Still feeling kind of sick. The coughing's still bad, not a good sign. I feel LOADS better, though.
Saw my first grade teacher at the grocery store tonight! It was the first time I'd been out since being sick and I looked like shit... but she's SUCH a sweetie. I loved her. She's one of my VERY favorite teachers of all time. Loved bears, she did. Anyway, she recognized me and my mother on the spot, lots of hugs and talking. Her son's in college now. GODS I feel old! She was pregnant with him at the end of my first grade year. Or... wait... maybe that was her daughter. Gah, I don't remember. Anyway, it makes me feel OLD! But she was so sweet. I was actually thinking I should go see some of my old teachers but didn't think they'd remember me (the ones that are still there, at least) so this was great. Even if I looked like shit. LOL
Worked my way through Queer as Folk episode 403 today. Emmett's been getting on my nerves a little. And I keep worrying that Michael's being too hard on Hunter. And I'm not getting enough of Mel & Linds... but otherwise, I'm LOVING it! Scared, adoring, shocked... but loving it. GODS it's a great show.
It's funny though (SLIGHT spoiler, but not really) A couple of days back my parents and I were talking over lunch about conservative talk radio guys. Mom heard one of them the other day calling gay people 'homos' and she was appalled. "Isn't that absolutely horrible?" my mother said. "I mean, it's just like calling a black people niggers." Which, of course, you can't do. So then we started talking about other racial groups and slurs used for them and how you'd get arrested or beat up easily for using half of them... but it's apparently fine to go on the public airwaves and say 'homo' all you like. Grrrr! Well, surprise surprise, they made that exact same argument in episode 402 when I watched it yesterday night! I had to pause the video and laugh at that. They sounded JUST like my family and I did days before. *sigh* I love this show. And I love my liberal parents who apparently have great timing :-) Mom laughed at the similarities when I told her about it today. And then I told her how the series is starting to go the route of the end of the UK series. (Where Stuart gets pissed and starts taking things into his own hands) Anyhoo... yeah... I like the series thus far. Going to have to wait at least 4 or 5 days to get episode 4, though. Ah well.
Watched Anne of Green Gables today. Started a Gilbert sneezefic *G* Am going to watch Anne of Avonlea when it's on PBS on Sunday to get in the mood (because I don't have it taped, for some strange reason- I think probably because it's always on) ANyway... the fic isn't going particularly well (which is why it's Saturday and I'm only a couple paragraphs into it) but I hope to have it done by/on Sunday. I had a hard time figuring out when to set it... and I don't like my choice but the fic sounds pretty so I feel stupid starting over from scratch. Which means I may have to write more than one. LOL
Let's see... nope, that's about it. Been watching Angel every day. It's rather nice now that I've seen every Charmed episode there is multiple times, and the same with Judging Amy. This gives me something on TNT to watch every day :-) And lots of courtTV is on in this house. I'm rather scared at the number of people who kill their spouces and then try to plead not guilty...
Oh, Reagan. Not my favorite president at all. I didn't go the 20 minutes north into DC to see him lying in state. Unlike some of the people who did and acted like tourists- wearing t-shirts and shorts to see a dead president? WTF? Where are some peoples' senses of respect? PISSED me off!!! It's not like I really liked him, but, seriously, that's SO disrespectful. I just didn't care to go, myself. He hurt a lot of programs and a lot of people. But I did watch a bit of the final funeral tonight, and I did cry when Nancy wouldn't leave his coffin. Poor thing. I totally felt for her then. Otherwise, I wasn't feeling much, I must admit. I just... I don't know. I hate optimists. LOL So optomistic republicans... and then some of the things he did/said.... yeah... I'm glad he's not suffering any more, though. A slow deterioration is the worst way I can imagine to go. Losing your mind and body and KNOWING it's happening... must have been so hard on him and especially on the family. So I'm glad that's over. And it was a very pretty funeral. I feel very sorry for his family's loss. I just... I didn't really like him as a president.
Okay... yeah, enough rambling. That's enough :-)

Date: 2004-06-13 04:01 pm (UTC)ARG! Reaganomics. They still haven't been able to figure out if it actually ever even *could* work. LOL This last week would have made a BRILLIANT drinking game... if I drank. Take a shot every time newscasters mention Reaganomics... or "evil empire"... or California... or jelly beans... or hostages and good timing... or assasinations... or hostilities in the middle east... yeah, you get my point, I'll shut up now. LOL
Yeah, I had episode #3 download first... then 1... and it took forever to get #2. But I'm only on about 2 hours a night. So I've seen episodes 1-3 but 4-7 are taking a LONG while to download *sigh* Ah well. I'm used to it. I downloaded nearly all of Stargate when I started watching that series. And every season of QAF so far which is how I started watching it to begin with. So I'm used to the wait for downloads. DON'T watch them out of order, though!!! Resist the temptation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much happens in every episode that it's just not worth it! :-) *pets the series*
Have a splendid vacation!!!
