Had a full day today. Woke up early and took Maxwell to the vet. He's about 3 pounds too heavy (all our cats are a little overweight, even though they're on diet food... and now MD food) but otherwise he's great. He had his shots and had no problem... apart from scratching me when I picked him up to put him in the cat carrier. But that wasn't his fault and I get scratched more than that just playing with the cats :-)
My parents are now the proud owners of a new house! They had the final walkthrough today and signed the papers. We can start moving things in on Thursday. I haven't even BEGUN to think about packing or moving. It's so NOT on my radar yet. The window people come again on Thursday as well, which means much more moving furniture and utter chaos in my tiny room.
As it was my day off, I went to see CoN: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe today, finally! I loved it. I'm not going to compare it to the other movie version, because I honestly, truly loved it as well. This one was just as special and wonderful, just in other ways. I really loved it. I cried a little at a few moments... like when Peter was knighted. And I laughed a dozen times... even though I seemed to be the only person in the whole theater who did *shrug* I thought it was beautiful and magical and everything I love about Narnia. I've always felt closer to that fandom than anything else. Like Puddleglum says "As for me, I shall live my life as a Narnian, even if there isn't any Narnia." *sigh* Wonderful movie. But I still like the version in my head the best and I always will, I think.
I'm watching Horatio Hornblower Disk 1 again, before I have to send it off in the mail tomorrow. I'm SO in love with Horatio. And Archie. Oh, what ANGST and what lovely characters and beautiful opportunities for h/c of every kind! I can see why those of you out there on my flist love it so :-)

I am SO in love with this fandom right now, it's ridiculous! I loved the movies and ADORED the books :) The characters are just so perfect and wonderful and have I mentioned that I'm in love with them? *l* Hornblower and Bush, particularly ♥ And there are much more angst and h/c opportunities and lovely squee-y friendship moments coming *hugs fandom* :D
Yay!! I'm so glad you got to start watching! :) :) :) There needs to be more Hornblower love in the world :)

Date: 2005-12-21 01:16 am (UTC)And is Bush a book-only character? *puts book series on To-Read list immediately anyway*
I love the sneezefic community. I've gotten into SO many amazing fandoms because of their influence. Perhaps it's a little silly that sneezefics are the reason I got into some fandoms (like Harry Potter!)... but whatever does it, right? I am very thankful for it :-) This is just the latest great example.

Date: 2005-12-23 12:38 am (UTC)Bush is a book character who shows up a little later in the series *g* I have to admit, Archie has more fangirls than Bush does, but I'm a self-confessed Bushbabe! ♥ And a Horatian, too, of course *dreamy*
I love the cross-pollination of fandoms on the internet :) And you introduced me to Jamie and Claire, who were probably my favourite people of 2004, so I think it evens out! Hehe.

Date: 2005-12-21 01:09 am (UTC)I just got a phone call from my aunt- she didn't like the movie all that much. Thought they went too heavy on visuals and not enough on plot. She also thought it was too religious- which amazed me because I expected it to be heavier in religion and I found it just the opposite! She also didn't like the children- and my uncle HATED Lucy! O_O I rather liked them... and liked that they were young... but I have to say I still love the BBC children muchly, even if they were physically wrong for the parts.
Although, I did enjoy the other versions I've seen as well.
There's just something about the story that makes it magical and wonderful no matter WHAT version it is! But I'm very glad you enjoyed this one as well!! :-)

Date: 2005-12-20 11:22 pm (UTC)I'm glad you liked it, too!!
i havent even read all of Lewis' books yet, either-->im only up to "Prince Caspian" right now, but I think so far, "Magician's Nephew" and "LWW" are my favorites. "The Horse and his boy" is kind of random, IMO
LMAO. You made my head hurt. I cocked my head at the monitor and said "But Prince Caspian is the second book. Huh??" It took me a few moments to remember the stupid reordering. Which is a painful thing for me to remember.
Anyway, I love Magician's Nephew muchly. Diggory rocks (and was GREAT in the movie, don't you think?) And LWW is very close to my favorite book. But I think I like The Voyage of the Dawn Treader bestest. The quest and the ship and the characters (Eustace is possibly my favorite character in the ENTIRE series). I totally agree that The Horse and His Boy is a little random... the other books are SO crucial to the timeline and history of the world... but I still like it and the characters muchly.
lol. but the movie was just--wow. I think I almost like it more than the LOTR trilogy, but that's saying a lot ;)
Wow, that IS saying a lot! J.R.R. didn't like Narnia because it was too simplistic a world... but it's always felt real to me :-) ANd if you're not confused yet, wait until you get to the history flashbacks in Prince Caspian (which I must admit I skip over when I re-read the book)
I havent seen the BBC version yet of the movie, but it looks er--freaky LOL Lucy scared me when I saw a screen cap of her ;)
Aww, I think Lucy is ADORABLE in the BBC version. Most people hate her. And they don't like the kids in general because they're too old for the parts (which is fine by me). But I love Lucy especially (and no Edmund I've ever seen beats the BBC one, IMHO) and the witch. I call the BBC movies "charming". They're not stunning or jaw-dropping... but they're nice and accurate and very cute in places. And I like an Aslan I can actually wrap my arms around, instead of a CGI one... but Liam's voice was just to DIE for in the new movie... so that's sort of a toss up for me! :-) But, yeah, I'm trying not to compare them. I love them both, but for very different reasons. And the cartoon version of LWW... okay, that I really don't like ;-)

Anyway.... am looking forward to reading your h/c in this fandom. This fandom, I definately like h/c with or without sneezing.
