Okay, so I managed to make a recording that doesn't sound *too* bad. The longer version has dialogue and sets the scene... I thought people might get a kick out of hearing them. I recorded a little of the scene before it so the whole clip is about 45 seconds long and the sneeze happens about 42 seconds into it. It's soft, but it's there.

Long Version, Medium Quality- 2MB
Short Version, Medium Quality- 600KB

I did record one at high quality... but it's 8MB and I wasn't sure if anyone really wanted it.

I also recorded a little bit that has the voices of everyone... except for Merry. I'll have to find another passage when I have more time that has all the hobbits in an easy-to-distinguish sort of way :-)
Voices, Medium Quality- 2.5MB

Enjoy! :-)

Yay! They kept the Elf/Wizard banter! I can't even describe how much I loved that part in the books...please tell me they kept in the 'I go to find the sun!' line too? *hopeful look* My preferred version of Legolas is *much* more playful and lighthearted, especially in the early parts of the quest, than PJ let Orli portray, and every time I go back to the book version, I become more aware of that fact.

In the first clip, I actually mistook Legolas for Frodo for a few seconds, until I realized what line was being said...it really reminded me of the Frodo from the mind-trippy animated LOTR, with a helping of Elijah Wood's Frodo mixed in. Gandalf's voice is rather typical wizard-fare, and he sounds just as excitable as the animated Gandalf did. Boromir sounded very old to me in this clip, but maybe I was just expecting something stereotypically deep and manly. I found Aragorn's voice rather appealing, quietly sexy. LOVED the coughs and the sneeze was way cute, and *definitely* more high-pitched than I think could come from the men, wizard, or dwarf. You're right, it's probably a hobbit, but without any definite proof, I shall dream to my heart's content. *G*

I couldn't help but cringe when they said Legolas's name in the second clip...but other than that, I really didn't hear anything too awful. Gimli was gruff-sounding, but didn't really say enough for me to pick up on more than that. Aragorn sounds more boring and less sexy in this particular clip. On the other hand, Boromir sounds better here, though I can't put my finger on why. I loved hearing the saying about 'The wolf that one hears is worse than the orc that one fears.' This whole conversation really is nearly straight out of the book...I was following along in my battered copy, mostly in an attempt to figure out which hobbit was which by what lines were said. Legolas sounds like a totally different person in this clip, much older and more masculine...less elven to me, though it doesn't really bother me. Merry and Pippin sound like little cartoon mice from Cinderella and/or Tom and Jerry cartoons! And you're dead right about Frodo's voicer having absolutely NO acting skills whatsoever...'oh how the wind howls' in complete monotone indeed!

Thanks for uploading these. I enjoyed listening to them very much!

P.S. Have you checked out the fic 'Near Miss' linked from the Axe & Bow mailing list? It's the first out-and-out Three Hunters 3-way smut I've read in a very long time, and laced with a liberal amount of elf H/C at that! Definitely worth a look!

Oops, I should have edited the above to read 'didn't hear anything too awful...until I heard the hobbits voices, that is!'. I wrote that sentence before I had finished listening to the whole clip, and forgot to go back and adjust it. :)

Further amened to add that I've now read 'Sanctuary' by the same author as 'Near Miss', and I believe 'Sanctuary' is the far better story of the two. It's more clearly written, and I enjoyed the H/C more as well. Definitely read this one if nothing else.
