I just watched 'The Road to El Dorado' (the Disney movie). I dunno why. It was on and I was tired of the Olympics. Debatably painful animation. BAD songs (What the hell were Elton John and Tim Rice thinking?!). But I laughed a hundred times at the dialogue and I honestly don't think there's a slashier movie out there!
Dear GODS but those boys were fucking off camera for sure! LMAO! I mean... honestly, there's NO way to avoid thinking that. They do everything but actually kiss and make love. Even witht he chica there for half the movie, the dialogue still hints at it all the time. It was hilariously yummy. I've got to tape this next time it's on again.
Not to mention the fact that the boys get drenched several times during the movie, especially the beginning (before chica gets in the picture). Sneezefic ideas just kept popping into my mind the whole time WAY too easily. There they are huddling together under the leaf of some big tree during a thunderstorm- seriously, I couldn't help getting naughty thoughts. And then they STRIPPED DOWN TO THEIR UNDERWEAR and ran around nearly naked together. Um. Yeah. Can we say slash?
They make it far too easy.
And all I wanted to do was watch an innocent little Disney movie. LOL. Okay, so I love Kenneth Branagh's voice as well *drool* But, seriously, I defy anyone not to think they're "partners". Hell, they practically exchange "I love you's" right before they're about to die together. They're totally a thing. It's not just me. It's not. It's bloody obvious. And amusing. And adorable. I loved the humor, though. I really did. The two lads had the best dialogue. Very adorable and amusing. And did I meantion running around together in their underwear? LOL

Date: 2004-08-21 08:47 pm (UTC)Oh gods, is it a bad thing that I'm reciting off lines of dialogue now?
"Tulio, did you ever imagine it would end like this?"
"The horse is a surprise..."
"Any... regrets?"
"Besides dying? Yeah. I never... had enough... gold."
"My regret, besides dying, is... our greatest is over before it began, and no one will even remember us."
"Well, if it's any consolation, Miguel, you... made my life... an adventure."
"And if it's any consolation, Tulio, you made my life... rich."
*cough* I'm so beyond done. XD *shifty eyes* I'm not... going to put the DVD in... not at all...

After reading a bit online, apparently Disney people made them add a few extra lines so one of the characters sounded "less gay". But, yeah, even with a woman in the picture, they totally come off as gay lovers. Totally. There's no way around it. Jealous lover, life-long partners, and did I mention running around together and sitting together in a pool almost naked? LOL
Just don't watch it for the history or cultural references. (It IS Disney after all) And... yeah... did I mention they get wet a lot in the first half an hour? LOL
I'd totally recommend watching it. Totally. Just... yeah, don't take it seriously. Which is easy, as it doesn't really take itself seriously, either. :-) Cute animated slashy boys...

Date: 2004-08-21 10:03 pm (UTC)The part where the Kevin Kline character doesn't like to give the chick a back rub. It's just too obvious. And Kenneth Branagh is growl...And I was watching the Gingerbread Man earlier today...(My brother now wants to watch Wild Wild West again).
Oh, and just a technicality: it's not a Disney movie...it's Dreamworks, which is a Spielberg owned company. Dreamworks SKG: Spielberg, Katzenberg and Geffen. So perhaps they can get away with a little more.

Date: 2004-08-23 06:27 pm (UTC)And, gah, stupid me *hits head against wall* I suppose I just jumped to Disney because it was on ABC during the Saturday Disney movie spot. But you're totally right. The credit goes to Dreamworks. I appreciate you correcting me on that. Though children's and animated movies in general have begun getting a little more creative with jokes and underlying themes as the "in" thing is to put in things for the parents to "get" and enjoy, assuming they won't enjoy it normally.

Date: 2004-08-23 06:36 pm (UTC)And the very first time I watched it, BEFORE I was a hardcore slasher, I went "Dude, those boy-os be sleepin' together!" LOL So there you go
*wipes sweat from brow* I'm glad it wasn't just me. I mean, I know I see slash practically everywhere, but I really thought this was dead obvious and I'm glad others notice it, too. They're just too cute... it's definitely the banter. DEFINITELY. But there's a closeness... the way they look at each other, the way they know what the other is thinking, the way they know each other so well that they can communicate silently *sigh* Yeah.
And... Tulio nuzzling Miguel's... bottom half... when he's boosting him up to give Altivo the apple...
LMAO! I must see this movie again!!!
And I've actually always been kinda fond of the music. It's cute, in a dorky animated movie sort of way.
Sorry for dissing it. I just... I honestly didn't like it that much. The music was lovely. But some of the lyrics seemed far too forced to me and cheesy. I liked the 'Trail we Blaze' song, though. It was stuck in my head for a while. I guess I felt like the music didn't really move things along for me. That it was just sort of "we need another song here. Come up with something fast." And considering Miguel was a musician, I suppose I expected more from him especially. But the music really didn't move me the way it does in most animated movies.
Oh gods, is it a bad thing that I'm reciting off lines of dialogue now?
Not bad! Adorable! *hugs* I loved that part! I mean, up until then I was trying to tell myself I was just reading too much into their relationship. But at that point I was squeeing. How sweet are they?! *cuddles* Totally wonderful scene. You can quote it to me any time :-)
