Sam Girl

So my uncle and his girlfriend came over for dinner tonight (I was not expecting them for dinner, so it was awkward to find I had pretty much nothing to serve them, but I managed). They're in town for a couple days and wanted to see my house. They took note of all my fandomy stuff (mostly Harry Potter stuff) and Teresa asked about my pillows (which are Sam, Dean, Cas, and Baby). As we were leaving, she noticed a bag by my door "Hey it's the guys from the pillows." And then, out of the blue:
Her: The one in the middle... he's my favorite.
Me: Really? That's Sam. Really?
Her: Oh yeah.
Me, pointing at Dean: Most people like this one.
Uncle: Most people? Including guys?
Me, trying not to think of that Sam/Dean fic she read a couple hours ago: Well...
Her, pointing to Sam: Oh, no. I mean, he's good-looking. But this one's the best. It's his cheekbones. Definitely.
Uncle: And this other one looks... unhappy?
Me: Well, he's an uptight angel. He doesn't understand a lot of what's going on.
Uncle, proceeding to fold bag to show only Cas: He'll be my favorite then.

They don't watch a lot of TV, but they were shocked when I mentioned the show was in its 11th season and they'd never heard of it before. After I explained the general idea, their reaction was "Ah, so it's like ghostbusters. Ghostbusters for the younger generation." And now I have the ghostfacers song stuck in my head. Of course.

Also, I had NO good answer when asked which Neil Gaiman book was the best/my favorite. How to choose? I was so flustered after finding out that NEITHER of them had ever heard of Neil Gaiman before I couldn't even think of a good answer. I finally went with Good Omens, even though that's a bit of a cheat as it wasn't entirely his book. It's really hard to recommend a Neil Gaiman book, though. He's written SO many different kinds of books... there's so much pressure to try to figure out a person's likes before recommending the book, because they're all so different, if you recommend the wrong one, it could end badly and put them off Gaiman. That would be a disaster. So, in the end, I went with Good Omens. I hope it was the right call.
