Fic updates
Oct. 30th, 2005 11:39 pmTa da!
Okay, no reason for that. I'm just feeling all accomplished for once. Today I managed to do a load of laundry, went to see 5 different houses on the market with my parents (GODS I'm tired of that- it's not like I've got a say in the decision process anyway! LOL), finished disk 3 of The OC Season 1 (I missed a few episodes when it was first on TV so I'm taking advantage of my Blockbuster subscription and DAMN but I want to buy this series on DVD now...), I slept in as long as I needed and was still up by 12 thanks to the time change (can you tell it was my first chance to sleep in for 3 weeks?), I watched my usual Sunday shows, and I did some writing:
I wonder if they'll have any candy corn left if I hit the stores after Halloween for the sales. I'm sooooooooo craving good candy. All my mother ever buys is chocolate and I'm not a chocolate person at all. Which is not to say I don't eat or don't like chocolate... I just prefer a lot of other candy to chocolate. Which is practically illegal to say in my family. My mother's side of the family came from Hershey LOL
Going to go dig out my 'spoohky' shirt to wear tomorrow. ANd I'm going to Bookcross and leave two Halloween-themed books at Starbucks tomorrow. Gods I'm such a dork but I SO adore Halloween. I'm going to do a little solo Samhain ritual and remember my grandfather who passed this year. Especially as Halloween was his birthday. So we've all been thinking of him a lot lately.

- Finished two gift fics (out of four). Not going to say which ones as I'm going to post them all together, but they're lovely and finished and I suck at finishing stuff in relation to how much I start so that makes me happy
- Edited my Ronfic and hopefully it's a little more in-line with canon now. I'm posting the first two chapters tomorrow.
- Worked on my Cedric fic. Hit a problem, solved it, and kept going. Yay. Gotta love Quidditch locker room sex...

Date: 2005-10-31 05:10 am (UTC)I have my apartment decorated all over the inside with Halloween decorations, including lots of candleholders shaped/colored like fall leaves, and lots of orange and black candles with yummy scents like orange, pumpkin spice, candy corn, whispering leaves (a woodsy fall scent), and black cherry. I have a garland of fake fall leaves on my fireplace mantle, interspersed with metal candleholders shaped like luminario bags with cat shapes cut out so that the light glows through them. I have a squirrel candleholder on top of my tv, a wreath of fall leaves and berries on my front door, and a large fake spider sitting on a real pumpkin that's sitting just inside my entryway. Fall's my favorite time of year, though winter's a close second, so I really tend to go all out!
Plus, I adore dressing up for holidays. I was Cleopatra for the pharmacy party I went to last night, and it was so much fun! I had a total blast walking into the party and having no one recognize me right away due to the braided black wig and heavy eye makeup! The best costume, far and away, last night was the guy who dressed up like King Arthur's squire, Patsy, from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It was a perfect outfit, from the clothes to the large backpack, down to the dried coconuts he carried around to clap together! Next most fun was probably Rainbow Brite, which makes me wish I had the kind of body where I could dress up as one of my 80's cartoon heros, like She-Ra or Cheetara from Thundercats.
Anyway, the point is, you're far from silly to love Halloween so much!
And Yay for the gift fics...I'm so excited to see what you come up with!

Date: 2005-10-31 05:23 am (UTC)OMG at one of the open houses today they had a whole bowl of Smarties. I totally nicked one and ate them in the car. Sooooo hit the spot and inspired my current craving. LOL

Sounds gorgeous and wonderful. Good for you for going all out!! Oh, and I got your card and I was waiting until Halloween to open it but, hey, it's Halloween in my time zone now! *opens* ROTFLMAO! Awwwww! *HUGS* Kind of reminds me of a poem I wrote in 6th grade... but this is TOO cute! *snuggles sick vampire* Thank you!!!

Wow! Congrats on not being recognized! I'm sure you looked quite stunning :-)

Awwwww! I would have loved to have seen that! When I was in Scotland I dragged my friends to see the castle where they filmed much of that movie and I got to gallop back and forth with two halves of coconuts, banging them together. Totally thrilling for a geek :-)

Go She-Ra!!! hehee Very awesome. I wouldn't be able to pull those off either, though, any more.

I hope you like yours. I'm a little worried... but no matter what I write I'd be worried. Because I wouldn't want to give a gift fic and have it really stink. Not that I think it stinks, but I'm nervous. But that just makes me want to finish the others up faster so that I can post them all and then not worry about them any more. LOL

Date: 2005-10-31 06:28 am (UTC)LOL! Glad you enjoyed your card! I was worried about you opening it in front of your parents or something like that, and someone accidentally catching on, so I'm glad you waited until late at night. It's such a cheesy card, but I simply couldn't stop myself from getting it for you...and it is rather cute, I admit. ;-)
Well, I'm not worried about any fic you write being sucky. Hasn't happened yet, and I'm so glad you're writing one for me at all, I wouldn't mind if it did, so long as it had sneezy elf. *G* So no worries!
