Ewan and fics
Oct. 23rd, 2005 03:32 amA really short Remus sneezefic popped into my head as I was walking the dog in the rain today (the story has no relation to the event apart from me having time to think). I had a bloody awful day at work today and dread going back tomorrow. And the Caps had what I consider to be their worst loss of the season to date. So I definitely needed a little bit of happy tonight.
I actually updated my rec journal for once today, too. And I got a great Cedric plot bunny I want to write for. And after finishing and posting that LotR fic yesterday, I'm too tired to write any of the giftfics tonight. I don't want them sounding like crap I wrote when I was half asleep.
So instead I watched 'Little Voice'. The movie was... okay. For what it was, I thought it was good. And Jane certainly impressed me. But Ewan was to DIE for. He was all cute!Ewan all the time. And that scene where Billy's out in the cold all night worrying about his bird? My GODS but he's adorable! Oddly, this has got to be one of my favorite Ewan roles now. Just because he's SOO damn cute. That ear-to-ear grin gets me EVERY time. *sigh*
It's enough to make me forget that I've had no feedback on my last two fics. Okay, yeah, they weren't my best and I know weekends are pretty slow. But I'd thought maybe they were worth something *is hopeful* Ah well. It's not stopping my muses any, that's for damn sure. *considers watching LV again and skipping around to the cute!Ewan parts* Definitely something nice to end my day with, after the rotten day at work.

Date: 2005-10-23 08:30 am (UTC)Yay, the long-awaited LOTR fic! And poor Legolas has a broken ankle! *huggles the Elf* I can sympathize...I broke a small bone in my left foot in junior high and I swear I heard the *CRACK* sound, and just knew what had happened. Definitely not a pleasant sound.
I had the picture open to refer to as I read it, and I love all the little details you pulled from the pic, like the branch height, placement of arms and legs, and the richness and detail of the clothing. I liked the explanation for why Legolas is wearing gloves but Aragorn is not, and that reasoning that went on in my head is largely why I enjoyed that picture in the first place (besides the fact that the guys are gorgeous, of course *G*).
I've also decided that I want a luxurious fur-lined (faux, naturally) winter cloak like Legolas has here. It just looks so warm and snuggly, and beautiful too. The hood continunally falling down was a nice touch, and very cute...it made Legolas seem more vulnerable and gave Aragorn something he could do to attempt to make Legolas a little more comfortable. Plus, I find hooded Legolas more than a little sexy!
Thanks for more lovely Legolas sneeziness. I find it very in character how he refused to not rest, and do scouting instead. It kinda goes along with the newly posted General plot bunny #85, actually. I was delighted by Aragorn's comments about snow exposure correlating to longer recovery time, and the yummy implications as to the consequences of the events in this fic. Hurt, dizzy, and sick for a longer time...be still my heart! I would be totally unable to refrain from pouncing on the Elf, were I there...
I *LOVED* Gimli at the end, with all his possessiveness (it's not often a male Elf is literally swept off his feet!), and his impeccable timing with the handkerchief as usual. He puts up a good show of gruffness, but his true feelings show though in his care-taking.
LOL at your icon! I'll be nice for once, and not tell you the kinds of things that popped into my head for a possible sequel to this fic. *G*

Date: 2005-10-23 05:31 pm (UTC)I don't usually drink alcohol but damn that sounds good! Today's started out pretty annoyingly as well, so thank you very much :-)
I broke a small bone in my left foot in junior high and I swear I heard the *CRACK* sound, and just knew what had happened. Definitely not a pleasant sound.
Oh ow! So sorry for bringing back such an unpleasant memory!
I had the picture open to refer to as I read it
I had it open on the other side of my screen while I was writing it, too, as you could probably tell :-) But I'm glad you took advantage of the visual and enjoyed all the little details!
I liked the explanation for why Legolas is wearing gloves but Aragorn is not
heehee That was definitely the first thing that struck me when I first started to study the picture. Given all we've seen with Legolas in the snow in the books/movies why in the world would he wear gloves if Aragorn didn't need them? *G* That definitely made me suspect Legolas wasn't completely well
reasoning that went on in my head is largely why I enjoyed that picture in the first place (besides the fact that the guys are gorgeous, of course *G*)
Of course :-) I'm very glad you enjoyed where I took the fic, based on the picture! I know you probably had something (at least slightly) different in your head so it's great to know you still enjoyed where I took it
I've also decided that I want a luxurious fur-lined (faux, naturally) winter cloak like Legolas has here.... Plus, I find hooded Legolas more than a little sexy!
Oooohhh yeah about Legolas in hoods. (I almost nearly wrote 'the elf in the hood' just there but that sounded sooooo laughably WRONG! *madly fights off AR bunnies*) And I agree entirely about the cloak. I'm so glad you enjoyed that element. Makes me want to dig up that WIP of mine involving naked Jedi on a fur rug... and I think I might have one of Legolas and Gimli one one as well
I was delighted by Aragorn's comments about snow exposure correlating to longer recovery time, and the yummy implications as to the consequences of the events in this fic. Hurt, dizzy, and sick for a longer time...be still my heart! I would be totally unable to refrain from pouncing on the Elf, were I there...
Ditto!!! I love the idea of elf sickness being so influenced by the weather. And anything to cause Legolas slower recovery time is certainly nummy in my book! I was just delighted when that concept suddenly appeared in the fic. I really must remember it for future stories.
And I must admit I had the urge to continue the story onwards to include the nice roaring fire and Legolas snuggling up with Gimli... but it just didn't make sense to include any of that in the fic, with its purpose being what it was. However I could definitely see myself writing a follow-up. It would be fun trying to write annoyed-but-worried Gimli in a setting where there was time to discuss things.
(it's not often a male Elf is literally swept off his feet!)
Too true! And you'll notice Aragorn didn't do so when he had opportunity to. But when it comes to the safety and health of his elf, Gimli is efficient and practical. And, most importantly, Legolas doesn't try to stop him or insist that he's all right and doesn't need to be carried.
I *LOVED* Gimli at the end, with all his possessiveness, and his impeccable timing with the handkerchief as usual. He puts up a good show of gruffness, but his true feelings show though in his care-taking.
I'm so glad all that came through for you!! *hugs*
LOL at your icon! I'll be nice for once, and not tell you the kinds of things that popped into my head for a possible sequel to this fic. *G*
No need. I love getting bunnies from you; they're always so thoughtful and it's quite a compliment that my stories inspire you to think of other elements for me to write. And, like I said, I can definitely see myself writing a sequel. So feel free to drop me bunnies ANY time!
Thank you ever so much for your feedback!!! It's really a treat and it's great to know someone actually *read* the fic, let alone liked it :-) Thank you!!

Date: 2005-10-24 12:34 pm (UTC)No worries! It wasn't really that unpleasant, other than the initial shock of realizing that's what the cracking sound was. I was late to class and running down the stairs and I turned my ankle and stepped on it hard. I have weak ankles and had gotten mild sprains many times before, but this different. Turned out it was only a crack in one of the multitude of small bones on the side of the foot, not a major load-bearing area like an ankle would be, so I was able to walk on it 3 days later without too much discomfort. The x-rays were difficult to read when dealing with little bones in that location, so I walked on it a good 2 weeks before the doctor decided that it truly was broken and I should have a cast!
Not too terribly different, actually. I had envisioned a leg injury and/or severe dizziness and tiredness from the start. But the whole background plot and the role of Gimli were things I hadn't thought about, so it was fun to discover your point of view. :)
Oooh, a tasty vision indeed! Soft fur on exquisitely sculpted bodies...*purrrrr* I definitely hope that you post this one (or the Legolas/Gimli one) for us all to enjoy someday!
Yes! Please do use this concept again! More run-down, sickly Legolas for a longer time makes for a very happy Lady Korana! *G* It's exactly the kind of elf-fic I've been longing for since you did the Ondarian Virus saga for Obi, though I'm definitely not suggesting you put yourself through that kind of long writing haul again for a great long while.
You're so going to regret that...*G* Ok, game on! I'm going to bombard you with all my plot bunny sequel thoughts in my next post. Don't say I didn't warn you! ;)

Date: 2005-10-24 01:04 pm (UTC)-Need to set/splint broken ankle-ouch!
-Transportation back to Minas Tirith (How long/how far away? What method to transport Legolas? May need to camp overnight=out in cold longer=longer elf illnes. Tent cuddling w/Gimli for warmth & talking.)
-Spend night (at least one) at Houses of Healing for obs.
-Pain meds=sleepy/loopy elf?
-Everyone sympathetic, taking turns fussing over elf
-Not wanting to sleep/stay in bed (maybe spend time in Aragorn's private study on couch in front of fireplace while Aragorn does king stuff, wearing comfy tunic & warm robe with blankets & Gimli-pillow)
-sneezing with crutches?
-stuffy talk
-shivering
-flushed & feverish
-medicinal teas
-Cold weather+illness+injury=longer time for both injury & illness to heal
-joke about 'gracefullness' of elves
-Long Build-ups!
Ok, that's the whole list. I'm really glad no one at work saw this, as a lot of it's a pretty blunt listing of my direct fic turn-ons.*blushes and hides in corner*
Feel free to use any or none of these elements as your muses see fit. Or just have a good giggle at my thought processes. *G*

Date: 2005-10-23 10:59 am (UTC)Sorry you had such a bad day at work, and that you have to go back tomorrow. MY work was sooooooo busy yesterday that I'm hoping it's dead today so I can catch up on all the stuff I'm way behind on, but I doubt it.
Just left you feedback for your SW fic, it reminded me of the happy days of your month long fic last year. I think the SF group has been really quite, nothing much has been posted over the last few days. I didn't get any fb on my fic but it's not a real fandom and not really popular either so I wasn't sure I'd get any. I only wrote it because I so lust for Johnny Damon that I just can't contain myself. My husband told me he was going to write to Dear Abby about my obsession :).
I'm very anxious to read that Remus SF that popped into your head, hope you get to write it soon. We really need some new sneezy puppy fics.
I was debating asking if you minded me posting your giftfic to list. I don't have an LJ so I was thinking it might be worth posting there, but it is yours now. Let me know what you think.
Ok, enough rambling, I really am going to get ready for work....right now.

Yeah, exactly. Three stories posted in the span of 2 says and NOTHING. *pouts* But that seems to be the trend on weekends in general so I'm not surprised. But thank you for the feedback! I still owe you some proper fb for your giftfic.

Ohhh that's silly! Everyone's got obsessions. I'm sorry I don't follow baseball *at all* I find it *SO* slow. But I must admit, the more I read Kyle's B&B the more the sport is growing on me a little more. But, hey, I think it's fantastic you're inspired by the guy! He is rather attractive ;-)

Hopefully I'll have it done today. It's what I call a "quick fic" in that I'm banging it out in very little time. I might go back and do a little editing as quality suffers for the speed. But I should have it up tonight unless something huge happens. But it's great to know you're looking forward to it :-) I can NEVER get enough sneezy puppy fics.

I would be MORE than happy to do so! I'd love to put it in the "Gifts" section of my website as well, if that's all right with you. It DEFINITELY deserves to be read by more people than just me! *snuggles Sirius*

Date: 2005-10-24 05:05 am (UTC)That would be fine with me if you think it's worthy :).
I did post if to the SF list as well.
I'm still really looking forward to your Remus fic. I'll be at my kids school ALL DAY tomorrow working the book fair, butI'll be sure to check in the morning to see if it's posted yet.

Date: 2005-10-24 04:11 am (UTC)Sorry for the late feedback -I work on weekends - yeah it sucks....
But Legolas and Aragorn - loved it. My favorite couple. I have so missed your stories about him. I am so happy I will even accept possessive Gimli - but Aragorn should have just claimed his elf...ooh
Sneezing, snogging, and snow - oh yeah baby
