Gift Fic Requests- 2005

All righty! The time everyone's been waiting for: requests for gift fics from tg for the 2005 holidays!

Here's how it's going to work this year (which will be incredibly similar to last year): Let me know what you want and when you want it. I'll do my very, very best to post it on your specified holiday. Because I anticipate a LOT of requests (considering how many I had last year!) priority goes to people who I coverse with through e-mail and LJ frequently. I don't know how many I'm going to be able to handle, but I think I'm going to cut it off somewhere between 15 and 20 if I get that many. I'm going to keep this offer open so long as I don't get completely bombarded with requests. I do have a real life, after all. I'm going to try to shoot for 3-5 pages each (last year I think I said 1-3 but I seriously don't think I'll be able to write a good 1 page story about anything LOL) but the more details you give, the easier it'll be for me to write.

Reply to this post with the answers if you want a gift fic. Here's what I need you to give me:
1. Your username (This should be the easy part)
2. Which winter holiday(s) you celebrate (so I know when to try and have it done. If you don't specify one, I'll post it on New Year's)
3. Fandom (ONLY original characters or fandoms I'm familiar with, please. And I'd prefer not to write Real Person fics)
4. Pairing(s) if any (I'm pretty much open to ANY pairings here, even ones I don't ship- het, slash, and femslash are all acceptable)
5. Character(s) you want to see sneezing if any and if you have a preference (just so there's no confusion when I go to write the fic)
6. Rating or range of ratings (and/or specific stopping points. ex: kissing but no sex... or sex but nothing graphic... etc.)
7. Plot, situations, kinks, elements, sneezing/no sneezing, colds/allergies/other, etc. (My list of squicks is getting shorter and shorter by the day, so there's very little I won't agree to write at this point. Feel free to specify as much as you like here because the more you include, the easier it is for me to write!)

Additional things: Only one request per person (so make it a good one). If I honestly don't think I can write your request, I reserve the right to tell you this and ask you to pick another. And, again, the more details you specify, the easier it is for me to write, so think about your request before you submit it. (I'm not saying you have to go into great detail, but if you want something specific, feel free to ask for it!) Fics don't have to take place during holidays, but can if that's what you'd like.


PS- I'm very touched by the offers for fics people have dropped my way over the last few days. I'm thinking them over right now and will reply ASAP. I'll probably also do one of those "this is what I'd love as a present" LJ memes that are so popular around the holidays in case anyone else feels generous as the holidays come around. But I really like being able to give gift fics this time of year so requesting one doesn't mean you are required to give me anything in return. Your feedback, comments, and friendship online are more than enough :-)

PPS- The song meme gift fics are coming along well. One is completely finished. One is very close to being finished. And one is nearly half finished. I'm going to try to work on them all weekend and have them done incredibly soon. Sorry it's taken me so long. I've had other bunnies nibbling at me ;-)

I meant *winter* holidays, sorry. Though I'd still be willing to write it by Thanksgiving if you wish, if you want to switch to Christmas or something that's fine, too. I thought of clarifying 'holiday' but thought that was evident because of what I did last year. Sorry for any confusion. If you do actually want it for Thanksgiving instead of Christmas, I can do that.

As for the request and fandom... Though I've never written in it before, I'd be more than happy to write a Sleepy Hollow fic. My middle school mascot was the headless horseman so the fandom's sort of in my blood :-) And it's as good an excuse as any to pull that DVD off my shelf and watch it again :-) So sure. No problem!

5. Character(s) you want to see sneezing if any: This is going to sound silly, I know, but can I request a h/c fic with no sneezing? Or just minimal sneezing that's not the focus of the story.

6. Rating or range of ratings: Any rating is fine, as long as there's no romance :)

7. Plot, situations, kinks, elements, sneezing/no sneezing, colds/allergies/other, etc: If you've read the books, could this be about Hornblower and Bush? Or if you've just seen the movies, about Horatio and (Bush and/or Archie)? Horatio is a man who is incredibly hard on himself. He holds himself responsible for any and every failure that happens, regardless of whether he could actually have prevented it. Could you pease write something where he is quite seriously hurt/sick (but the effects come on slowly) but thinks that he deserves it because (he thinks) he has failed at something, and will not rest until he's proved himself again?

I'm not even remotely familiar with HH, except for the fact that snowshie (I think it was snowshie) wrote a fic for one of the contests in that fandom and I got to stare at all the nummy pictures while I was making the fandom header.

However, the whole series is on my Blockbuster Online queue and slated to be mailed to me as soon as I finish the next 4 disks of The L Word Season 2. (Spots 5 through 10 in my queue) So I anticipate being somewhat familiar with it by the time I need to start writing this fic for you. I can't promise getting the characters perfect (especially as I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if I can pick it up fast) and I haven't read the books at all, so it'll be movie-based exclusively. But I am relatively certain I'll be able to write what you're asking for here. I'll let you know as the date approaches if I can't. Is that all right?

As for the story concept itself... no, it doesn't sound remotely silly! So would you prefer no sneezing to just a little sneezing? I enjoy writing non-sneezing h/c's so I seriously don't mind. I just want you happy with the result! :-) And even though I haven't met the characters yet, I do think I'll be able to handle your request. Thank you for the detail :-)

Hey there. Bet you saw this coming a mile away, but I'd like some sick, sniffly Legolas please!

I utterly adored your gift fic to me last year, and I'd like this one to be the same general type of rating...slashy overtones and/or deep frienship, but no explicit sex. I'd rather have the focus be on the illness and caring than on hormone-filled smut, at least for this fic. *G* Not to say I don't like elf smut...nope, not at all...mmm, bare, sweaty elven skin...*smiles dreamily* Wait, I'm getting sidetracked here!

I'm not sure exactly what you're doing for my song contest fic, so I don't want to duplicate ideas. I've got *plenty* of idea backups in case you need me to choose a different bunny, so let me know if I tread anywhere near your idea.

Now, for the idea: Definitely post-ROTK. As opposed to last year's fic's banquet, this time I'd rather have a private gathering of friends. It doesn't have to be in Minas Tirith, though that would be the obvious choice. I kinda envision a warm gathering around a big fireplace to share memories and celebrate whatever winter holiday they celebrate in Middle-earth. I wouldn't say no to a dash of hurt/comfort thrown in, but mostly I just want Legolas to be worried and fussed over by his friends, if that can be arranged.

(Alternatively, I would love to see a sequel to the fic where Legolas breaks his ankle out in the snow with Aragorn, but if you were planning on writing one eventually, then I don't want to use up my pick on something you would have written even without a specific request.)

As for deadline, I don't care if you wait and do mine last again. I'll be visiting my parents and others around Christmas again and may not be anywhere that I feel comfortable reading this type of fic. I'm working December 28th-January 3rd, though I will definitely have computer access then. So, I guess I'll say New Year's, but I'm not picky if it's later. The end result was worth it last year!

I absolutely, positively intend to write a follow-up to the ankle-breaking snowfic (I've got some of it written in my head already). So I'm more than happy not to write that for you here ;-) And what you suggest doesn't have any overlap with the song meme giftfic. So no worries there (apart from me worrying about you liking the song meme giftfic!!!)

Anyway... no, I'm not surprised by your request. And I shall try to do my best with this idea! If any more specifics occur to you between now and mid-Dec that you just have to have in the fic, feel free to throw them my way. (Not that I need them as I already have some images running through my head, but you're always so good at coming up with things like this) And thanks for the bit of relief deadline-wise. I'll shoot for New Year's but put it in my "it's okay if it's a few days late" pile. I'm positive the extra time will be beneficial.

They live at Hogwarts, together, possibly in Snape's chambers. Snape is snarky, but does want Harry to feel better and does take care of him. Harry has a fever. Clothing is optional.

That last part might be incoherent. I've read so many Snarrys that offer so many different outcomes (especially regarding Harry's profession) that, while it might not matter in a sneezefic, it seems important to mention. :-)

Yes, I knew it was coming (or at least had a very strong inkling) and I don't think it'll be too painful at all (strangely enough). I'm more worried with making Snape snarky enough than handling the pairing, truth be told. I definitely don't have his character down well enough for my liking.

As for the offer- thank you! I'm working it out in my head right now. (I'm so bad with making requests... the only one I've ever made was never written for me and I'm the sort of person who feels guilty asking) I'm tempted to say RENT because I love those boys to death. And, along that line, if you find you totally can't write anything, it's okay. Considering the only gift fic I've ever requested was never written for me, I promised myself not to get my hopes up and just be happy with whatever happens. I'm really enjoying writing the fics, at any rate. And I MORE than understand how RL can go nuts- especially around the holidays. ANd it took me a YEAR to finish that OC fic for you. LOL So, seriously, I feel guilty asking and understand if it just doesn't work out.

Okay... so here are my top three... pick whichever strikes you:

1. HP Ponyboyfic. *runs and hides under covers* OMG I can't believe I'm actually asking. *blushes and laughs nervously* I seriously don't know how well images like Ponderosa's would translate into a fanfic... but if you think you could and are game to give it a shot you would win my undying gratitude. I'd name my firstborn after you or become your personal slave for life or whatever you want. I'm only asking because you offered and I definitely don't have the courage to ask anyone else this! *blushes even more* Anyway... yeah... if you could manage it, I'd love a ponyboy fic. I'm not a huge HP/DM fan at all but, seriously whatever pairing would work for the story, I'd be happy with. Sirius & Remus (the two remaining Marauders) breaking in the troublesome twins... or Harry/Ron or Harry/Neville or Harry/Ron/Hermione... or even Snarry! Again, I don't know how well the kink translates into story form, but if you can manage it, I would DIE for a good ponyboy fic.

2. I certainly wouldn't say no to ANYTHING Jedi either. (Okay, maybe not Yoda... I love him but he's just not as sexy to me as Qui or Obi, to be honest) Either overly fluffy and snuggly or really kinky and intimate. Preferably with lots of cold/flu sneezing from one or both of the boys.

3. Okay... I think I'm going to give almost everyone the Cedric bunny... because I would LOVE to read a sneezefic with him in it. Especially after seeing the movie, I find Hufflepuff dynamics just fascinating. He's got a nice group of friends in the movie and it's interesting to see how he interacts with them and how true he is to his convictions. He's smart and touch and loyal and fair and friendly and sweet. Plus he's damn handsome and a Quidditch Captain and a Prefect and becomes a Champion for the entire school... he's a fascinating character and I would love to see how he deals with being sick, what sort of support he gets from people around him, etc. (It's always interesting to me to see Marauder h/c dynamics- which are always so cuddly and sweet- versus trio dynamics- always good h/c but less touchy-feely- versus Slytherin h/c- which is somewhat nonexistant by choice- so it would be interesting to see how Hufflepuffs handle it).

Just a thought that popped into my head. I honestly had Never Ever paired Princess Bride and fetish in my head till I saw the avatar in connection with sf fict. requests. hehehe... But it just seems like it has nice potential.

If the muse inspires I think that it would come out Really well. If you don't have time I honestly understand and won't feel offended at All.

And in regards to your wish list- I Definately would love to see that. I have a much more narrow repitore than you do, but if there is an idea that I could try, I would consider it a priveledge.

ooohhh. Apart from the Horatio Hornblower fic, this is definitely going to be the hardest for me. I know the movie so well that it's going to be very difficult to get my mind to accept additional situations and stories (a problem every time I try to read the book, for example).
But it does have potential... and it's my favorite movie EVER and I adore the characters. So I will give it a good try.

Oh, and since you're here... I'm just working on the last song meme gift fic and then I'll post all three of them. I did end up writing Anne and Gil... I'm worried about how it turned out, but hopefully you'll like it. *worries*

Well, in order for there to be smut, I don't think I'll be writing a very young Legolas. But I know what you meant. And your idea is definitely something I can work with. No problem!

6. No limit to rating or range of ratings or stopping points. I like the H/C more than the sexual aspect, however, needing to sneeze while kissing always seems to work well :) Many sets of multiple sneezing would be nice too instead of a bunch of singles or doubles here and there.
7. Sawyer comes down sick, rather suddenly (no feelings of gradually getting sick, just one minute fine, and then next minute, bam! sore throat, aches, congestion, fever, out of nowhere) So he doesn't quite know what to make of it, and is in the middle of some sort of task or event that doesn't allow him to stop and take a break. He and Kate are separated from Jack & the others, so there's no doctor (or Sun) to help, only Kate is around to aid him, so luckily his suffering is only made visible to one other person, and even that is more than enough for him. He tries to hide all his symptoms at first, but his illness eventually wins. Once discovered, Kate forces him to rest, and he feels guilty because now she is left to complete the task single handedly, or somehow they are put into danger by stopping and resting (i.e. not getting themselves back to the beach/caves). He also has the classic "terrible patient" syndrome. This obviously takes place prior to him leaving on the raft in season 1. Kate can catch it too and have the tables turned once Sawyer is on the mend, or it can just be left with him suffering and her caring, s'up to you, whatever's easier.
Hi, I've never replied to your journal as of yet (always way too shy & nervous), however I have been a lurker for over a year now and have read all of your fics (Fan and non-fan fics), and love every one of them, especially Silence is a Virtue (and the whole "bush" series). Although I love your LOTR fanfics the most, I've only recently gotten hooked on Lost, even though you are right, the writing is so predictable! There are only a handful of Lost sneezefics out there, and who better to write one than you? I figured I'd gather up my courage and ask. I totally understand that you have been bombarded with requests, and that you prioritize your close pals first. Hopefully this fandom will easily spark your creativity. Okay, so as a pretty silent lurker I feel very very sheepish putting in my request...and I want to be REALLY CLEAR that if there's too much on your plate it's totally fine if this one doesn't get done! I don't want you to stress about it. Reading the excellent fic requests that have been put in already would be more than enough of a winter celebration!

But I did promise myself that if you had under 20 requests when I finished my essays for uni that I would put a request in just in case...so here goes..

5. Qui-Gon. But that actually doesn't have to be the centre of the story- it could be either Qui-Gon sick, or Obi-Wan sick with Qui-Gon catching it towards the end...whatever feels easiest, as long as he slots in somewhere..
6. Nothing too graphic. Fluff is good. Long live fluff.
7. *ahem* they're somewhat embarassingly standard...Someone getting wet and cold outside, and not being able to get warm and dry for a long time. Someone doing the 'I must be strong and dutiful and carry on while I'm sick' thing. Oh, and I'd love an appearance by Tala too if he's lurking around somewhere..

Now I know you said you'd put a meme up, but just in case you're doing personal requests I thought I'd mention that I'd be really into trying my hand at a gift fic for you. Have only written the one fic so I'm still a bit shy about my fic writing, but I'd love to give it a go. The fandoms I know best would be the standard SW, Harry Potter and LOTR, but I'm also a big fan of Highlander...the Highlander characters seem somehow tricky to translate into the world of sneezefic but I could try, I know there're not many others in the community who are into it...any particular characters/scenarios you'd like to see?

I find it very difficult to write sneezefics with them... even though Duncan sneezes in the first book and mentions to Anne in season 3 that immortals can catch colds. So, yeah, if you can't get your head around it, I more than understand that problem.

But seeing as how so very few people in the community know the fandom at all, I would SOOOOOOOO adore a Highlander sneezefic!
As far as characters/scenarios go... I'm starting to build an appreciation for Methos/Duncan, but if you're not into slash, strict buddy-buddy h/c would be more than fine by me. I'd LOVE some sneezy!Methos, though, at any rate. Preferably a cold and preferably with them stuck somewhere (on the barge in the middle of the river during an ice storm or at some location, dodging another immortal the way Methos is so fond of doing, etc.) and having to rely on each other (something neither is particularly good at- silly boys who think they're so tough and can take care of themselves all the time!)

Anyway, if the muses aren't cooperating, ANYTHING in the Star Wars variety would be just great as well- especially a coldfic starring Obi & Qui :-)
