HP thoughts

tarotgalI was writing fanfic just now (Remus/Sirius non-sneezefic brothel story) when it occured to me that 'the incident' might be somewhat to blame as far as Peter going bad. We never really know his involvement in it... or if he even knew about it. But either way, it's an incident of one Marauder betraying another. Even if it was just a joke, Sirius DID use Remus. It's possible that Peter, already worried about the war and feeling the need to be protected, realized then that his three friends maybe weren't as loyal and as protecting as he thought they were. And that helped him have doubts and eventually run to Voldemort's side of things so he wouldn't get killed. Given that 'the prank' wasn't just a light joke but deals with life and death, with saving and murder... I can't imagine a 5th or 6th year would take that lightly. I think it HAD to have put some doubt in his head. And, if Hogwarts was anything like it is in "present" day, there are two strong groups- the brave Gryffindors and the strong Slytherins. If he's going to start thinking about where he'd be safest, and he'd got doubts about the Gryffindors, well, I'd think he'd logically start thinking about the Slytherins. And if they're starting to get mixed up with Voldything in or after Hogwarts, well, it makes sense to me.
But *sigh* Peter IS a Gryffindor at heart. I always wonder about that. I think redemption is out of the question for him as a character in present day. Possibly he had the potential to be brave... what with all he got into with the Marauders. But when it came down to it, he just wasn't strong enough. Unlike Neville, who has this BIG reason to go from potential to good result. Yes yes. I like this theory. heehee Percy- I think the Gryffindor in him will come out in the next book. I have faith in his true nature. But Peter... I think he's a lost cause. Once he does the whole life debt thing with Harry, I'll be more than happy to see him disposed of (by Remus, preferably!)
Boyfriend just called. Wants sex. Damn, really wanted to get to the brothel sex scene first *pout* Ah well, something to look forward to afterwards. Damn plot bunnies... this one just popped in this afternoon. As IF I needed more! LOL

What do you mean when you said that Sirius used Remus? All I can come up with are fuzzy memories about who was the Secret Keeper, but that doesn't sound right... Um, yeah *l*

Date: 2004-03-09 07:29 am (UTC)I mean, I personally don't think Sirius thought that far ahead- to murder, I mean. But it could have been in the back of his mind. He doesn't seem like the type in his youth to think things through entirely. But the possibility of the werewolf coming after an unprotected Snape HAD to have crossed his mind, I think. *shrug*
Anyway, that's what I meant by using Remus.
