Disclaimer: I definitely don’t own these characters or have any right to do what I’m doing to them… but I don’t make a cent off this so please don’t sue me!
Summary: Jack likes his vacations. Assuming he can actually get one.
Author’s Notes: I wrote this for Kai as a gift for coming in first in my song guessing competition. The reference to jam is an old Highlander joke. It just sort of fell out when I was writing and I just couldn’t help myself.
Story: Vacation
Again, I'm so sorry this took so long. I hope you like it! There are parts I'm more pleased with than others. So I hope it turned out okay. I'm still rather new to writing in the fandom and it got a little silly there for a while (which is probably because I watched episodes like Urgo and Window of Opportunity while writing this). And, again, congrats for winning the contest! :-)

Date: 2005-12-11 12:19 pm (UTC)This was very nice, as always. I really liked your sick Jack, refusing to be sick.Very cute, and it was so nice that his friends were looking ouut for him. Plus a few bonus sneezes from Daniel is always nice.
Gotta run to work but i just wanted to give a quick post first.
Thanks for a nice surprise read this morning.

Date: 2005-12-11 06:07 pm (UTC)Guffaw! Chortle! Just that one line -- you WIN! Shows off the lovely balance (imbalance?) of power within the team, and sounds very Jack to me. My other favorite balancing act was the way in which you created the symmetry (yes, saw the user icon ;) between Daniel and Jack. I'm just a big ol' sucker for the "prepared/unprepared" scenario in sneezefetish fiction, and the way in which you worked out the balance between Daniel's matter-of-fact use of a handkerchief versus Jack's insistence that he absolutely did not need a tissue (when Daniel offered on the drive) and then only covertly searching out a box at the cabin melted me into a big puddle of squee.

Perhaps the reason it sounds very Jack to you is because I stole that line from him in the episode 'Orpheus'. (At least I think it was Orpheus... I've watched 20 episodes in the last few days- they're all blurring together now) I already had Teal'c's repetitive looks and eyebrow-raising so I just HAD to include that line. I set the story up for it so well it seemed a shame not to have it (originally I was going to have a similar sort of line, but worded a bit differently). Maybe I should have credited it in the notes? I stole the reference to lime Jell-o from that episode as well (it's Jack's 'feel better' remedy).

Wow. You're a fantastic reader! I did indeed want to juxtipose the two, and I was conscious of a few of the differences. (And omg don't you just love that user icon? It's snowshie's. Soooo yum!) But I hadn't consciously intended most of what you mention above. I'm stunned and thrilled you read it that way, though. Makes me want to cough and say "Oh, yes. I meant to do that, of course!" But really you're just brilliant in your powers of analysis :-)
Thank you for such great feedback! I'm glad you liked the story :-)
