Okay... random movie/DVD talk... and some sneezing mentioned at the end of this entry for those who want to skip all my boring ramblings. LOL

I watched Seabiscuit tonight on HBO. I really liked. Toby's definitely grown on me lately. I've always really respected and liked him... but his cuteness and appeal are getting to me the more I watch him in various things. It's nice. And that movie... damn... it was great. I love horses. I miss riding. Not as much as my mother who had several horses when she was my age but is now horribly allergic and can't be near 'em. I cannot IMAGINE how horrible it must be to not be able to do what you love doing more than anything else in the world. Sometimes I worry about going blind or losing my arms or something and not being able to write. Course this is probably just me watching too much season 2 of QAF, right? Anyhoo... Seabiscuit... I enjoyed it very much. Loved the history bits... love the character backgrounds and them all coming together and working off each other... beautiful storytelling. I'm always impressed when real life events/stories are put together in such interesting, beautiful ways. Nicely done :-)

I watched The Diary of Elen Rimbauer twice today (second time with writer commentary) and now I feel MUCH more complete. And I'm totally convinced Ellen and Zuchina were lesbian lovers by the end of the movie. Totally. That was one of the things I always wondered about when watching Rose Red and the writer mentioned it at the end of Diary... so I feel less stupid for having wondered so long :-) But there are a number of other things that it clarified for me... so I'm glad I rented it finally :-)

On a completely random note (and one I'm terribly ashamed to note following a mention of Seabiscuit) but my sister and I sat down and watched two DVDs we got from Rice Chex cerial boxes today. We'd watched one about a month ago (Madeline and Strawberry Shortcake) and I nearly died laughing so hard at the Strawberry Shortcake shorts- the "new" versions, mind, not the old series. Worst writing I have EVER seen. "I'm going to make a wish! Now we're having a birthday party! Hello person I've never met before, give me something for my sister's birthday party! Best friends forever! Yay!"
Anyhoo, the disks we watched today were Heathcliff, Super Mario Brothers, and Inspector Gadget. My sister and Mom thought Heathcliff was evil, we laughed at the cureness of Mario... and Inspector Gadget was one of my first real tv show loves when I was a kid. And, wouldn't you know it? It was the episode where Brain catches a cold at the end and Inspector Gadget also sneezes. I recall there being another episode where he sneezes at the end... falling through the ice, maybe? But point is, of all the episodes they could have put on there, THAT was the one. I just about died. It's one of those fond childhood sneeze memories... and now I own it on DVD thanks to chance/luck/coincidence. Love it. *EG* Anyway... just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is as partial to Rice Chex as my family is and wants horrible CD's of 80's cartoon shows!
I don't recommend Gadget Boy or Strawberry Shortcake, however.

Omg. I remember those inspector gadget cartoons! One of my memories too was indeed the one where brain and gadget sneeze at the end! And there was also one where his goofy assistant guy gets sick in the beginning, and so penny has to come along, or something like that. I also vaguely remember one where they fall through the ice! haha, I haven't thought about those for years!

Seabiscuit is my driving movie. I drove back and forth to and from the movie theater several times trying to see it with various people the summer it came out. They were showing the PBS documentary on Seabiscuit tonight for pledge time so I was thinking about watching the movie. And it has William H. Macy in it--my favorite actor! I have the special box set DVD thing so I must put watch special features on my "to do" list. I was sad though when it didn't win any of the six or so Academy Awards it was nominated for, not that I didn't like LotR- it's just it had three years to win and could have shared the wealth.

Don't even get me started on Inspector Gadget. That was seriously my favorite show when I was little (well that and David the Gnome). I have an MP3 of the theme song in French that I listen to occasionally...I have no friggin' idea why. When ever I watched that show I was never allowed to turn the sound up loud because my grandmother couldn't stand Don Adam's voice. So now I sometimes turn up the volume when I flip on Get Smart just to see what she says. I remember when the Matthew Broderick
movie came out how some fans were sad that they showed Claw and it turned out to be Rupert Everett...

And they totally ruined Strawberry Shortcake! Just like My Little Pony. They try to re-introduce them with a new look but they just ruin them in the process.

*sigh* Sorry, I rambled...
