Question...
Jan. 28th, 2005 01:34 pmReally random question... but does anyone read/know anything about gay comics/art books? I think I got hooked on an online gay comic last night and am thinking of buying the book of it and there were so many similar works recommended in lists and such on Amazon.com so it got me curious. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with them and would recommend/not recommend any. (American, anime, whatever... it's not like I have money to go buy stuff so online versions would be even better)

Date: 2005-02-03 10:35 am (UTC)Online gay comics, I have a couple of. One has shut down, but you can go back and read it from the beginning. It ends nicely too, so when you DO get to the end you don't feel all gipped out. It starts here. It may take you awhile to get into the storyline, like it did for me, but believe me -- it's a lot different than the first few introduction strips makes you think. And the art gets significantly better as you go on.
There's a link on the front page of Boy Meets Boy to the spinoff comic, Friendly Hostility, which is also very good from what I've read of it. I wouldn't reccomend reading it, though, until you at least meet Fox and Collin. If you can't find the link on the front page, it's http://www.friendlyhostility.com
Another one I read isn't exactly gay, though there is homosexuality in it. It's called Venus Envy, and it's about a boy who wants to be a girl. It's funny, but it's also really touching and makes you think. It's drawn and written by an actual MTF, so she's terribly accurate with details on the process, and the way someone in the situation would be treated. It's fantastic, one of my favorites. It starts here and, again, don't be thrown off from the first few pages. I HIGHLY reccomend this one.
So yeah, those are my suggestions. ^-^ Hope you enjoy something!
