tarotgal3 challenge fics I've written feedback for... about 20 (I think it's 19, but I may have miscounted) to go. It's nice to have an excuse to read them all again in more detail, though. I'm going alphabetically, which I'm already regretting- LOL! But I'm skipping over fics with fandoms I know nothing about. At least for now. I wanted to get more intelligent feedback done first before I even attempt to read stories and say "What the heck's going on?"
I'm trying to type up the stories I wrote long-hand over break. I bought a new notebook while at home (um, because I left my current one at my place, LOL) and it was a wonderful means of feeling inspired. It seemed to allow me to start a TON of new fics... including the Legolas and the bush one... probably 6 new fics in a span of about 2 weeks. Which isn't bad- usually I come up with that many ideas or more... I just don't get to write them down before they fly out of my head, or write them down very far. With my nice new notebook, I got a significant portion of each down. Which was fantastic. *hugs new notebook*
Anyway, I was typing up the Marauder fic that I thought was mostly done- just wanted to add an end scene to it. And as I'm writing it, I suddenly think that, hmmm, maybe it needs another scene here or there. So I wrote them. And then, earlier today, I realize that it might need another 2 or 3 short-ish scenes at the beginning to really make sense, or make the reader really get the concept. But then, hmmm, I think maybe that would detract from the idea too much because, um, hello, it's a sneezefic. Ug. I can't decide. IF and when I finish it, I'm going to ask for a beta. But I have a horrible track record of asking for a beta when I'm almost finished and them suddenly the fic explodes and I don't finish. So no one volunteer! I'm not asking yet! I'm just giving an update on a fic that's bothering me, is all. But I'm REALLY happy with the idea and want it to be good, so I'm considering it is all. *G* I hope it's good. I KNOW it needs less dialogue and more description. But that can be worked on. It's just this not knowing if it should have another couple sections added to it. Hrmmmmmm...
There's also a SW fic I've been dying to start typing up. It's Obi's POV for a change, and I cannot for the LIFE of me decide on a tense. Half is written in present tense, then I just to past, then I think, okay, the beginning should be in past but the middle can be in present. Then I think the jumping's too stupid and complicated and it should all be in present since I already have most in present. But then I think that's a lame excuse for not changing something when it could potentially work well. Then I wonder when jumping tenses in the middle of a story ever worked well. Then I just go back to the Marauder's story instead. LOL.
It's been a weird night. LOL! Oohhh... and I actually really liked Kouga in tonight's Inuyasha episode (I missed Monday's- doh!) He's rather cute. Okay, so he was cute when he was hurt and curled in Kagome's lap. But, really, he was interesting. And cute. Ah, it's probably the wolf connection. I love wolves.
Anyway, I will stop rambling now. I need to walk more. Only 1,300 steps so far today. That's, like, nothing. Then again, I slept most of the day and wrote the other half. But I need to walk more. Certainly. And when I wake up today I'm DETERMINED to call the Honda dealer and find out if they can help me get into my car without it beeping. I just started beeping last week. Gah. Stupid used car with no instruction manual regarding the remote *sigh* I hate beeping cars. ANd mine is LOUD when it beeps. I refuse to drive it until I can get it to stop. Humph.

Date: 2004-01-14 11:51 pm (UTC)And, personally, I don't think any sort of feedback is hollow. There are all sorts of feedback, and each helps the writer in a different way. Even short statements telling the writer you enjoyed (or didn't enjoy, for that matter) a fic can help inspire, or help reassure. I know I've written things that have gotten just a few short lines of feedback- but that's better- and certainly more helpful- than all the stories I've written that have received no feedback. For those, I don't know what's wrong with them. Maybe they suck. Or maybe people just don't read them. So even just a sentence or two of feedback can help silence those feelings of not knowing :-) The important thing is to be honest and supportive (even when there are problems) and tell the writer what you think and feel about the story :-) You can't not be good if you do that :-)
