soo cute. Thank you so much for sharing!

Date: 2003-11-15 10:34 am (UTC)Actually, I don't paln on extending it... as I can't really get into what goes after (I've tried... it's just not coming to me) and as for your fantastic description about before, that sounds fighteningly like the 3-parter Obi/Qui-flu story I'm close to finishing up(or at least the first part, where Qui discovers that Obi is sick). So I might just pump my energy into that one and get it done. The middle part is giving me trouble.
Oh, but yes, totally. I'm sure Qui-Gon is fantastic at giving "maybe"s to Obi when he really means "Heck no!" And of course Obi wouldn't admit that he was probably better off for it.
Gah... this is sounding way too much like my Ben/Quinn story now (which I'm HOPING to finish today!) LOL!
Anyway, thanks! Glad you liked it and thought it was cute! I like it, too... I'd just like it better if I hadn't spent so much time forcing it to be finished and failing pathetically.

Plot bunnies! :)
Date: 2003-11-14 10:54 pm (UTC)Hmmmm...how shall our lovely Elf meet the bush again? Also, I wonder if anyone in the Fellowship besides Aragorn and Gandalf ever learned of this allergy. Also, depends on what time period you'd like to set it in. Whatever you choose, maybe some of these ideas can help:
-an innocent Hobbit prank with unexpected consequences
-a vindictive prank by one of Legolas's friends/siblings when he was younger
-Inspired by your Obi-Wan fic, someone is fascinated by the idea of a sneezing elf and decides to play a little...either with or without Legolas's permission
-Accidental run-in with leaves from the bush in the Houses of Healing in Minas Tirith (perhaps in an attempt to treat him for something else there, like a non-life-threatening wound. Leaves could be in a salve, a tea, or just hanging on the wall or in a drawer in the room. I'm really fond of this idea, if you can't tell *G*)
-the bush could be growing in the gardens near the White Tower...the same gardens that he vowed to help Arwen make bloom again
-Legolas could be really drunk and stumble into it
-Do those bushes shed pollen, seed pods, etc? There could be a really high concentration of those bushes in the mountains around Minas Tirith and they could really give him problems during certain times of the year.
Ok, that's all I've got for now, but I could probably come up with more if you'd like. Hope that helps!

Date: 2003-11-14 11:05 pm (UTC)Legolas drunk? LOL! He's got much too much sense for that... *G*
I, too, adore the "Accidental run-in with leaves from the bush in the Houses of Healing in Minas Tirith" idea... though really all the ideas are fabulous! Each of the stories has an emotional factor to it (being brave and silent, being pissed off, trying to hide it but wanting comfort, having to admit the truth and wanting comfort from a lover, etc. So I'd have to come up with something that fit each plot- and as your bunnies are nice, that shouldn't be a problem. And as far as finding it by mistake vs. knowingly, I seem to be alternating so it might be fun to keep that pattern...) Thanks much!!! *G*
