Just got back of RotK. No spoilers, I promise!

But wow! That was incredible. I went through nearly an entire package of tissues. Mostly good laughter. And lots of the time just because of how beautiful everything looked. But I cried A LOT. It was fantastic. Kinda sad at some parts that were cut out, but I knew they would be. But as a whole. Wow. Incredible. That was really a spectacular movie :-) *claps hard*

My reaction was almost exactly the same as yours, except I didn't cry the first time I saw it, mostly just because I was too busy being awed...the second and third times, I bawled like a little baby.

Ok, now that you've seen it, I can give you this link. It's a very amusing parody of 'A Christmas Carol' that raises some damn good points about LOTR canon. Enjoy!

Actually, before the movie I was going through a bunch of parts mentally from other movies, and feeling a little bitter that Haldir was dead instead of being all happy and alive as Tolkien had him...
And the first thing I said after coming out of the movie (apart from I have to go to the bathroom, can you hold my purse?) to boyfriend was that in the book Sam was told he could go one day because he bore the ring for a short while as well. And that Leg & Gim went off together. And then I went on about how good the movie was before getting back to the sea-longing and other parts cut out... :-)

Anyway, I'm going to go read more. LOL Thank you for the link!!!

Slight spoilers...


Saw RotK on Thursday and thought it was just outstanding! I loved every minute of it, and thought the men were more than usually handsome and courageous and heroic....as were some of the women in this story! ("I am NOT just any man!") I am a sure bet for crying....and how can you not at certain parts like where Sam is carrying Frodo, and when Sam comes around the corner of Frodo's room and just stands there looking at him after all that they have shared....and again, when Frodo sets sail, and then there's the moment Aragorn sees his faithful Arwen...I remember at one time I realized there were tears dripping onto my shirt!


But I loved it, and I thought they did as good a job as they could do considering *some things* had to be cut. I wanted to see the love story between Eowyn and Faramir, but that was only barely hinted at....and that only if you knew that you were looking for a sign of it! But yeah, for all of us fans of the books, there is a great deal left untold...some of our favorite characters left out....

Still, I will go back to see it in a heartbeat, forget all that I just said! I am really not sad about those things at all when it comes to the perspective of "Should I even see it again?" OH HECK YES!!!

Awwww! Yay! Moi aussi. I think I'm going to try and drag my family to see it when I go home for the holidays.

Let's see... times I cried:
-First glimpse of Minas Tirith
-First glimpse of Oliphaunts in battle
-The first glimpse of the tree
-Merry & Pippin drinking/singing
-Merry & Pippin parting
-Merry begging to fight... and being swooped up by Eowyn
-Frodo yelling at Sam, Sam begging Frodo to see reason
-Frodo pulling out the star... and Frodo getting hurt
-Sam crying over Frodo, and Sam insulting himself for thinking Frodo was dead
-Pretty much every single minute of Sam and Frodo, really. Especially Sam carrying the ring... and Frodo taking it back, and them trying to get to the mountain... and they trying to get away
-First glimpse of the dead coming out and surrounding them (at which point I flashed on TTT when the three of them were also surrounded at sword/spear-point)
-The eagles! Ohhhhh! The EAGLES!!!! Oh, and their rescue of Frodo and Sam! So gentle... so noble... gods, I love the Eagles.
-Gandalf riding Shadowfax up the stairs... and Shadowfax fighting
-Gandalf and Pip fighting
-The King telling Gandalf about his son's death, and saying such horrible things to Faramir
-Faramir riding to certain death because it's the only thing he CAN do... and it's certainly easier than admitting to his father he sent the ring away... and he's got to do SOMETHING because he still feels the need to serve his father no matter what
-The torches lighting and Aragorn running in to tell Theoden
-Theoden dying... and Eowyn and Merry fighting
-Pip singing... and trying desperately to save Faramir
-Gimli & Legolas' short talk about being friends and dying together in battle
-EVERYTHING at the end... honestly, probably from about the spider onward, I never stopped crying- partly because it was so sweet and touching (Sam carrying Frodo... GODS, see, that's why Samwise is my FAVORITE character of them all, easily... he's just so loyal and sweet and essentially GOOD no matter what) The "army" finally taking the offensive for the first time and going to distract the eye for just long enough... and the look on their faces as they try desperately to charge, knowing there's absolutely no way to win the fight
-The whole fellowship but Boromir there to see Frodo and Frodo realizing they're all well and alive
-The crowing, everyone bowing to the hobbits, the homecoming, the wedding, the book, the departure

Actually... I think it'd be a hell of a lot easier to list the parts I DIDN'T cry at. And I was SO happy to see it open the way it did. I wasn't expecting that but I was bouncing in my seat as soon as I realized they were fishing and I understood what it was. I'd just listened to the commentary with Lij & Sean talking about that scene. I didn't realize they actually filmed it for the movie!

I certainly would have liked to have seen more of everything from the book... especially more Legolas and Gimli in general... and the implication that that was the last ever ship... and not even a MENTION of anyones' fates afterwards except for the hobbits' and possibly Aragorn and Arwen implied... grrr. Okay, so the first movie started with the shire and it's only fitting to end there. But STILL. *sigh* I would have liked much more. I would have LOVED to have seen the rangers!

Okay... I stop rambling now. I still loved it. I just can't wait for the extended version. I KNOW there's Eowyn/Faramir houses of healing stuff that was cut out.
