How far have you been willing to travel to attend a fannish event?
I'd be willing to travel pretty much any distance. I love travelling. The problem would be paying for travel, not really my willingness. So unless it's really local, I'm afraid I can't attend *pouts*
How far have you gone in trying to save a show or to get a sequel?
I wrote a couple letters to Hallmark about the 10th Kingdom sequel since it's freakin' written!!! I sooooo want more of that. 10 hours just wasn't enough.
Otherwise I think I've been horribly depressed at cancellation but haven't actually taken any action. I think I wrote a station once complaining when they moved a show's time slot because it always got pre-empted because of stupid Washington DC sports teams that lose anyway. But I think I've taken all actual cancellations with grace and understanding... though I've been terribly depressed.
So.. yeah... I'm just not that active.
How far have you been willing to overspend on one particular fannish item?
I suppose that would be the Highlander season sets on VHS. They normally cost about $70 but I paid $170 each for the two seasons I bought. But that extra hundred consisted of dozens of "free" gifts. Coffee mugs, bathrobes, hats, shirts, posters, production stills, wallets, CD-roms, necklaces, keychains, you name it! So really it was worth it to me. So I don't know if that counts as 'overspending' at all- it doesn't in my book. But I suppose it might to some people. I just don't have the money to 'overspend'.
How far have you been willing to go tracking down a rare fannish item?
Um... I don't think I have. Ever.
I went on e-bay to buy a signed photo of a hockey player for my sister for Christmas. That was hard to find/track down. Took about... I dunno... 2 days and a couple hours worth of searching effort, though. Hardly a huge hunt. He's just sort of an obscure player.
And I bought Young Indy cards off e-bay... but they were $5 and hardly required effort. So, yeah, I don't have the money to get 'rare' items. So I haven't ever tried. If I DID have the money, I would go to just about any lengths needed if it was something I could feesibly get and something I wanted. And, just for clarification, I don't actually want Adrian Paul's ponytail, and I doubt the person who bought it would part with it, but that's what I mean by rare.
How far have you gone to try and pimp someone into a fandom?
LOL! Pretty far! I've forced them to sit down and watch multiple episodes of a television show with me, running to get them drinks, etc. so they wouldn't miss a moment.
I pretty much forced about 9 friends to see Highlander:Endgame with me. Several drove in from 2 hours away. LOL
I MADE boyfriend listen to HP3 on audio in the car with me until he was hooked (didn't take long) and go with me to see the movies. He's in love with the fandom, now. He's almost as excited about the third movie as I am (it will be the first and only one thus far he's read the book to, so he's interested in seeing the differences)
Heck, I've introduced over 20 now former virgins to the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
But, yeah, I've forced a LOT of people into fandoms... and I'm proud of it. A number of my friends seemed to take to them very well in the end and thank me much for it.
But I like to fanpush not just for the fandom's sake but theirs... I WANT my friends to enjoy how fantastic certain fandoms are. I WANT then to enjoy what those fandoms have to offer. So I start out subtley, and then if they don't laugh in my face, I push hard and never take 'no' for an answer :-)
Some fandoms just deserve more love. And I'm willing to make that happen *G*
Side note- my e-mail to a yahoo group doesn't seem to have sent... I'm getting impatient... I don't want to type it all out again because my wording the first time was lovely... GAH I hate this! *pouts*

Turns out the list was semi-moderated so that's why it wasn't showing up. I just missed the message, like an idiot. But all is well now :-)
