ER tonight *SOB*
Seems I can't get through a day without crying over some fictional character or another on tv or the movies. But then again, it's ER, that's typical.
On a lighter note, Boyfriend asked if I wanted to see Van Helsing this weekend. Wheeeeeeeeee! Sexy leather-clad hunter... yum yum yum! Werewolves, Frankenstein’s monster, and vampires, oh my! Hugh is just too yummy for words, though. And I'm sure I'll more than enjoy the movie... even if they have to kill the wolfman... and Dracula... ohhhhhh got to love the sexy vampires...

Date: 2004-05-06 10:30 pm (UTC)'Master and Commander' (Billy Boyd)
'Hidalgo' (Viggo Mortensen)
'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' (Elijah Wood)
'The Calcium Kid' (Orlando Bloom)
'Troy' (Orlando Bloom)
Add to this my list of a couple Ewan movies, and you'll see that almost every movie I see lately is related to one fandom or another. :)

Date: 2004-05-06 11:01 pm (UTC)And Sean Bean!!!!! Don't forget Sean!!! Which rocks because he's Odysseus and thus isn't going to die *whew!*
heehee. Yeah. See, I totally understand. I watch (and buy) some of the WORST movies imaginable just because my boys are in them. But when they're actually good movies, all the better! heehee
I have a list of DVDs I own and categories explaining why I bought them, etc. One of the categories is 'good price for what it contained(movies, extras, etc.)' another category is 'favorite movie' and another is 'only for the actor' *G*
So, yes, I agree with you on every one of those points above(except for Master & Commander... eventually I'm sure I'll see it, and I do also really want to see my lovely and wonderful Paul Bettany in it as well... I cannot STAND Russell Crowe)
As for Van Helsing... even though I really am interested in the movie itself... I really am looking forward to sexy hunter!Hugh and inventor/arsenal assistant!David *G*

Date: 2004-05-07 01:40 am (UTC)They sure have been hyping the crap out of it though. Especially in LA. When I was there, almost a month and a half ago, they already had huge billboards up (LA seemed to only be promoting three movies at the time: Van Helsing, 13 Going on 30 and the Alamo) and Universal was taking down the Mummy Returns maze thing to set up a Van Helsing prop exhibit. So, yeah. Of course, I've had a thing for the "literary" Van Helsing for a few years now when my high school put on the Dracula play and this boy I had a crush on played him...
Oh, yeah, Paul Bettany is the man (or one of them at least).

Date: 2004-05-07 01:51 am (UTC)Yeah, I watch TNT for about 13 hours a day and they have Van Helsing commercials at least once a commercial break. Sometimes it's this mixed commercial where they cut between the movie and the basketball playoffs but the commercials are constant. And annoying. I really have to tune them out because they're making me start to not want to see the darn movie! LOL
But ohhhhh! Makes me want to go visit relatives in CA just to go to Universal and see that! *G* Neat neat neat!
I love the vampire and Dracula legends... when I started getting obsessed with the Hollywood vampires ('round the time Interview with the Vampire came out) I read all I could about 'em. And while I must say that the vampires were terribly sexy and fascinating... there was just something about a hunter with such a sense of duty and strength to go against something so feared... oohhh *shivers* I loved.
And just as a note, I'm watching Timeline right now on the other side of the screen *G*
Poor kids aren't really having a good time right now...

Date: 2004-05-07 02:30 am (UTC)Oh, Timeline! Still have to rent that...But I just finished watching Die Another Day with Pierce Brosnan and Michael Madsen a little while ago. *sigh* I also loves me my spy guys. Pierce is actually on a re-run of Leno I'm watching right now. He has a mustache right now that I'm not too thrilled about but everything else is still there.
Anyway, enough rambling. Enjoy your movie!

Date: 2004-05-07 11:42 pm (UTC)But, yeah. Frankenstein is the scientist. The monster is just his monster. Pretty simple, really.
Pisses me off when people call the monster itself Frankenstein. I assume it's easier in monster movies, because lots don't know any better and feel like they need to name it something (and I'm rather worried they'll do the same in Van Helsing, given the trailers and promos I've seen) but that's a BIG pet peeve of mine.
I mean, the poor monster had a hard enough time being made a sub-standard freak of nature and then seeing his father curse him and run from him and want to kill him... to have to be called by his father's name the whole time as well is just another level of torture he doesn't need.
