Just got home

Just got home. They didn't believe when I told them the EE was long... I went over at 7:30, it's 1:30 and I just got home. We ate before we watched and then stopped it a DOZEN times so we could explain what was happening or what had happened in the previous movie. And hey, you know me, I'm still kind of a newbie in the fandom, and here I was looking like some sort of an expert in comparison! Twas a little funny. I was tempted to start using other names of Gandalf and Aragorn at times, but didn't want to cofuse. Anyway *sigh* I love TTT EE. All the humor. And deapth. I cried at Sam's speech at the end, though I know it nearly by heart. It was just nice watching it with a bunch of friends... and I'm feeling very into stories and making yourself immortal through them... so that's what did it.
I'm past 3,500 steps today. Pathetic, but I'm getting there. Slowly working up to 10,000 :-) Anyway, I've got some work and 4 hours of TV from tonight taped to watch... plus the end of Sliding Doors. I've never seen it before, and I'm just half an hour from the end. GODS I love John Hannah. His accent just... oohhhhhhh! YUMMY! Of course I've loved him ever since Four Weddings and a Funeral where he played adorable gay Matthew- I typically attach actors to their first roles and seeing him just makes my heart break. But he's also terribly adorable once I separate myself from that. LOL Okay... I'm worried something terrible will happen in the last bit, that's why I'm rambling and waiting... Hrmmm... I have some egg drop soup I took home from dinner... maybe I'll heat that up first... :-)
Anyhoo *sigh* Nice movie watching. I can't wait until seeing RotK again tomorrow *packing tissues as we speak*

Date: 2004-01-17 07:43 am (UTC)Sounds like you had a fun night! That's funny about you being a semi-expert now...I need more friends who are, so I can actually play my LOTR Trivial Pursuit game I got for Christmas. No one in my family will play me *G*
Enjoy your ROTK showing tomorrow! I'm off to my 5th viewing tomorrow, myself. I'm bringing a friend who hasn't seen it yet, which is a nice treat since I saw it alone the last 2 times before this...and of course, I'll be bringing tissues too. *sigh* I love this movie.

Date: 2004-01-17 08:19 am (UTC)LOL I was certainly called the expert a lot of times tonight- though I know so little in comparison to people online. I think I'm at the point where I know all the things I don't know exist and that I should learn abou them, and that's why I feel like I'm not very knowledgable. But compared to people who haven't read the books since they were 14 (and are now in their thirties) I'm sure I am more knowledgable. Twas kind of nice to be able to answer so many questions correctly, too :-) I play my HP2 trivia game with family and friends and they don't know enough to make it much fun for me. I'm thinking of writing a series of questions for the game for the other books just so my boyfriend can play it with me... this is sad. I think I'll stop this conversation now. LOL
Anyway, enjoy your fifth viewing! I hope we are all always touched by these movies, no matter how many times we see them :-)
Oh, and with the EE's... well, yes they are very close to perfection. Especially as far as a mordern day movie goes. Though I would be happy to have 10 hour versions of each movie and have nothing cut from the book... Still, I very rarely watch the theatrical versions unless I'm just skipping to a scene or a couple of scenes and it's easier since it's all one one disk. Or unless I just want to watch the original version of one particular scene (like the Lorien visit) :-)
