Philly Trip
Jun. 20th, 2009 12:42 amSo I made a quick decision on Thursday and my quick day trip to Philadelphia has turned into a weekend trip. Right after I finish with my volunteer hours on Saturday morning, a friend is picking me up at the library and we're driving up there. We plan to visit her favorite tea place so she can restock. And then she's going to the museum while I walk around downtown and snarf the heck out of the Independence Hall area.
Sunday morning we'll check out the sights together then I'll meet up with another handful of DADA members 'cause we've got tickets to the Star Trek Exhibit there. Should be wonderful (I can't wait to see the bridge/engineering up close!) Squee!
Then we will catch a great Wizard Rock Concert: Pottercast hosting The Whomping Willows, The Remus Lupins, and Harry & the Potters! Philly is as close to Virginia as Harry & the Potters is going to get this tour season, and with such good company, how could I resist! I'm hoping to get Joe, Paul, and Alex to sign my Wizard Rockumentary DVD case. I already got Whompy to sign it when he was here along with the Moaning Myrtles, Snidget, and Justin Finch Fletchley. I might even be lucky and get Melissa to sign my copy of her book. *fingers crossed*
Should be a fun-filled weekend! I expect to snarf more than 15 things, which means I'll be pushed into the Top Ten on the Markeroni site! That's been a goal of mine for a while now. I'm really excited about seeing it happen and getting to see more about the town's history.
And then next Saturday I've got a ticket to the (I've just learned) sold out local Can't Stop the Serenity event. They're also showing Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog. Two Nathans for the price of one! I'm contemplating putting together a rough Jayne outfit but I don't want to embarrass myself in the costume contest. And I'd need boots, which I don't have. I wonder if the thrift store would have something... that's a thought.
And next Sunday is a trip up to the Book Thing in Baltimore, MD to meet a Canadian BookCrosser who's in town just passing through. Always great when BookCrossers contact BCinDC and we get to say hello to them!
So, yeah. My weekends are packed. I hope my trip this weekend goes well. After that crazy busy Boston weekend, I can't imagine anything more packed & stressful. So this should be a walk in the park. LOL Got to go finish packing and maybe clear a little room on my DVR so everything will tape properly while I'm gone (Primeval, Army Wives, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria... I think that's it.)
