Wolf's Rain
Oct. 10th, 2004 01:05 amI watched Wolf's Rain tonight (second-to-last episode). Cried like a BABY. I'm DAMN glad no one told me what happened. Thank you for no spoilers, everyone!
I'm still worried about the last episode next week... I sort of know what happens but not precisely. But tonight's episode... oh my GODS. Everything... Tsume's moments... and Hubb's... given that they're my two favorite characters, tonight's episode hit me HARD. I was SOBBING and calling out Tsume's name like a dozen times, and all curled up on the couch with box of tissues. DAMN what an episode! *cries*
Anyway... yeah, please, no spoilers for the last episode. But... man... oh my GODS... and I thought the end of Weiss Kreuz Gluhen was hard to handle! lol My poor characters *huggles*
Now I'm feeling really sick. Shite.

Date: 2004-10-09 10:50 pm (UTC)That may explain why, when I started watching the series last week, I just sort of sat there with a glazed look in my eyes. No idea what as going on. Apparently I get to see the end of the series, though, without waiting around x_x; Fluffy pups!
Oooh, guess who still needs to watch Bloodlust? Unless you have already. In which case I demand your opinion ^^;

I've watched the first 28 episodes several times now and my eyes still glaze over at parts. It's one of those animes. LOL But, yeah, next week is the last episode. I've been waiting at least a year or more for it. Am on the edge of my seat.
It's DEFINITELY worth watching from the beginning, though. The animation is great and the wolves are fantastic. Even when they're in their human forms they act very wolfish. It's great to watch. The quest is very interesting to me. And the characters are just fantastic. They all grow and change a lot throughout the series, even though it's only 30 episodes.

Ack! I know, I know! Tomorrow. As soon as I finish breakfast. I'm going to draw out a block of time right now for it. *gets out planner* Yes! It is so written. I shall get back to you about it within hours! heehee
I think it's just that I'm looking forward to it so much that I'm saving it for last, so I can really dedicate time to it and enjoy it properly. There's been so much rushing and doing other things while I watch movies lately and I don't want to do that in this case. But I'm totally watching it today. *props DVD up against monitor* :-)

Date: 2004-10-09 10:53 pm (UTC)What exactly is this show about, anyway? I've never been able to piece it together from the little fragments here and there that I see from time to time...

Date: 2004-10-10 01:42 am (UTC)The show... all right. Basically, the idea is: This is a very far into the future reality where humans think wolves are extinct and nobles in the land fight eachother and cities have to fight for enough resources.
Wolves, however, are not extinct. Instead, they learned how to hide themselves by showing a human-looking illusion to people. Of course, the wolves we follow throughout the series are pretty much all guys and have VERY sexy human forms (I particularly like the one in the ripped-up leathers *EG*).
The whole premise of the show is based on a legend that says at the end of the world, the wolves will open up a gate to paradise that only they will be able to enter. There's a book called the 'Book of the Moon' which talks about wolves being a special animal to the world and being able to open up paradise and "start again". In order to find paradise, they need a lunar flower maiden who is able to sense it, just as they are drawn to her & her scent. So the basic idea of the series is a few wolves who find the flower maiden and are searching for paradise. It's their reason for being, though each has some rather angsty moments in his past that makes each doubt he should be searching at all.
And amidst this are nobles who want to find paradise for themselves (Grrr!), an old man who knows wolves are real and hates them because wolves killed his family, a scientist woman who was working on the lunar flower maiden, and a cop with an allergy to dogs- errrr, I mean a cop who was married to the scientist and who doesn't believe in all this wolf stuff.
It's a quest sort of show. With lovely, round characters. Lots of angst. GORGEOUS animation. And lots of great themes and confusing moments that I still haven't quite been able to put together- I'm hoping the last episode will help.
I recommend watching it in the original Japanese (the DVDs are coming out now) but the dub isn't too bad (it just leaves out a kick ass opening sequence and a few important moments). It's my favorite anime series hands down. Without a question. Of all the ones I've ever seen, it's definitely the best *G* And, honestly, even with a character death or two tonight, that doesn't spoil very much for the series. I would definitely recommend it! Cute wolves *snuggles*

Date: 2004-10-09 11:12 pm (UTC)I particulary enjoyed this most recent chapter. Poor Obi's really longing to feel more like himself again, and I just wanted to hug and cuddle him...luckily Qui is there to do it in my place! And IMHO, there aren't enough fics out there that feature sponge-bathing of sexy fevered Padawans! *G*

Date: 2004-10-10 01:27 am (UTC)Rest assured that just because I'm not leaving feedback on the list after every chapter doesn't mean that I'm not loving every minute of it.
I don't know if I said in the beginning, but I did mean to say that I didn't require feedback on every section. Reading and replying to so much feedback every day would make it impossible to actually do any writing! So no worries. Every week or two is MORE than enough. Thank you for following it :-)
I applaud you for undertaking the challenge of posting every day for a month! I really like how you seem to choose a different theme for each day as well...I can't wait to see what else you come up with!
When I was first brainstorming, I thought of this as the fic where I had time to throw all my favorite sneezefic cliches into one story... but after I worked on it for a while I realized most parts were actually not as typical as I thought they would be. There are definitely some overdone aspects... but the different themes/ideas per day are, for the most part, things I've not done a lot of before. Which is making it even more fun. So it's great to know you don't mind all the jumps from day to day.

Part 9, in my outline, is listed as "Normal sponge bath" not to be confused with the other sponge bath section I have planned. LOL With that and two shower scenes, this is going to be one clean padawan... *EG*
But thank you for liking this last part. I had trouble writing parts of it (went slower than I'd anticipated) And I'm glad the cuddle-factor was working for you- I wasn't sure the tone was quite right for it. So, really, thank you for your feedback on it!
