Even more updates FYI...
There are now 14 stories archived for the SF Challenge and more than 4 days to go. Not bad at all! Great job, everyone!

I just finished my massive Remus/Sirius story and sent it in. Finally got it to exactly 50 pages (okay, with the header it runs onto page 51, but I'm not including the header in any of my word counts, so I'm not going to count it in my page count as well) It uses a bunch of the bunnies... and was a lot of fun to write. Lots of R/S goodness that makes me smile :-)
Now I just have to finish my LotR fic... and possibly my other Star Wars fic (though I'm not holding my breath on that one) I also wrote a very, very silly, very short PWP PotC fic for the challenge. Just because I thought I'd try one of the shorter word limit ones.

I saw RotK again in theaters with my father yesterday. Didn't manage to drag sister. But she's been bitchy lately so it probably wouldn't have been as much fun with her anyway. I cried through it a little less... I cried through about 60% rather than 70-80% like the first time I saw it. *sniffles* But I'm still looking forward to all the cut scenes. I need more of a lot of things, though I understand why they cut some things out. Still, while I adored the movie, I do think they extended version will be even more to my liking. But *sigh* on the big screen... that was incredible.

Finished reading Joe Pants' autobiography yesterday morning, too. Got it as a Christmas present (I asked for it specifically) My GODS. I love the guy, I really do, but I had NO idea how much he went through. It's just pretty much up through his starting to become an actor... it's really mind-bogglingly incredible, though. And it's kind of nice to hear his adorable voice in my head as I read it *G* I cried a lot... I laughed a WHOLE lot... and was generally amazed at it all. Makes me feel a lot better to know he was in 10+ years of therapy as well... I'm amazed he's as normal as he is after all he went through! He's my new hero :-) Anyway... Twas a lovely read. I think its official title is 'Who's Sorry Now?' if anyone is still actually reading this gushing paragraph and wants to read the book.

Oh, be still my heart! 50 pages of Sirius and Remus???? I don't know if I can stand that much wonderful stuff at one time! Whoo-hoo! Now I cannot wait! 4 more day, 4 more days...

I went to see Return again today too! Went with my sister-in-law and left the very negative brother home with her kids...took my son along as he would never miss it - he wants to be just like Legolas when he grows up! It is indeed as perfect the second time as the first and I personally start crying around the time the Rohirrim show up for the battle and keep on to the end...OK, now here's a question...which may be a spoiler...but I have to ask this because....

you don't want to know anything! Otherwise this is just a small thing...

When you watched the movie, did they show a part where Aragorn heals Faramir? I could have sworn that they did that in the movie, but then today, when I saw it, there was no such part! And I never left the theater and I certainly didn't doze off! So I was wondering if I was crazy and just imagined the scene in my mind from the book passage when I saw the movie the first time.

My daughter says that she remembers the scene I am talking about from the movie....did you see that scene too? It *is* in the movie, right? Am I crazy? Wait, don't answer that last question...

I'm 99% sure (I was 100% sure till I read your post!) that there was no Houses of Healing scene. I remember being surprised that Faramir and Eowyn were just miraculously cured. And the Houses of Healing bit (especially Aragorn's speech to Merry about athelas!) is one of my favourites in the book *g* I'm hoping, though, that it will be in the extended DVD!

Thanks for responding to my quirky little question about the healing of Faramir....I saw the movie for the first time on December 19th...and I am truly wondering if I did not somehow see the extended version, the one which they were showing at midnight...and which I assumed would only show at midnight...I tried to judge it by time, but although I can remember when the movie starts, I cannot remember what time I got out that first time...I paid more attention to that kind of thing after the second viewing...so that's no help. I guess I will just continue to ask if that scene - the healing of Faramir by Aragorn, is in the movie or not...may have to wait for it to come out to remember for sure! There are no other scenes that jump out at me as being absent though! Weird!

Probably a very silly question - but how do I read the challenge archive? I can view the (incredibly tempting) page of titles and summaries, but clicking on any of the fics takes me to a Yahoo "Sorry the page you requested was not found" page. Do I need to be a member of a Yahoo group to read?

No, you just need to wait until the fics are released to the general public. They aren't due yet for a couple of days. When the link is given to sneezefic, then you can read them.

Off-topic, but I just thought I'd pop in and drop you this link, tg. It's an illustration to a fic in which Elrohir gets a cold because he's half-elven and fell in the river, and Legolas (his lover in this story) worries over him in the sweetest way.

The illustration is the second one down on the page...such a cute sick little elf! *sigh*

Hey Tg, I think that something is wrong with the Star Wars AU fic, the link doesn't seem to be working, on the beastlet site at least.

Thanks for posting that link - I *did* really like the picture, it was so cute, and I actually read a lot of the story, more than just the chapter from the illustration! So, thanks for directing us to the entertainment!
