Okay... so I'm still in recovery mode but I can squeeze in a post now :-)
The Bat Mitzvah Sat was great. I love my "new family". I felt pretty awkward at times (as normal) but everyone was *so* nice and sweet and (thank the gods) my boss didn't call me up and point me out to everyone. LOL His daughter was fantastic with her readings- she's been working SO hard and only made a couple of mistakes in the English sections. I cried a little at times during the service. I ate a TON at the celebration (TONS of food, let me tell you!) and even let my neighbor's granddaughter and the foreign exchange student staying with their family drag me up onto the dance floor a couple times even though I have a strict NO DANCING policy. I always bend the policy for THe Electric Slide, though. I am always thrilled to do that, and was glad the DJ threw it in at the end. Yes, I have that on mp3, even. Yes, I am a geek. And the last song they played was a love ballad and while watching my boss & wife and neighbors (the ones with the poodle I walk/dogsit for) dancing among others, I was practically sobbing. SO sweet! I really enjoyed myself a lot. I'm glad I decided to do that instead of going to family weekend at my sister's college (especially since she decided to come home anyway and the rest of my family didn't go).
Whoa. The IRA has fully disarmed. Incredible. *contemplates*
I got an affidavit for jury duty! YIPPIE!!! That makes me excited. I went online and submitted my answers to the questionnaire so maybe I'll get called. Wouldn't that be exciting?! My mother was called but dismissed from a jury after she answered that my dad works for the government. But, yeah, it'd be thrilling to be on a jury, even if I am indecisive. LOL
I got an e-mail from the AIDS Walk staff. I need to be there at 6:30am on the day of the event (Sat). Which I wouldn't mind, honestly, but I can't physically GET there at that time since DC is 35-40 minutes away by Metro and the first train doesn't leave my station until 7am on weekends. I sent an e-mail in reply but haven't heard back. So now I'm worried. I really hope something can get worked out. *worries*
Either way, I've got to head into DC Tuesday night after work for an AIDS Walk meeting. Luckily, the Metro station is right next to Best Buy so I can buy Robots just before I leave and not waste any gas with an extra trip. Yay! I'm slightly nervous about heading into DC alone at night, but, hey, it won't be that dark out going TO the meeting and maybe people will be heading to the station afterwards and I can walk with them. I'm nervous and excited about the adventure as well. I rather like when I get motivated to do things on my own as I'm such a dependant follower at times. And then at other times I'm the complete opposite. So I'm looking forward to being brave Tuesday. And setting up a videotape to tape Bones while I'm gone (and I might leave a note to ask Mom to tape The Amazing Race, but I can handle missing the first episode, I think).
Since I haven't mentioned it yet, a big, huge THANK YOU to the two of you who sponsored me for the Walk. That means SO much to me. I promise more personal thank you's from me. No one even in my family (well, my actual family, not my "new" family) donated, so it really, really means a lot to me that you'd help me out this way by helping out my cause. *HUGE HUGS*
I'm SLOWLY catching up with TV I missed while gone. Today I watched: ROME, How I Met Your Mother (Neil Patrick and Allison ROCKED!), Big Brother, and Survivor, along with tonight's new episodes of Charmed, Desperate Housewives, ROME, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Extras (which was ROTFLMAO funny!). I've still got to watch: Kitchen Confidential, Bones(first and second episodes, actually), The OC, and Reunion, since I managed to watch Prison Break and LOST while in Iowa.
