Obligatory Kitty Post 1
Apr. 22nd, 2004 09:17 pmBecause, inevitably, I'll decide to post a second one... with more pics... I take way too many photos of my baby... he's currently sleeping on top of my dirty laundry. I didn't get a chance to do a load today. Walked all the way over to the laundry room with heavy basket and full detergent bottle FOUR TIMES and the machines were taken each and every time. Someone was doing loads at the same time in the machines, which is frowned upon. There are only two washers and two dryers. So to use both of them at the same time is really a no-no. GROWL. I'll just try again tomorrow.
Anyway... yes... obligatory kitty shots... funny that I'm feeling inspired to share tonight, given that he was a terror this morning. Nonstop crying for an hour while I was trying to sleep. AND he attacked my Obi poster twice. Growl! Bad Sith Cat!
In his cat bed on my old, crappy couch I love to death:

In my chair, by my old computer. He sleeps there constantly when I need to get on the comp:

Taken looking up at him on his cat tree:

He used to have an obsession with my printer. He'd race over every time to see what was printing, what was making noise, or maybe just to check my paper levels. I dunno. He's a curious pup. It was cute:

Sleeping on one of the cat structures at my parents' house. That's one of my parents' cats, Benji. Benji's the sweetest thing in the world. Loves everyone and everything. And always has to smell your breath to see what you've been eating. Max plays with him a lot when he visits there:

Playing with Butter Scotch, another of my parents' cats. Wish I had a good picture of Angel(yet another of the cats). She looks like Maxwell only brown where he is grey. And her face is rounder and her ears a little bigger- she looks like an owl to me. Anyway, this is Butter Scotch and Max playing with a catnip mouse in the hallway:

Okay, I promise, that's it. I've got about 80 pictures of him on the computer... so... yeah... promise I won't bore you with more tonight. LOL
Ug... throat is killing me. Damn spring. Makes me NOT want to write allergy fics, you know? Growl. *scratches roof of mouth with tongue* Stupid pollen. I was only out for a total of maybe half an hour today. This is insane. *sigh*

Date: 2004-04-22 08:19 pm (UTC)I've always wanted a cat...LoL, in, like, fourth grade, I formulated a plan of how, when I turned sixteen and could drive myself, I would get a kitty and hide him in my closet with one of those sensory automatic litter boxes that cleans itself...Though I didn't really take into consideration that the cat might not like living in the two by five area of closet space though. And with no actual sunlight.
Eh, maybe it was better for all parties that my mom caved on the animal issue and got me a dog.
But Aw! Cutie! And I love his name. :-) Maxwell. *G*

LOL! Yeah... probably a cat would, um, like more than the closet. Hamster might not mind. But a cat... yeah... LOL Sounds like something I'd try to plan out though :-) I know people who kept little dogs and kitties in tiny dorm rooms. Wasn't usually the best solution for the aminals. My apartment isn't big, but it's got 5 rooms (and biiiig walk in closet, so really 6) and he's happy making it his territory :-)
Aminals definately make things much more interesting around the house. Except for a few years when I was living in the dorm, and a few months of living in my apartment, I've never been without an animal around.
I wasn't planning on getting a cat, but then this poor little stray kitty wanded into my apartment building during a thunderstorm, hid behind the door just feet from my apartment and cried for an hour. A couple friends helped me get him(not that he ran, he was just scared of the rain and thunder) and we put him in my place as it was the only catless apartment of the four. I called and visited the animal shelter and put up flyers everywhere. But nobody claimed him. Twas SO sad. I don't see how ANYONE would get rid of a little kitty as cute as he is. But since he picked me, I certainly couldn't not keep him :-) And it was just days after my grandmother died so I think he sensed a void needed to be filled :-)
I think he was raised by dogs, before I got him, though. He barks and plays fetch and guards my door and follows me everywhere.
Maxwell... named after Maxwell Demon from Velvet Goldmine. I was going through my VG phase when he found me. And I always play the soundtrack in the car on the way to the vet- it calms him right down and he stops meowing. *G*

Date: 2004-04-22 11:38 pm (UTC)Maxwell Demon...gurgle...LOL! That's so funny, that he calms down when VG is on. The cat has excellent taste. Though, I'd think that he'd eventually equate VG w/ vet and not calm down...but then again, it IS a good cd.
Aw, poor things, locked up in dorms - barely enough space in most for the actual students. Not that I wouldn't love to have my dog with me, but there's no way she'd survive in such a small area...no way the dorm code would allow it either, but...
*G* She's a six year old (this month!) bichon frise named Brina (well, Sabrina, if you get technical, but that's rarely used). We bought her from the Amish (hehe) when I was about twelve or thirteen, I think. Gah! She's my little psycho (when she plays by herself, you have to watch out - her toys have the tendency to whip through the air without warning) but overall one of the most mild tempered dogs you could find. The only thing she refuses to do is to play fetch the way I'd like her to. (maybe she should take a leaf from Maxwell's book. ;) She'll run after it, come back, but make me chase her to get the ball again - fun at first, but the dog NEVER gets tired! I'd rather just throw the darn thing and be done with it after a while.)
I still can't believe she's six already. She's just so small and she never seems to NOT want to play or jump on me when I come in (whenever I come in - even if I'm gone for just two minutes to get the mail...psycho...). A puppy at heart. My baby. *G*
So, to sum up, a bichon frise. LoL.
Ah! Animals are the best! Just talking about my dog makes me all happy and the like. Hehe.

Date: 2004-04-23 12:03 am (UTC)He's got a lovely pampered life now. And gets to visit my parents 3 cats and dog for a couple weeks/months out of the year. So he knows how to play with others. He really needs a playmate, though. He is constantly needed attention from me- waking me up when I'm sleeping to get it, etc. He starts crying if he can't find me. I think a playmate would help. But not until I have a job :-)

Well, the vet is only 10 minutes away even in slow traffic. So we've not covered the whole CD yet even. He also shuts up in the car when I play ABBA songs. Maybe it's just because I sing along to them and he finds the sound of my horrible singing voice familiar enough to stop worrying?
Brina sounds adorable! My very best friend growing up had a Bichon frise named Tessie. They can be a handful, but they're so energetic and adorable! So long as they're trained not to be constantly yappy and pee everywhere, they're almost the perfect dog as they can be so loveable and don't shed (I love lap dogs, though I've never really had one of my own) :-)
Wow... the Amish breed Bichons?? That seems a little... random! LOL
As for fetch... sometimes Max gets so excited to get back to me that he drops mousey on his way, and I have to signal for him to go back and get it. He has his excellent days, and his days where he just doesn't care. But, yeah, the not wanting to give the ball back thing is highly typical in little excited dogs. My childhood golden retriever was the same way. Never seemed to understand the "Gimme the ball!" command.
And as for throwing/whipping toys through the air- Max does that with his colored mousies. Not the white and gray ones, but the bright colored ones. Go fig. He'll pick them up in his mouth and throw them up in the air and bat them across the room and chase them back and forth like a maniac. And then run over to me crying when he loses it or tosses it into his water dish. *sigh* But at least the mousies are tiny and don't do as much damage as large plush or squeaky toys would! LOL
My parents' dog (a cairn terrier, like Toto from the Wizard of Oz) never gets tired, either. I really wish there were a way to bottle that... I could definitely use it...
Brina really sounds adorable though!!!!! :-)
