Notes: Written as a gift fic for Hermione during the 2005 holiday season. It’s my very first attempt at writing in this fandom, so I do hope it turned out all right.

I really hope this is all right. I keep going back and forth between liking it and thinking it's way off base. Honestly, it felt like I was channeling 'From Hell' in places. LOL Hermione, if it's too terrible let me know and I'll write you something else, because you deserve something good. Thanks for being a great online friend this year!!!

I know this isn't my gift or even a fandom I know but I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the story. I don't know the characters(but it definetly didn't hurt to picture Johnny Depp) but I thought the story was great. Very cute way to find teh killer and solve the crime.

I went to 'Washington Irving' middle school and our mascot was the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow. So the fandom's sort of in my blood. It was definitely fun to try to write a sneezefic with the characters. I'm glad you enjoyed my attempt :-) Thank YOU for the fb!

oh my gosh, this is perfect! especially for someone who hasnt really written in the fandom before. ;)
*bounces excitedly in seat* YAY! I was so worried you might not like it. I wrote most of it before re-watching the movie, then stuck the DVD in and finished writing it (and making slight changes here and there) while watching. So I'm glad you thought it came out all right. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it!

I loved the whole idea that the killer followed the 12 days of Christmas game hehe--that was interesting :) thank you so much!
You're welcome. I thought of the idea the day after you made the request but I became worried. Apparently (according to my encyclopedia) the original Legend is supposed to take place back when New York was still a Dutch colony. I think the date would have been before 1664, if I recall correctly. According to my research, the 12 Days of Christmas first appeared in print in 1780 in England, though the tune was from France and had existed for a while before that. So I was worried about bending reality a little and claiming that Ichabod knew of and could recognize the 12 days of christmas 100 years before they appeared in print. BUT THEN I watched the movie and the date was 1799 which is clearly AFTER the book was published. So YAY! I didn't have to suspend truth in order to make it work. I was very happy about that.
ANYWAY... I'm glad you were amused by the plot. I was tempted to write a coldfic but I know you like allergies a lot so I wanted to do that. And I figured it'd be fun to make it ambiguous as well for a while.
