Got my car back from the shop today. With the oil change and the coupon, it was a little less than $400. *sigh* Ah well. And now my car runs properly and has pretty new tires to make all the other cars jealous. So it's all good. Even if my monthly expenses for August are 54.28% car-related right now. And, yes, I have a pie chart to back that up. I'm such a dork.
So today boss (who's apparently been listening to the HP:HBP audiobook) asked me "Who's Bill?"
To which I replied, very quickly, "The eldest of the Weasley children. It goes Bill, Charlie, Percy, the twins, Ron, then Ginny."
"Oh," he said, looking quite lost. "When did...?"
Continuing to sound as though I'm quoting an encyclopedia, "We first met him technically in book 4, though there are mentions of him in the other books, but he moved from Egypt back to England in book 5 to work for the Order."
There was a moment of silence. Then, "Wait... so what book is this then?"
"Half-Blood Prince is book 6 of 7."
More silence. "Oh. I think I'm only up to Azkabon. So I've missed some."
Yeah. That's an understatement! I'd had a feeling about that, and I've tried to give numerous hints about that. But imagine going from book 3 (or even book 2!) to the beginning of book 6! And he got all the way up to the point in the Burrow where Bill enters the story so clearly he's been spoiled for poor Sirius' death. And how in the WORLD is he not more confused? LOL Maybe he is and that was just the first time he *really* realized he was missing something. Yeah. Should be much easier to understand when the books are read in order. Gah. I really tried to tell him. I feel badly. But also kinda jealous. He gets to experience 4 & 5 for the first time now.
Okay. Sleepy now. I was trying to stay up to finish an Obi fic (and wait for my hair to dry) but I'm so tired I might just give up and go to bed instead. Damn. Really want this fic done. *pout* Maybe tomorrow.
