tarotgalI actually went out and did little stuff today. Yay :-) Yesterday I helped my 4th grade girls take apart computers- injured myself- no suprise. I always hurt myself when taking apart computers. This time I was pulling cords from the hard drive and scraped my knucle open against the back of the slots where the cards plug in (whatever the name for that is) Owwwwww. Bled a lot (which is not really good at an elementary school- now-a-days concerns like AIDS are very real and they don't like volunteers bleeding all over equipment, LOL) and still hurts, but tis bandaged. Anyway, tomorrow I've got 50 middle school girls to worry about- taking apart more computers, teaching programming, making webpages, virtual reality, and multimedia. I'm in charge of surveys and a quiz and photography (yay!) Still, tis a lot of preparation to be doing and a long day (8am-6pm) tomorrow.
I watched 'Tracker' tonight. *sigh* Terrible show, but this was one of the better episodes. :-) GWD had a lot of lines and such, so that was great.
I taped John Doe- going to go watch right now. Considering I just bought 'From Hell' on DVD, watching John Doe about a Jack the Ripper copycat seems appropriate. I missed the beginning so I didn't want to spoil it by jumping into the middle. I'm thinking of writing a JD fic- just a short probably PWP one. He's just such a cutie and, well, that 'all knowing' nature vs. irresistable weakness is just too alluring.
I went out to town and bought the nice 'Aragorn and Friends' poster with Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. Considering the vids I've been working on lately (I'm thinking of starting another slash one to a version of 'We Belong') and fics I thought it was most appropriate. I spent 2 weeks deciding between buying it and the blue Legolas-only one. So now I caved and have both. heehee! Now I just have to decide where to put it. I considered putting it over the couch- but I still have christmas lights up there (UG, I know, but they're so pretty and I'm hanging Easter lights up in a few days) and I want the poster to be in my bedroom within sight of the computer... so I'm still thinking on that. Hrm... wall space... I need more...
I also bought the latest issue of Playstation magazine- for my paper. I read through an issue of Computer Gamer or Computer Gaming and was very turned off. One column was entitled something like 'Wear your condoms and save your driver disks' Whooo boy. I feel included there. *sigh* Stupid gaming industry. I was much put out to read about the new Jak and Daxter game which will be darker, feature a gun as a weapon, give Jak lots of swear words, change Jak's visual image, and be less cartoony. I really respected them as a company, too. Amazing ideas and graphics went into the first game like the 24-hour light/darkness cycle every 24 minutes. Needless to say, I'll probably not be getting the new game now, even though I adore the first game. OK, I realize they're in it to make money and you gotta go where the money is, but they're not going to get mine now. *growl* Stupid gaming industry. And I swear, if Lara's breasts get any bigger... *growl* And you WONDER why we need to encourage my elementary school and middle school girls to go into computers? There are so few decent games out there that appeal to them. It's truly very sad.
Boyfriend is up to the arrival of the other schools in GoF *G* He apparently LOVES Mad Eye Moody- basically, for the 'Draco Malfoy: the amazing bouncing ferret' bit. LOL I'm having a hard time forcing a smile and nodding, knowing who Moody really is and why he's watching Snape and Malfoy carefully. And Boyfriend seems to think Dumbledore is much more on top of things than he originally thought... which is good. But yeah.. he loves Moody. heehee I am hoping to see his reaction when he reaches the end and realizes it all. :-)
Anyhoo... gonna go staple 80 copies of handouts, cut 80 quizes and insert them into 80 programs, then make a nice powerpoint for tomorrow. And watch John Doe and consider fic possibilities *G* I've got a few lines/scenes rushing through my head right now... hoping to get enough for a short fic :-)

Date: 2003-04-04 09:31 pm (UTC)It took me FOREVER to get my boyfriend to see the first movie... he was interested in teh second one, but it wasn't until I made him listen to the 3rd book on tape (and anniversary present from him to me)that he really started to fall in love with it. It's been very interesting to watch his progress.
I'm looking forward to the DVD! I haven't pre-ordered it, but I don't anticipate that to be too much of a problemo for me. Usually places around here have excellent sales to be competitive when hot new DVDs are released. So I'm going to take my chances.
