More April Fools
Apr. 1st, 2004 02:09 pmAhhhhhh
Harry Potter fans know how to do April Fools! :-)
(Anybody in the mood for some Fred and George? I might try my hand at a drabble to wake myself up)
Okay, so, here's the list thus far (feel free to comment if you've seen others!)
There's probably a lot more out there... and I know of a couple who have taken things down because people thought they were real, etc.
On another note... Viggo's threats to quit... they're just a joke, right? Right? Like Gary? *sniffles* I'm finding it hard to tell any more, but I don't want him to be unhappy. He doesn't have an official site, does he?

Okay, so, here's the list thus far (feel free to comment if you've seen others!)
- TLC- Poor Tom the inkeeper keeps popping in with his two knuts about the use of his inn *G*
- HPANA- It's become CNN for today... filled with lots of very cute news stories (and some sad ones, like Hagrid being killed in a Knight bus accident) like Hermione and Ron getting a little drunk, stealing a time turner, and going back 50 years to transfigure Voldy into a sock puppet. Brilliant! LMAO
- The Sugar Quill- Fred and George's shop online!!! Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes! With a sweet ride, product listings, and even an FAQ. VERY creative. I love it.
- Fiction Alley- Have a story on The Office meets the Apprentice... and their main page has different art pieces every time you reload. My favorite are the Harry Potter Finding Nemo fish and the LOTR one with the 'GAP of Rohan' LMAO THough those probably aren't so much an April Fool's thing as just lots of clever artists... do they have this normally? I so rarely go through the main page.
- Mugglenet- Was originally PNN but now there are just little things like upsidedown banners, etc. for those visiting the site not for the first time in the day
- Werewolf Registry- The Werewolf Registry has been taken over by Wormtail!
- Siriusly-Gary- Gary's quitting the business. This reminds me of his Celebrity Deathmatch episode with Christopher Walken LOL
- Unredeemed- All the Slytherins have converted to Hufflepuffs (Yay! heehee!)
- Mischief Managed- Ohhhh! teh whole site is soooooo frightening!!!!!111
- The Dogstar Academy- Oh, its transformation is just TOO TERRIFYING to describe!! Let's just say: "I'm sorry; Quidditch is cancelled for all eternity." and "Hem hem!"
- The Smutty Project- The Smutty Project has, sadly, reformed today into The Saint Project. LOL
- Chris Rankin Online- Percy, from the movies. His site has been taken over by Smocking Heads Films now
There's probably a lot more out there... and I know of a couple who have taken things down because people thought they were real, etc.
On another note... Viggo's threats to quit... they're just a joke, right? Right? Like Gary? *sniffles* I'm finding it hard to tell any more, but I don't want him to be unhappy. He doesn't have an official site, does he?

Apparently 'The Hobbit' will enter film production, but Peter Jackson is not to direct!

Astronomers have decided to rename the planets of the Solar System after characters from Lord of the Rings.

Things weren't as friendly amongst the Fellowship and the hobbit foursome as we were led to believe...
That's all for now, but I'll keep an eye out for more!

Date: 2004-04-01 05:34 pm (UTC)I dunno... I tend to find the HP ones funnier because they're much more obvious. I have a HARD time with fake news stories. Every year NPR does a fake news story on April Fools Day and I can NEVER figure out which one it is. LOL Gullible. That's me. So total redesigns of the HP sites is MUCH more fun because I can be sure that it's only on this one day out of all the others, the SLytherins want to become Hufflepuffs and the Marauders have turned into illiterate teenyboppers. :-)

Date: 2004-04-01 07:23 pm (UTC)They changed the site a couple of hours ago, sadly. There's mention of it in the first few lines on the main page of the site still, as of about an hour ago.
BUT, I took screenshots and/or saved a bunch of the sites for my own amusement. So I've put the main page up on my site so you can see it.

Most of the links still work right now(so it just looks like they changed the main page and left the rest online)

Date: 2004-04-01 08:16 pm (UTC)The fan art was pretty terrible, too. The one with Draco and his Easter basket had me laughing way too hard.
Poor Hufflepuffs. Always the butt of the jokes. But I still love 'em more than the Slytherins :-)
