All righty... here are the song line answers!
Yay to everyone who tried to guess *G* And CONGRATS to Ell who got a whole NINE of them! Wow! *is quite impressed*

So here we go... ignore my ramblings. I've uploaded all the songs and provided links in case you're curious to hear any of them! Let me know if you have trouble with them (sometimes the spaces get in peoples' ways)

If you want to make an attempt: the lines are here

And the:
#1- "We never knew we could want more than that out of life. Sure that Brenda and Eddie would always know how to survive"
Scenes From An Italian Restaurant- Billy Joel
*sigh* I love this song. It could go on forever and I'd never get bored with it

#2- "No mortal man can win this day. The bell that rings inside your mind, It's challenging the doors of time. The waiting seems eternity. The day will dawn of sanity"
A Kind of Magic- Queen
I've got 5 different versions of this song... unfortunately the one picked is the fuzziest :-(

#3- "Don’t you hear my call though you’re many years away? Don’t you hear me calling you? Write your letters in the sand for the day I take your hand In the land that our grandchildren knew"
In the Year of '39
This was originally done by Queen, which is my favorite of course. But the random thingy picked the version that George Michael sang at the Freddy Mercury Tribute concert. It's shorter than the original, but I really get into the clapping *G*

#4- "They came in the night while our men were asleep, this band o' Argyles, through snow soft and deep. Like murdering foxes among helpless sheep they slaughtered the house o' MacDonald."
The Massacre of Clencoe- The Corries
One of my top favorite Scottish songs. It's about the, ah, massacre at Glencoe, of all things! Imagine that! Alastiar MacDonald does my favorite version of this, but this one still rocks.
Basically, ah, MacDonalds- nice honorable Scots who supported the Jacobite cause (rebals, wanting Scotland free) took in a band of Cambells when it was very cold and snowy. The Campbells were working for the Duke of Argyle who was against the Jacobite movement and ordered the Cambells to slaughter the MacDonalds in their beds while they slept... so they did. It was one of the worst massacres in their history and definitely the most dishonorable!

#5- "It dispels every vapour, saves pen, ink, and paper, for when you've a mind in the pulpit to rail. 'Twill open your throats, You may preach without notes, When inspired with a bumper of..."
Nottingham Ale- Women of Whimsey
Ha! Was amused to see this one! LOL This group, when there were three of them not two, used to be called The Bawdy Balladeers. They sing at the Maryland Ren Festival every year. If you read the line there, it ends with the song title, that's why it got cut off there

#6- "So many things to tell her. But how to make her see the truth about my past? Impossible... she'd turn away from me"
Can You Feel the Love Tonight- The Lion King
Wow... I'm surprised not more people got this one. I adore this song... and that line especially *G* I always sing his part in it *G*

#7- "Radiant beams from thy holy face with dawn of redeeming grace"
Silent Night- Wilson Phillips
Yeah, this was in my Christmas songs folder. LOL I love Wilson Phillips *G*

#8- "When boyhood’s fire was in my blood I read of ancient freemen. When Greece and Rome who Bravely stood three hundred men and three men... So as I grew from boy to man I bent me to that bidding my spirit of each selfish plan and cruel passion ridding for thus, I hoped one day to aid oh can such hope be vain?"
A Nation Once Again
I've NO idea who the singer is, but it's from my Best of Irish Drinking Songs album. Is a great song *G* And talk about yummy accents... mmmmmm...

#9- "I've informed you to leave 'Cause I can't afford to lose more sleep. I get ill when I get tired So I'll try to rest if you'll stand guard... How am I supposed to remember you if you won't let me forget?"
Leave- Barenaked Ladies
From a Darian Lake concert
Not my favorite song of theirs, but a pretty darn good one. And I love those two lines I quoted above especially :-)

#10- "In a field down by the river, my love and I did stand. And on my leaning shoulder, she laid her snow-white hand. She bid me to take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs. But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears."
Down By The Sally Gardens- Clannad
Everyone knows Clannad as that group who did the song to Last of the Mohicans. They're one of my faaaaavorite Celtic groups *dreamy sigh* And this is just a lovely song in general, no matter who's singing it

#11- "Tell you what I got in mind Cuz we're runnin' out of time. Won't you ever set me free? This waitin' 'round's killin' me"
She Drives Me Crazy- Fine Young Cannibals
Yeah... was HARD finding a line without the song title in it! LOL Talk about one hit wonders :-( I have this song on my comp because Roland Gift (lead singer) was in four Highlander episodes. So it's in my Highlander folder along with songs from Joan Jett, Sheena Easton, and of course Roger Daltry :-)
And the 4 other versions of 'A Kind of Magic' among other things LOL

#12- "And I dream of the moon and building lunar clone colonies. And I build my peace through strength, That's the best weapon you've got. Oh, I am the brainchild, I am the mortar, with a plastic trophy and an eating disorder"
The Great Unknown- Dar Williams
Given that I have at least 100 Dar Williams songs on the comp, it's not surprising one made its way in here *G* I love this one, though. Really one of my favorites

#13- "Well we all have a face that we hide away forever and we take them out and show ourselves when everyone has gone"
The Stranger- Billy Joel
This song is the theme song of my life, I swear. I ADORE it. Ever since I bought the album when I was a kid I was drawn to that line there. Man. Billy is a writing GOD!

#14- "Magic and wonder are waiting for you. It's as close as a dream and as bright as the brightest blue"
Zoobilee Zoo Theme Song
LMAO! Yeah.. see... I'm surprised there weren't more embarrassing ones like this on my list! I ADORED this show as a child. "Whazzat" (the name of the pink muscian kangaroo) was my very first word as a kid. I just said it over and over again for about 10 months as I asked what everything was, I'm told (along with Mommy, Daddy, and Bankie-my blanket) and then one day I just started talking in complete sentences. Yeah. I was a freak. LMAO
But I LOOOOOOOOVED this show! An inventor, a writer, a musician, a thespian, an outdoorsy guy, and an artist. I think it shaped me quite a lot *G*
Plus remembering the episode where Lookout catches a cold and can't go on the camping trip... or the one where Bravo catches a cold and has to be taken care of and he's really stubborn both still make me weak...
Okay, I'll say it again. I'm a freak. LOL

#15- "We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner. But we would! Although not made by the fine folks at Hardes Kraft Mac& cheese can often be an important part of your good breakfast. See what you can do is you save the noodles for later and you just kind of dump the cheese packet into a bowl, put some milk and some sugar and a couple strawberries and you've got breakfast!"
If I Had a Million Dollars- Barenaked Ladies
This was from a concert they did in North Carolina. They're just WAY too funny when they improv... or go off on tangents in the middle of a song *hugs the ladies*
This is a FABULOUS version though. heehee! LOTS of typical BNL randomness. Especially at the beginning and the ending

#16- "It is a mystery how she's made it through the years. Though she's never hurt anyone she feeds upon our feers. She's watched us come and go and she's wise to all who plot. Don't try to find her, she'll slip away"
The Lady of the Loch- Steve McDonald
A song about the wonderful Loch Ness monster! It's SUCH a sweet song... and this is my favorite artist/singer in the whole entire world!!! I love him to death. His sound is just drop dead incredibly gorgeous and all his songs are so deep or about events in Scottish history- which just makes me weak with happiness! But, Yay! Go Nessie!!

#17- "Is it too much to demand I want a full house and a rock and roll band, pens that won't run out of ink, and cool quiet and time to think?"
Passionate Kisses- Mary Chapin Carpenter
Ahhhh I LOVE this song!! :-) Nothing else to say about it... I just love it *shrugs* Especially that line there about the pens, heehee!

#18- "Back, he spurred like a madman, shouting a curse to the sky, With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high. Blood-red were the spurs in the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat; When they shot him down on the highway. Down like a dog on the highway, And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat."
The Highway Man- Loreena McKennitt
A slightly abridged but incredible version of Alfred Noyes's poem. I really get into the "Down like a dog" line there. I sing it very angrily. LOL But, yeah, wonderful version... I love narrative poems... I've always wanted to write one.

#19- "Gone for soldiers every one. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?"
Where Have All the Flowers Gone- Joan Baez
I'm tres dissappointed that so many people missed this *sob* It was like a nursery rhyme to me, honestly. And it's SUCH a touching song... especially with so many young people overseas dying in the name of war as we speak... And I love Joan Baez... I've got *double checks* 4 versions of this song on my comp, but this one's probably my favorite

#20- "Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go. So make the best of this test, and don't ask why. It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time."
Good Riddance(Time of Your Life)- Green Day
This was my class graduation song in high school! Whoohooo! This is from my "GEO" folder, which stands for Green Day, Everclear, and Offspring LOL

:-) Okay, that's it! Thanks for playing!
