I've completely been hijacked by original characters. Today I was working a little more on the sequel to the sequel to 'Escape' (and the sequel to the sequel to the sequel to 'Escape' which actually would work better as a prequel to 'Escape' if not for a time problem).

ANYWAY, the point is, I made a list of characters & character descriptions so I could stay consistent with hair & eye colors (and with their nicknames and real names) and before I knew it, I had 8 pages of characters, background stories, story possibilities, etc. It's not just a small series, it's an epic! LOL!

So... yeah... I've been hijacked. It's a good thing, though, I think. The characters are a lot of fun to develop and write and I'm really enjoying this. It's been a LONG time since I've written so much with original characters. Now if I could just write something I could publish... heehee :-)

I need a city name, though. I don't want it to be any place real... but I want it nearby DC... but not in Virginia because Virginia sucks. I'd love to set it near Boston instead, but I'd have to rewrite everything to work with the accent thing. So... hrmph... I may be stuck with Southern Maryland. Which isn't a bad thing exactly... I don't know. I'll keep thinking about it. Either way it needs to be a fake city name and I suck at that kind of thing. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. I think I used up my creativity on names and nicknames tonight. LOL

Yay on all the original fic ideas. One of the exercises we had to do in my old mock trial class in high school was to make up back stories for our character. Those were some good times. I really had fun doing that kind of thing. Look forward to see what you come up with!

Chesapeake Bay is Maryland too, right?
you could take Crisfield but it's real and it's already used by Cynthia Voigt in her lovely Tillermans series. anyway, city names ending with -field are always nice imho. they sound spacy.
anyway here's some suggestions:
Wigsdale. Crumfeld. Stokes. Marshbanks.

but yeah, creating characters with names and backgrounds and family histories and all is almost better than writing stories about them. I love inventing names and stuff, but I can hardly ever think of exciting things that can happen to my characters.

Welcome to the power of creating your very own world, my dear. Isn't it simply intoxicating? Here you have these individuals who will say and do anything you tell them to do. Well, they'll cooperate to a point, if your characters are anything like mine, then all at once they'll turn around and say, "You know what? I'm damned sick and tired of all this abuse you heap on me! Forget this, I'm going on vacation..." Threats never work to get them back in the writing room, but I've had some luck with offers of coffee, ice cream, or really good sex (with another character, mind).

Original character hijacking = GOOD!

On a not-quite-original-characters topic....

Hey there!

I realize that this post was about original characters, and I have to say I really enjoyed your recent dog walking story, but I had a sort informal request...a suggestion, if you will. Mind you, it's not an original character idea, but I think it would be interesting none-the-less.

Anyway, I noticed that you've been keeping up with the "Angel" series, and I had actually only seen the more recent ones until a little while ago, when they started playing reruns and I started watching from the beginning. Well, I immediately fell in love with Doyle. I'm not sure if you found him one of the more interesting characters, but I loved the way he and Cordy danced around the possibility of a relationship with each other until...well...you know. I would love it if you'd try a 'fic with him as the focus, maybe a cold 'fic with Cordy to care for him. Anyways, it's just a suggestion for if you have the time and if it interests you.

I really admire your writing, and if I had half the skill you do then I'd have written it myself already. Sadly, I don't have the talent.

Well, I hope you'll consider this, and happy writing!

Hey there, it's me again...I'm actually a member on the Yahoo group, Beyondreason01, but I'm not a LiveJournal user so I just post as "anonymous" on here...

Thank you so much for considering writing your Doyle 'fic! I think it sounds cute...no matter how cheesy, they are still good :)

Anyways, I look forward to reading it when you get around to it!
