You are Sally!
Which Peanuts Character are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
This is very interesting. I never liked Sally all that much... but I love Linus (I wanted to get Linus *pout*) And Sally loves him, so that makes sense, yeah? She always seemed a bit, er, young for me. Even when I was a kid. But I like this description of her... I'm not sure people think I'm a ditz... maybe they do in secret and don't tell me :-) But, yeah, I'm very surprised by this result. And after reading Linus' description, I'm not surprised I didn't get picked as him. But I still like him bestest *G*
Watching a bit of the Academy Awards. I can't get worked up about awards shows, sorry. Movies tend to sweep the board every year, and that gets boring. Not that I don't think LotR deserves it, because I do. But, still, it gets to me sometimes, how holywood it all is. I know there are always some upsets and all... but there are SO many great films out there that I think deserve recognition and never get it. So many films out there touch people in such great ways... ug... I don't know where I'm going with it. I just get annoyed when it's one or two great films every year. But as I'm not a member of the academy, I've no right to say anthing. Can you tell I'm still pissed about their attitude towards my Ewan baby? LOL I just don't think getting eleven awards makes me appreciate a movie any more or less. It's great that its gets recognized (esp for best director) because the efforts were fantastic. But it just doesn't mean as much to me as it does to other people. I just feel sorry for other movies is all. Maybe that's why I like the independent film awards more? Though they have sweeps there as well. And, again, don't get me wrong. RotK deserved all it got. I adore the movie. I just don't jump for joy each time they get an award. It's like, of course they'd win. It's a great movie. But I don't need that to tell me it.
But I will admit I adore Billy Crysal :-) And I LOVED how all the hobbits got on stage, and then scrambled to stand by each other in the line up during the speeches. *G* SO cute they are. I adore them much much.

Date: 2004-02-29 10:23 pm (UTC)I don't need the Oscars to tell me that I like the film...what I do need is to see fantasy finally get some respect after all these years, and to see good storytelling and years of hard work be rewarded. It pisses me off to no end when movie after movie and actor after actor wins an Oscar for making some weepy 'Oscar-baity' movie that had it's sole purpose for being to win people Oscars from the very inception. (Yes, I'm talking to you, Mystic River, A Beautiful Mind, Cold Mountain, Monster's Ball, etc...). All these Oscar-bait movies talk about how hard they worked, etc, and I'm not doubting they worked hard, but these people filmed over two-three months at the most...there's no real sense of family, it's just another job to most of these people, and if they can use it to further their careers and add an Oscar to their resume, so much the better. What the LotR people did goes so far above their efforts in terms of sheer love for the project, and drive for perfection in storytelling, groundbreaking visuals, timeless score, etc., and their impact on the people who view these movies, that I almost don't have words to describe. These films are the cinema event of our time, and they deserve to be treated that way. Children will remember these movies like I remember playing with SW action figures. In fact, though it saddens me, I doubt I'll ever love another movie again as much as I love these. It renews my faith in the Academy that they are able to break tradition and honor these movies for the landmark in cinema that they are, and not just dismiss them as 'not meaningful' because they feature furry feet and pointy ears, and don't take involve true events.
Hope I didn't offend, and I apologize for my vehemence...I'm still very much on an emotional rush right now...
