Happy Easter!
*spreads eggs and bunnies around as pagan symbols of fertility*
In my Easter Basket today: A book on Celtic art and symbols throughout history, a stuffed bunny that clips onto things, a little spring garden statue scene thing with flowers and a gate, jelly beans, easter Snickers, cadberry eggs, and a beautiful wooden egg Dad picked up in Armenia when he was there for a month (he just got back a week or so ago). So a nice Easter basket, yes yes. My cat likes the ribbons on it and started chewing them at once :-) So he was happy too!
He also bought me some Russian chocolate and a BEAUTIFUL hand-crafted wooden box from Armenia... and some kitty cat socks and a pin from his trip to Boston last week. The button reads "Make the scary republican go away!" I love it. Oohhhhh! Everyone was so jealous of the button *wears it with pride*
Got home safely... nearly fell asleep about an hour into the 5 hour drive. But didn't. I've got a CD of Ewan songs (VG, MR, Trainspotting, Down with Love, Life Less Ordinary I think) and that helped me stay awake.
Had a good easter so far... am online printing tax documents right now... ick. Luckily I don't come close to owing anything. Least I don't in federal. Am printing state right now.
I WILL post this week's hatching thing later tonight. Sorry for the lateness... is hard to do without my own computer. I haven't checked e-mail in days, either. Just FYI to anyone who's posted or sent me stuff.
RANDOM STUFF:
(Just some random things I've meant to post before now to people)
*Rick Moranis- (sp?) Someone told me he walked away from acing after his wife died. But he's the voice of one moose in Disney's Brother Bear, now out on video. So he is still working
*No, Americans don't call their TV's Tivos. Tivo is this digital system you can get for your TV where you tell it what show to record and it's smart enough to know when and where it's on and tapes it digitally. You can pause TV as you're watching it, etc. It's just a neat system for the TV, not the TV itself. ALl the rich people have Tivos. i.e. I've never met anyone who had one.
*I want the Red Wings to win the cup this year. I hate 'em... but I love Robert Lang and ANY excuse to see him smile is fine by me! But playoff hockey in general is just great *sigh* There's NO sport in the world as great as hockey, and no sport with players who are as nice and sweet and fantastic. *sigh* So since my boys are all divided up onto other teams, I'm just having fun watching them all. But I love Langers.

Date: 2004-04-11 08:04 pm (UTC)Your taxes sounds scary/complicated. I do mine online each year, and it takes all of half an hour. You have forms to fill out! State and federal taxes! Whoa. Here the states have no constitutional power to levy taxes, which is great. Not cos we pay less (all that happens is the federal government taxes us for everything then gives the money to the states) but because I'm beginning to appreciate that it makes doing taxes much easier!

Date: 2004-04-15 02:34 pm (UTC)Every year we get a stuffed animal of some sort (beanie baby, usually, nowadays) and a book of some sort. Most of my favorite books I got for Easter. And every year we get a ceramic or wooden egg (usually picked up by my father from some country he visited over the past year) And a little bit of candy, or a little figurine or something like that. My parents believe in well-rounded easter baskets, I suppose :-) There's usually very little candy in comparison.
Money sounds nice, though!! I'd go for that! :-)

Date: 2004-04-12 03:51 pm (UTC)Mmm, didn't get an easter basket, but instead got a rather large chocolate bunny and lovely (and needed) cash (whose location I'm not really sure of at the moment, grr.) But the bunny is now simply a lump of chocolate. I left it next to my frequently overheated laptop, came back, and found it had gone all wicked witch of the west on me. The only non-liquid part of him was from the base of his neck to the base of his ears (I had already eaten the ears :) ). It was rather sad - but now I have a chocolate lump and will not feel guilty when I bite off its head, for his head sank into the melted chocolate.
::giggles:: Tivo.

Date: 2004-04-12 06:20 pm (UTC)Hee. I got a baby duck plush in my basket. It has a big head and teeny little fuzzy wings and I've taken to squeezing his sides so his wings flap at people while chanting "Bay-bee ducky! Bay-bee ducky! Bay-bee ducky!" over and over again. *gigglefits* Am a severe nerd.
Ohh, I want my boys to win SO badly. We're doing so well this year, and I don't want to jinx it by talking about it too much. But yeah, everywhere I go I see cars with flags clipped to their windows or arialness, and every single bus I've seen in the past couple weeks has flashed the rout number/destination, and then 'GO CANUCKS GO!' which is... incredibly fun. Ohhh, I want my Markus to be happy!

Date: 2004-04-15 02:48 pm (UTC)Awwwwwwwww! The baby duck sounds adorable!!! Nerdship is lovely. I'm all for it :-)
As for hockey... *rummages through all the team banners* Go Canucks!!! I love Hedberg. I've a thing for goalies... and I love a bunch of them. But Hedberg's fantastic. And Markus is adorable :-)
I'm thrilled at how many Canadian teams made the playoffs this year. Was really great to see!
Let's see... Canucks... Baumgartner was a Cap and played for Portland if I recall correctly. Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head there now. But, yeah, my boys are all everywhere, so I'll be pretty happy with whoever wins... as long as it's not the Stars. Ick. Boooooo! Evil Stars!

Date: 2004-04-15 05:54 pm (UTC)Hedburg's one of my top boys. Markus, of course, and I feel bad for Rosie, because the puck just won't go in for him lately. And with his skill, it's possible he could be the next Brendan Morrison. Hee. Don't you love hockey? <33
Heh. I've named my duck 'Bam', for some odd reason. And hey, I don't know if this interests you at all, but I finally FINALLY found a copy of the FAKE dvd. You still interested in reading any of my Fakey 'fic? :-D

Date: 2004-04-15 06:08 pm (UTC)Awwwww! I love playoff hockey, especially. There's SO much love and support in the air. It's really a sport unlike any other. And the prize, especially. It's like nothing else in the sports world. The boys are the sweetest, most adorable... and the fans are just the most loving and supportive. Whereever I land finally, I want to live in a hockey town. Maybe I'll move to Boston or something. Because Washington D.C. has NO respect for my boys. We've got all these Redskins stores all over the place, and it's almost impossible to find anything Capitals-related. I would just love living somewhere where there's support for the boys. Eh. Excluding Dallas and Detroit. I love Michigan, but I wouldn't be able to handle all the squid they throw on the ice. So anywhere else. Yep *sigh* I love hockey. I mean, take Hasek for example. Gets paid MILLIONS, gets injured and doesn't play for most of the season, and gives his sallary back. I mean, come on, what professional athlete outside of hockey is that nice?!!! You'd NEVER see that in football or baseball or something. The reason fans are so loyal to their team is because the players are so loyal to their team. You just can't get that kind of love anywhere else. *deep sigh*

Date: 2004-04-12 06:34 pm (UTC)Ah, Rick Moranis. Jeff Goldblum and him were like the man when I was little. I saw Brother Bear a couple weekends ago at a friends house. It's good to see that he didn't die and that he has work again.
While I agree that hockey players are nice and all, I got to say I love my Giant's fist basemen, JT Snow. Growl...Anyway, as far as hockey goes I'm a Sharks fan. And all I have to say about that is Ricci would be better looking if he got a hair cut...

Date: 2004-04-15 02:57 pm (UTC)How was Brother Bear? The moose looked hysterical. And I'm all for environmentally-friendly "love nature and all the animals" messages hitting audiences over the head in movies *G*
Sharks, huh? LOL I love long-haired hockey boys :-) Primeau's been fantastic so far these playoffs. I can't think of any of my boys on that team... which means there probably aren't any. But I wish them luck anyway! :-)

Date: 2004-04-15 05:40 pm (UTC)Yeah, Sharks. I've never been to a game but all my friends have and their crazy about them and there the home team, so why not?! I hate going down-town when its game time though, theres no parking and the fans get kinda rowdy and run all over the street.

Date: 2004-04-15 02:58 pm (UTC)But, yeah, I know the feeling. I hate when it's a holiday and everywhere you want to go is closed except for Chinese takeout :-)
But, hey, new Manga sounds good to me!!! Yay!
