Does anyone have any experience with buying mp3's online? (Just single songs, not whole CDs)

I can't use Kazaa any more and there are a few songs I'd love to get ahold of. But I don't know where a good place to go would be that's reliable and inexpensive and doesn't require me to sign up for monthly downloads or download their special mp3 player.

Anyone with any experience/recommendations?

Before you pay, you could try doing a search for the songs on dogpile.com, under audio. I've found a lot of the music I've wanted to get a hold of on that site.

You could use Ares. It's a free site, and it's much better than Kazaa, I found.

I haven't used it myself, but a lot of people tell me www.archambaultzic.ca is a good place to buy mp3s online. Buying one song usually costs 99cent (canadian) and you don't need to buy a minimum amount of songs. Don't worry if the site seems to be all in French : you can easily switch to English if you click in the top right corner of the page. I hope that helps :) Good luck

I'm having this problem right now. www.music.msn.com is having a sale (that ends today, Friday) where if you buy one song for 99cents you get five songs free (you have to download them by September or something. So I signed up but I haven't bought my one song yet because I'm nervous about how it works. LOL I think I might try it tonight before the sale ends though.

Oh, it ends July 10?! Shows you how much I pay attention to the radio commercials...Good, that means I have more time to choose what songs I want.

Download Direct Connect, it's like Kazaa but so much better! No commercial pop ups and it doesn't slow the computer down as Kazaa does.
It's also a share program with different, lots of different hubs. You can also choose favorite hubs, cause almost everything exists there. :)

The iTunes Music Store is really the best I can think of. I know you said you didn't want to have to download a special mp3 player, but iTunes is really great and it's so convenient to be able to download songs and then play them again quickly in the same application. Also, songs are only 99 cents and you can choose whether you want to download an entire album or just one song from it.
