Home Sweet Home
Nov. 10th, 2005 01:11 amBack from training. It went far better than I'd expected. The people there kept saying they really liked me (but they know I'm a blue so maybe they were just saying it to make me feel better, LOL) and I think it'll be a lot of fun working with them. I'm really hoping the business takes off. It means a 50% pay raise per hour for me if I'm working on stuff related to their company, and possible healthcare coverage, like I said before. So that would be fantastic for me with the move coming up. And I've got exactly $3.87 in the bank at the moment. LOL
Anyway, I'm exhausted. Kept falling asleep while watching The Amazing Race. I almost wish it'd been LOST I slept through. *bangs head against wall* If I didn't like the show so much, I'd have given up long, long ago. So painful. Good thing I don't read spoilers (don't need to!) else I'd have no reason at all to watch it, apart from the characters. But, really, it's painful for me when I can predict NEXT week's episode within the first 5-10 minutes of this week's, not just lines and plot points for the current episode. (My mother got the bloodhound line almost word-for-word, which was most amusing). *facepalm* I adore the show, I really do. It's just my usual arguement about how incredibly predictable I find it as show that's supposed to be so mysterious and hard to figure out. *shrug* But I still watch and video tape every episode and enjoy watching it. ANd, hey, Sawyer really does a great: "I'm fine!" *collapse* Knew he would. Sexy boyo *loves*
Yeah. My point earlier. I'm exhausted. Don't think I'm up fot plot bunny generating tonight. Will do so tomorrow since I'm already an hour late in my time zone. Sorry about that. Soooooo tired. ANd must wake up very early to take care of neighbor's dog. So sleep is good. My throat's been hurting for days now. Not a great sign. But, yeah. Work is good. Weird still, but good. I'm hopeful.

Date: 2005-11-10 08:50 am (UTC)I completely enjoyed this episode, in part because there was no Kate and a mere second of Jack. Acutally I didn't even notice they weren't in it until a friend pointed it out to me later. And weak Sawyer was indeed a joy to watch. *G*

So here's my reasoning for the ep.
Show starts. Sayid and Shannon finally have the sex. They are far too happy. One of them will probably be the one "lost" this episode. Shannon's backstory starts. Ah, must be Shannon then. And, knowing the show, it'll happen at the end of the episode. I'm sure Sayid won't be happy with that! Assuming he knows. Awww, look, they're cuddling. Yeah, he'll find out. He'll probably be witness and that'll send him over the edge. Shannon is alone many times in the jungle, putting herself at risk and getting emmotionally invested in this quest (the first time she's ever been seen to REALLY put herself out there without being asked/persuaded and give a damn about someone when it doesn't benefit her directly). Shannon's backstory is about death. How fitting. Sayid ends up with her. Ah, the episode is coming back to the beginning- contrast between the happy sex and a sad death. Ah, now he's promising to ALWAYS be with her. Kiss of death, dude. NEVER say that in a drama! We saw the tail-end castaways in the jungle where there's whispering and we saw Laura Croft wannabe chica with her gun pulled (she's obviously paranoid after what happened to her brother/son). Then Shannon and Sayid hear the voices so there's a great chance they're in the same area of the jungle and going to bunp into each other. Then Shannon gets separated from Sayid one moment and falls down dead the next (not exactly something The Udders do- they kidnap, not kill- at least not at first) so clearly she's been harmed by something OTHER than black smoke monsters or the Udders and that gun WAS drawn at the end of the last scene. Ah, and so she dies in Sayid's arms. No surprise. And then Sayid presents his very angry face. Again, no surprise.
*shrug* It's not like I can see EVERYthing coming. Like The Swan. But it was hard for me not to see things like her death in this episode. (Although I'd been hoping one of the unimportant group would be going. I predicted it'd be blond chica or the woman who only got one line this week- and halfway through the episode, that's the woman who disappeared. But that was after I'd decided Shannon would be the big, shocking death of the epsiode. For it to have been Sawyer, for example, it would have been far too easy.)

Mmmm Sawyer *EG*
Yeah... I like Jack, but he's getting a bit annoying. And there's not a lot more they can do with Kate's character (seems like the writers are REALLY reaching to give her more traits when she really isn't that full a character, which is probably why she suddenly adopted that "I'm suddenly actually in love with Sawyer" characteristic)
I don't mind when they're on screen... I love characters in general, so anything's good to me. But I agree the episode didn't suffer at all from their absence (or near absence, in one case). :-)

Date: 2005-11-10 11:28 pm (UTC)Yeah, they're so desperate to give Kate stuff to do and make us like her that her backstory keeps getting more and more farfetched and convoluted, and now she practically screams 'Mary-Sue' to me. Jack isn't quite as bad but I still find all of the minor players more fascinating than the ones that the writers seem bent on telling us are the 'leads', with the possible exception of Locke, who was again awesome this episode.
