Surprise! Okay, yeah, you know I don't know much about the fandom... and you know I love Jack. I kept getting images of this fic pop into my head for weeks and a few days ago I finally just broke down and wrote it. I hope it doesn't step on canon anywhere too horribly. And I hope you enjoy it! Thanks again for helping me out recently with betaing and with the challenge :-)

Oh, my gosh! You can't even imagine how surprised, happy, and excited when I saw this! I think I almost cried. My brother was in the room when I saw this I had no idea what was going on so I printed it out and hid in my room to read it. And then re-read it...I just couldn't believe it.

You did such a good job! I know you don't know very much about this fandom but you have nothing to worry about. You have such a talent for capturing characters personalities and actions that is just...amazing. I really loved how hard Jack tried to get everything right and special and the gifts that Jack gave Sydney. Awww! *hugs Jack* I'm such a sucker for pre-series and father/daughter stuff.

No one has ever given me such a wonderful surprise or written or even really made anything like this.I wasn't suspecting this at all and now...Oh, I'm so happy and thankful. Well... it WAS a surprise, so I think that's all right! I'm completely flattered that you were so surprised and excited, though. Like I said before, I wish I knew something about 'Las Vegas' and could write you a fic in that fandom. But I do know a bit about Alias so I thought that was a much safer bet. Anyway, yes, I'm glad it was a welcomed surprise and that you were able to sneak away and read it!

That, as you could probably tell, was the main pull for me in writing this as well. It was that which compelled me to write it. Couldn't resist. I'm very happy that you liked the characterizations and little details like the gifts :-)
